Need For Speed Most Wanted - PC Performance Thread

I got an i5 @4.3GHZ and a 660TI @670. Everything else on high except Geometry on middle and SSAO. I can play with smooth 60 most of the time, but with SSAA activated it's kinda on the edge and often drops when you drive through populated areas or crashing etc. - strangely enough, turning FSAA completly off doesn't help too much.

Is there a not so performance heavy FSAA method maybe? What settings could help to make it a really stable 60FPS experience=

It's activated by default if working, you can change the key(s) in the injector.ini - They are key number codes.

And this game is DX10-11, so DX10 folder.

I see, thank you. The performance is really spotty though, it's 60 most of ttime (90%)he even with SuperSampling and SSAO. I think rain, smoke and other cars in front of you with both of these factors are the biggest problems. And reflections.

Game optimization is just really rubbish. I never even got started with the game really thinking they would fix it and here we are, god knows how many months later ... Still the same shit. Last game I buy from them.

Based on the EA Most Wanted forums, it appears both developer and publisher are happy to leave the PC version as is, half fixed with customers left to post 'WTF is going on?'. Issues that appeared months ago remain unpatched; for example Autolog still randomly disconnects during gameplay, the 'Ultimate Speed Pack' DLC was first reported as not appearing in single player games back on December 24th 2012 remains unresolved whilst the most recent DLC bundle consisting of Terminal Velocity, Movies & NFS Heroes is yet to be fixed - it was reported on the 13th of March 2013. It boils my piss to know the DLC for Most Wanted is still being sold despite issues with it appearing in-game after purchase!

The forums have no input from anyone at Criterion or EA outside of the very occasional post from an EA Community Manager who stated on the 25th of June "While there is no ETA for the moment I can assure you that the development team is currently working on tracking the source of this issue." - this is in relation to a data corruption issue reported on the 14th of January 2013!

I've really enjoyed Most Wanted however the lack of follow-up and customer care shown by EA means they won't see another cent from me in the future.

Are you speaking from personal experience with Lucid 8) I'll fire off a question to Criterion via Twitter but their feed looks very underutilised!

A little, yes ;) And it may sound obvious and condescending, but worth trying raising a support call as well?

I haven't fired it up in a LONG time, but I'd wager it's still not running anywhere near as well as it should be. As it stands, absolutely 100% not buying a Criterion racing game ever again. Started fine with Paradise, but after two more chances they've lost me completely.
 
Last time i tried this performance was really good, 1600x900, supersampling and smaa and it never seemed to dip below 60, or was it msaa4x? that was using a 670

I never bought this at first after reading all the performance issues, but they seem to be fixed for the most part.

I would almost say the same, but I couldn't resist since I got MW on the cheap. I will say I won't buy another Criterion racer for more than $15. Also, they need to ditch open world. Their open world is pretty bad (in MW and HP to an extent). I kinda don't like open world racers that much now, developers need to learn to close off the course better. I pay way too much attention to the mini map and maybe that's my fault but still...

Open world is the worst thing to happen in arcade racers. I just wish it would fuck right off already. HP barely got away with it, but god damn just give me an enclosed circuit where I don't have to worry about what the next corner might be. The beauty of racing IMO is repetition and learning the track as you go... when you don't have that, you have to have a course designed to allow for someone not knowing the track which means the racing is a lot less tighter.

No response on Twitter after 24 hours just as I expected; nothing posted by Criterion since March 20th and their blog has disappeared too. Oh well. I'm not going to bother with a support ticket as my game has been mostly fine since the last patch with the exception of the Autolog dying constantly, the gearbox on certain cars taking forever to change up issue and the occasional framerate hiccup.

If its any consolation, I tried the DX9 version on MotoGP 13 and couldn't see a difference either. Mapping the default controls to a different keys did nothing either.
 
So did anyone find a way to get SMAA injector working with the game? Any other solutions other than Downsampling? I can't hold my framerate when my tires smoke.
 
Yes, I have the SMAA injector working...or at the very least the screenshot button works!

I just left the original key mapping alone, worked out what the correct keys were and it appears to be working as intended.
 
Still paying attention to this thread, but not the game itself :P Should fire it up again, maybe the new ATI Catalyst driver has improved performance for it.
It was a fun romp, but with the point-collecting (or however it worked) it started to feel like a F2P game where you could only unlock stuff by grinding through races.
 
I'm at a point where the cars I like the most are all upgraded so I goad the police into long hide and seek style chases 8)
 
The ToCA Edit plugin works and works really well. Suffice to say Criterion modelled far more than we ever see; I drove the Zonda and I can see details such as the steering wheel mounted tacho so interiors are quite well modelled 8)

The plugin gives users access to adjust Logitech settings, use TrackIR and loads of alternative cameras from bonnet camera to above the windshield (the windshield view reflects the road surfaces) to side views and 2 behind the car cameras. One can even adjust these views, add your own or adjust them in-game. Why Criterion didn't implement these extra views is a mystery but thankfully modders are around to fettle with games.

The plugin file readme explains the various settings. I scanned the file with Kaspersky IS 2013 and it found nothing so I'm guessing the file is fine.
 
Rad, thanks for posting it! Something like this with an adequate in-car view could reach near-PGR4 levels of city-driving awesome. Hope so, at least.
 
I'm still mucking about with the ToCA Edit camera settings (so far I've left them at their defaults) and the SweetFX settings...here are a few of the pictures I captured. Bare in mind these were me clicking the Print Screen button. I'm not aiming for the PC bullshot thread quality and I believe the SMAA isn't being captured in these screens as I need to dump these image into paint to save them. SweetFX isn't saving them as bmp files 8(

In-game settings are everything at their max levels plus 2xSupersampling. SweetFX setting from here - I simply chose the most downloaded preset file which probably needs more anti-aliasing for the SMAA.

I had a bit of a play with it, too... the in-car detail is horrid but it still manages to provide a better experience than any of the other in-game cameras. Quite LOL-worthy was the dash of the WRX, which had the writing on the dash reversed as they obviously used a photo of an RHD model in the game bahaha

Haha! The in-car LOD must be car specific as the Zonda had what appeared to be the majority it's dash modelled yet I can't see anything inside the Dodge Dodge Charger R/T. I didn't try other cars as I had plans for tonight. Even stranger is the fact the driver performs gearchanges either by paddles or gearstick despite that in the final version of MW we see none of this, the chrome air scope atop the blower on the R/T reflects the surrounding landscape as do the side windows albeit at a very low resoultion which again makes no sense as we none of this with the default cameras.

It makes we wonder what exactly Criterion had planned and cut due to reasons we'll never be privy to. With the game rendering a lot of extra details we'd otherwise never see thanks to the camera mod, it's little wonder the game has performance issues as many of these hidden aspects are half finished and most likely unoptimised too.
 
I'm thinking so too (on that last point). From memory, I think the rear-view mirror on the Veyron was reflecting... could've been other things too. But I remember the Shelby Cobra had a decent interior, but none of the dials worked. Obviously because it's a convertible.

Now for the bad news, it's still not very well optimised for PC. 3570k@4.4 and GTX770 apparently aren't good enough for solid 60fps (maxed out ofc). With the SSAA options the framerate tanks to around 25-30 so I'm only concerned with getting 60fps with everything else maxed out. It seems the only way to make sure it's consistent is to turn shadows down to medium and ambient occlusion down to medium.

I was hoping by buying it so late, the performance issues would have been ironed out but I guess that's too much to expect from the new NFS Criterion :(
 
So got this for free through "on the house." Any ideas about what could be causing random parts of the screen not to be drawn properly? Similar to this but much less severe and seems go away soon and (maybe focus on the skybox).
Only happened twice in different areas of the map. Going try record it. Happening on an Nvidia GPU.
 
Game appears to run at a stable 1080p/60FPS maxed out on Maxwell GPUs if you have at least a GTX 950 or 960. Funny it had so many performance issues in the Fermi/Kepler/early GCN era.

Yep, buttery smooth on a GTX970 + stock clocked 4670K so far.
All setting maxed + 2x AA although GFE recommends no AA.
 
A thread that is back from the dead :)

For shits and giggles, I reinstalled MW running on Win10 Pro and a Pascal GPU (ASUS STRIX GTX 1070), put everything on High/Max and 4 x SS and MW looks fantastic and runs at 60fps without issue. I see a lot of MW and Rivals influence in Forza Horizon, especially MW's mega jumps and airport DLC.

Shame it took so long after the games release for MW to run without hitching and frame rate drops for me. Shame too Criterion are a shadow of their former selves.
