Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Dang, EU PS+ wins again. NGS+ and Unit 13 this month (although the former was on NA PS+ a while ago).

That's pretty subjective. I could not care less about either two of those games, while on the other hand I am interested about Dokuro (never got around to it because they stupidly never released the demo in NA) and I'm a big fan of Metal Slug but I never bought XX because I already owned 7, so it would've been redundant (XX is an enhanced port of 7).

But I'm willing to be a lot of people who were interested in Dokuro already bought it, .

a friend of mine who really want some vita games just refuse to buy them and just wait for them to hit PS+, his excuse is simple "Vita has a tiny game library and Sony will have to throw all Vita games for free on PS+ sooner or later"

waiting for it to hit PS+ is the new waiting for steam sales.

also Heavy Rain, there is a market and fans for these sort of things, interactive comic like TWD or non game experience like TGC output, sure I can't deny that and I also don't care about them.

I might be old fashioned here but for me video game is something that require skills and offer challenge when gameplay should be the main focus, just look at SMB on nes it's all about skills and challenge, to me that what video games should be.

Agree with you on this for the most part. The toughest games will never have the biggest following so growth requires both ends of the spectrum. Gameplay and skills should come first.

Beta for backers of starlight should begin in a week or two and release in mid-late august

Starlight has already been answered.

Real Boxing is currently slated for August according to the PSNstores E3 video, and the last game I had not heard of before.
Thanks!

Yes Vita is region free.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, it is the best game the genre since Chaos Legion.
I'm not sure they are the same genre but chaos legion was sooooooooooo good!

Problem is Sony is cheating by including PSP games into the Vita IGC, so they're not going to run out of games any time soon.

Speaking of which I wish that Sony would just officially include the PSP in the IGC program instead. Right now it just feels disingenuous how they're passing off PSP games as Vita games, they might as well go all in and include a dedicated PSP slot in the rotation.

Cheating? I call it generous. I love me some PSP game on my Vita.

Weird question incoming:

Alright, so let's say I got Wipeout 2048 on PS+, and it goes on sale for super cheap, like $4.99 or something.

Is there anyway for me to buy it while currently having a PS+ subscription if I wanted to own it "for good"? Was just curious about this, but I didn't see a way to do it. Is this possible ? Maybe through the web store?

Basically just curious because I could see myself doing this if something I got on PS+ and really liked was on sale for literally a couple dollars.

Stewart Gilray said not too long ago that we would be getting news on the Vita port soon.

Good to hear. I don't mind paying for it, just want it portable. Hopefully when it releases, it will be $10 though instead of $15 like SW. Either way though, I will probably bite (only Oddworld game I never beat, so I want to change that).

what is EU getting

Already covered but NGS+ and Unit 13.

Everything is subjective.

What's going to be amusing is when SCEA decides to start replacing one of the Vita titles with a PSOne title. I say it as a hyperbole, but watch, SCEA is crazy enough to think we'll love them for it.

Now if it were Metal Slug Anthology or whatever, I'd be a little less pissy, since that's something I've been waiting for a sale on.

As far as Dokuro not having a demo... c'mon.
With all the positive reviews, positive word of mouth, the ability to youtube gameplay videos, there's pretty much zero excuse for not biting during one of the sales during which it was $10 or less.

No. There is no option for a PS+ user to convert a PS+ purchase to a retail purchase while having an active PS+ subscription.

No you'll need to wait! And will have to miss out on the sale :/

I know this doesn't apply to everyone but with PS4 multiplayer depending on it and the value being so good anyway, it may be time to give in :P

The earlier the better really.

And I think getting a retail backup copy later on when it's super cheap too isn't a waste either, especially of games with the bigger file sizes - although it's never leaving my memory card so for me it would be a bit of a waste, just more of a collector thing there.

Nope. :(

I see. That's pretty lame. Hopefully moving forward to PS4 they offer the option to do that.

I don't think they will, it encourages current PS+ owners to keep their subscription. Otherwise they would have already allowed it, to make money off the games. But they know why people would want to have their own version - so they don't need that dependency, which they want you to have of course :P

Whoa... I just realized that SCEA is pulling a dick move and giving us JSR again... just on PS3 instead of Vita. Ugh. Dishrags.

Yea, I am not ecstatic about that, but whatever, I am not going to get bent over it. The sale is awesome enough to offset a mediocre IGC month for me.

I suppose the sale is decent, but still... I'm just mostly rebuying games digitally and selling their physical copies (like R&C HD Collection)... not sure on anything for me outside of SH:BoM and the R&C HD Collection though.

Dokuro is actually really fun. Plain and rudimentary in some ways, extravagant and rich in others. I bought it @ $20 when it came out, then kicked myself when it got a nice PS+ discount not long after... I bought the physical import release a couple weeks ago, just to have it, and optimize my memory use.

Operation Rainfall and Reddit are saying Two Brothers is coming to PS3/Vita.

I don't know anything about it though, tbh. Looks like a Game Boy Zelda game, which is pretty cool.

If im not mistaken it only starts with that visual style, then as you progress through the game the visual style changes. An example would be you do something significant, and it adds full color to the world.

Looks cool imo.

That's cool. That's not the game I thought it was, I don't think. I was thinking of a top down 2.5D game where you control one brother with the left stick, and one with the right stick. Looked and sounded nice.

I like this, though, for sure.

Arghh I thought games that were on sale 1 month wouldn't go to PS+ the next month, I thought that was kind of the deal ?!?
Dokuro was on sale for 50% last month, and I bought it happily knowing it won't be in the PS+ list the next month, but then this :(

Shouldn't complain over $3.50 but next time I will think twice about buying games I don't really want just cos it's on sale

Isn't that Evoland?

Evoland was another PC game Shahid was checking out a while ago too, haha.

That would be Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. :)

SCEA PS+ is a crapshoot.
I bought it while it was on sale for $10 and I don't regret it, but then I see sales like your price and then see it added to PS+ and it rubs me the wrong way.

Meanwhile, we'll be waiting for the top tier stuff that EU is getting forever and a day most likely. :lol

SCEE likes their customers so much that they randomly add full retail PS+ titles to the IGC at unscheduled dates.

I know the feeling. That happened to me like 50 times last year with no-discount and then like %20-30 off the next well. Oh well, at least yours is permanently owned, and even if your PS+ ever lapses, you can still play it.

well if a good game was chosen for challenges i would do it, the last few have been for games i have no interest in. I could have done the gravity rush one but that i think was one of the first challenges and i forgot. I think i have only seen one person actually post their times or score for it.

Dude, it is just $5 for an amazing game. Chances are that you'll want to play on a later date and the sale price is no more.
No cash right now unfortunately; all funds going towards moving later this month. Maybe if I get my Income Tax return...if not I can't get any games until I'm paid next month.

Whats some good import games for the Vita? I hear its Region Free so whats something worth buying?
If you're into baseball games, Konami's Pro Yakyuu Spirits already has two games on Vita, and last year's version is amazing. Just a wonderful and mechanically awesome sports game, great atmosphere too.

Picked up a Vita this week and having some issues. Downloads pause when the thing goes into standby, whether I put it there or I let it go there automatically by timing out - also doesn't matter if it's plugged in or not. Driving me nuts :(

Does Sony know that the last firmware update broke the store downloads?

I wonder how much money Sony's left on the table by not addressing this problem sooner. I nearly gave up on buying Hotline Miami after having to restart my Vita five times.

I just don't understand why sony can't just give us some launch games for free. I mean come on Rayman Origins as well as Hot Shots Golf would be perfect candidates for the IGC.
