Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Assuming Sonic returns, I wonder if they will reveal him around the release of Lost World.

His Brawl reveal happened on a random day in October. But it still caused megatons lol. Wonder what GAFs reaction was.

I was getting time out errors for a good 10 minutes.

Was never so happy to hear "Live and Learn"

GAF was way more hype and conspiracy theorist for the Brawl reveal. I wish I could find that "Ridley, Bowser, and Ganondorf in the clouds!" Image. We haven't got that bad yet.

Good times.

I see Ridley, Bowser, and Ganondorf in the clouds all the time. I also see Mario in the mirror and Pit in my pants.

Just played Smash Brothers 64 for the first time in many, many years. It still holds up quite well, and it's pretty fun. I like Link's effect on his Up B move, the sword spin.

(these are HDish screenshots, by the way)

I also thought it was kind of interesting how smooth Master Hand's graphics are. They aren't as blocky as everyone else is.

I wonder if the lack of textures really helped.

I've been replaying Melee lately. I forgot how fun the Event Matches were and... man, I really missed Break The Targets and Race To The Finish.

Can't quite figure out what you're seeing there Heath :/
Can we get some MS Paint circles up in here?

I don't have MS Paint. Sorry :-\

In the first pic, you can see a link icon in the bottom middle.

In the second pic, you can see a Mario icon to the right.

Oh and link's icon behind Mario's right leg.

Yeah, you got it. I was hoping to see Little Mac icon in the screen.

Yeah, Nintendo is not going to be at TGS, but it's likely they'll have a Direct before it.
They are going to be at Gamescom, tho.

I really hope that we are getting direct during Gamescom and TGS.

Started playing through Kid Icarus: Uprising again.

I cannot believe how fun this game is. I hope the next smash game gives KI:U lots of exposure.

I was kind of disappointed that we didn't see more Kid Icarus Uprising content from the reveal trailers, I was so sure that a Kid Icarus character would have been one of the first new reveals but I was wrong on that.

Although I am happy that Pit got new moves based on Uprising given how I thought his moveset needed spicing up.

The Smash Bros. hype as got me playing Uprising as well. I'm trying to fill out the Hades treasure board.

In terms of Uprising exposure, I'm hoping for playable Palutena, new Uprising stage, Eggplant and Viridi assist trophies, and a few Uprising items. I'm already happy that Pit got two moves from Uprising.

I know that's not the point, but the thing that Speedwagon circled looks somewhat like early 3D blocky Mario. That got me thinking, how cool it would be if there was a stage that simultaneously rendered what's happening in old SSB style (say SSB64) in the background.

It's not gonna happen, but just a random idea I got from that screen.

Since my two most wanted newcomers have been confirmed already (Villager and Mega Man), I'm going to make a case for another character that deserves to be in the game…

The Shiba Inu appears to be the Nintendogs mascot in Japan, so that breed would probably be the default appearance. Various breeds would appear in lieu of traditional alternate colors, perhaps with colored handkerchiefs/collars around the dog's neck for use in team battles.

Like Animal Crossing, Nintendogs is a very popular, highly merchandised Nintendo EAD "communication" series. There are Nintendogs figurines, keychains, trading cards, stuffed animals, system bundles, and more:

And, like the Villager, the Nintendog was singled out in Sakurai's Brawl planning document as not being fit for Smash Bros.:

We all know what happened to the Villager.

Jigglypuff was designed as SSB64's intentionally weak "joke" character, as Pichu was for Melee. The Nintendog would be SSB4's version of an intentional bottom tier character.

Standard attacks would consist of:
  • Playful bites/nips
  • Paw nudging
  • Chase tail in a circle
  • Roll over
  • Backflip
  • Stand on hind legs
  • Ankle bite (grab)

Here are some quick ideas for special moves -- I'm sure there are better options out there:

Standard Special Move - Nap
Press B to begin sleeping and press it again to wake up. 1% of health is recovered for every second spent sleeping.

Side Special Move - Fetch
A tennis ball would be thrown or rolled in from the side of the screen and the Nintendog would chase after it, trampling opponents in its path.

Up Special Move - Flying Disc
A frisbee would fly into view at an upward angle and the Nintendog would jump up to catch it in its mouth.

Down Special Move - Drink Water
After a while, the Nintendog becomes groggy from too much physical exertion (like the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon). Use this special move to regain your vitality -- and for a brief damage boost!

Final Smash - Nintendogs
A ton of puppies appear on screen, playing with each other and rolling around. Overwhelmed by the cuteness, all opponents lose control and begin playing with the puppies. Here, you're free to attack the opponents (sort of like Peach's Final Smash).

Do you really want to play a game where you punch and kick adorable looking puppies? Shame on you. :P

Seriously, I can't imagine beating up realistic looking dogs. It just doesn't sit right with Smash Bros.

The Nintendog doesn't have to be photorealistic, and Smash Bros. is more slapstick than realistically violent so it doesn't bother me in that regard. It's all in good fun. The Nintendog's hit reactions could be cartoonish and over the top with Xs over its eyes or something.

I just feel like Nintendo's biggest franchises deserve playable characters, and Nintendogs is probably the best-selling series left after Wii Sports. Judging by Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, Sakurai seems to have no problem with turning non-fighters into Smash Bros. characters.

If you want a cartoonish dog, than the Duck Hunt dog might be a better choice. That thing looks like it stepped right out of a Warner Bros. cartoon. More than few people probably want to kick its smug teeth in, too.

Here's why Nintendog won't be a playable character: He's already a stage hazard in a Nintendogs stage in the 3DS version of the game.

I want a playable Nintendog, but I'm not expecting one -- though I don't think there being a Nintendog stage hazard would hurt its chances. There are infinite Nintendogs, not a "he."

I have a feeling that Nintendog would get in the game after what happened with Villager and Brawl Dojo but we will see. I would hate to punch or kick innocent puppies.

I would be okay if they decide to go with this dog,

Seeing the results screen and trying to decipher what bonuses like "Lost Luggage" or "Rock Climber" meant was one of my favorite things about Melee single player.

Holy hell was that shit fun, one of my fondest memories from Melee was the score screen, and all the cool little bonus titles you get at the end of the match.

Really hope that makes a return.

while I agree he won't be a playable character, Conductor link is also a part of the stage on the Spirit Tracks train level
I'm assuming this was your point, but just to clarify for others Toon Link in Brawl was more than likely the WW-version (given his regular and win taunts), whom despite having identical designs is still a separate entity to the ST Link.

I haven't kept up with new on this game. Has there been any bits of info about the roster size? I know there's been talk of removing characters and "limits" because of the 3DS version (still not sure whether that means # of characters or complexity), but I haven't seen anything from Sakurai specifically stating whether there'd be about the same from previous games.

Reason I ask is because Wii Fit Trainer got in. I think it's great that she's a character, but I've seen some proposed rosters where WFT is the only "out there," surprising choice. If there's only a few more characters than Brawl had, it would be crazy for such an out-of-left-field character to make it in when there arr so many others than fans have been hoping for.

50+ could be great, though even at 50 (about 12 more than Brawl), I could think of 12 characters with good chances of making it in, meaning no more would that much of a surprise.

EDIT: And someone mentioned Team Rocket above. If Pokemon Trainer's in again, I wouldn't mind seeing them make it (even if it's the anime version rather than just two generic rocket grunts) if they had the ability to capture Pokemon from thrown pokeballs

Stale moves
Coward
Stalker
bob-ombs away
Master of disaster
No defense nelly
Fall guy
First to fall
Whipping boy
Shameful fall

I love the negative bonuse names.

Good times.

Oh my god, this is amazing.

Wonder how long till the conspiracies begin. I remember the one with ZSS in that room, where someone shopped in Sonic's head onto one of these screens. Of course Sonic ended up in the game, but the pic was a full on fake. Lol.

Have people started zooming into the background of pics to reveal characters yet? Lol

Coward was nice to have for players who'd always run but denied it. Lol.

Based on the way Brawl was though, everyone would have coward due to the encouragement of over defensive play. Lol.

Look above at the Intelli's post

Though I now see that he was talking about little face icons, like the lives in past games. I originally thought he was saying there was a mushroom icon and a Triforce one.

...Unless that is what he's talking about, in which case, I cannot see those
