Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

You guys are lucky you're even getting Megaman. After SSB4, he goes back in the Pit of Doom for 12 years.

Never. Megaman will forever be immortalized in Super Smash Bros. That is all I can ask for. Well, that and Sonic the Hedgehog to return. I really need my Mario vs. Sonic vs. Megaman matchup I thoughi I was going to have with Brawl.

Aww dem memories..i remember the sonic one. Yeah and finally seeing the roster after the wait felt a bit surreal.

And on that day, "hope" was spelled N-E-S-S. One of the best days of revelation in my life.

So what other Mega Man stages do you think we'll see? I'm thinking Air Man is most likely, followed by Guts Man, Crash Man, Snake Man, and Gemini Man..

If Sonic returns, I want a better moveset for him. He would've probably wrecked people's shit in Melee.

If Megaman's anything to go by hopefully he will. Right now I'm just focused on him being back in the game. Having Megaman without him is going to feel like Brawl all over again.

Okay it's just an example, I'm talking about foregoing taking a modern conventional approach to representing the characters in favor of interpreting a single constrained version of the character.
And whether or not the goal was to represent the NES version, they've ended up creating a new different thing, because even the most literal interpretations are subjective. With it's awkward in 3D robotic running cycle and emotionless blank stare and no voice at all, that may have been what one person who only played the NES games imagined when they saw it, but that was never what I assumed. It will probably turn out just fine and be a great character in the game, but the approach makes no sense to me, making a more generic Mega Man would've been equally recognized as being associated with the NES games in addition to all the other games, they didn't have to go for whatever people associate most with Nintendo, I think Mega Man himself is tangentially associated with Nintendo in general, so there's no reason to neglect his diverse history.

I never knew opinions could be wrong until today ...

About the same here, as Sonic was rushed into Brawl and the only character that was added after the characters had already been finalized due to fan demand. If he's in, they probably could work him in a lot nicer as opposed to being kind of a mediocre move-set and overpowered final smash.

Though I'm kind of split minds if he'll return or not. I mean, I do think he will due to the fact that Mario & Sonic have now been in several games together, the next three Sonic games are Nintendo exclusive, SEGA and Nintendo seem to be buddy-buddy these days, obviously Sonic has a long history with Nintendo, fan demand, etc. But then I also am in a state of mind they might not use any of the 'guest characters' that already guested into the series.

So we shall see.

I'm hoping that recent comments from Sakurai about not having cut characters yet is an indicator that there is something at least preliminary in place to keep him around.

I wanted a modified version of Brawl Sonic to get turned into Dillon, and then give the Megaman treatment to Sonic now that they have ample time to do him right.

Mega Man's design is basically perfect - it blends the concept art and the iconic 8-bit sprites seamlessly, making an extremely-well-proportioned Mega Man that looks great next to the other characters and, notably, actually looks like a robotic ten year old.

I only wish that they had repped Mega Man 2 a little less... three out of his four Specials are MM2 weapons, so it would've been nice to, say, have a different shield for his Down-B. And I really hope that his moveset reps Mega Man 9/10 somewhere - the Black Hole Bomb would make a very cool Final Smash, for instance.

Yeah, but that's the fave. The one people can beat if they need to.

I don't think a random robot master quite has what it takes to make the cut.

Much less "important" (let alone well-known) characters have appeared in the series in some form. Also, I wouldn't say Cutman is a random Robot Master; I'd argue that Robot Masters as a whole are great material for Assist Trophies, but especially MM1 ones are quite popular as game characters even not counting their status as RMs.

I'd say that the MM1 Robot Masters are more iconic/well-known though. The fact that there's no Cutman on the moveset may mean that we get him as an Assist Trophy.

Neither are Iceman, Elecman, Fireman or Bombman, let alone any of the other popular games' robot masters (and here in particular MM2 and MM3).
I'd actually gonna argue that out of the classic series, Mega Man 1 is one of the least popular ones, and some of the robot masters are only known because of the Saturday Morning cartoon.

The only truly popular MM1 robot master is Gutsman, and that only because he's been recycled to be a boss in every other classic MM.

I don't think a random robot master quite has what it takes to make the cut.

wut u did thar, i c it

Nah, Dillon needs a unique moveset really, he has much more outside of a spin. Dynamite, claws etc.

At this stage Dillon is my most desired character. I would even be fine if he was a Sonic clone (even though he has so much more potential than that.)

I'm fine with clones if they mean new different characters are introduced. A Sami based off Snake is much more interesting than a different character from the same franchise having a similiar movelist. (Link to Toon etc)

Since we haven't seen his entire moveset (there's still A moves not shown), I'm really hoping to see some MM9/10 moves as well. It's weird that those are ignored so far.

Apart from his Final Smash, we've seen Mega Man's full move set, actually.

I know people would be mad, but I think it would be kind of cool if Mega Man's final smash was a Dr Light capsule that gave him X armor and he destroyed everyone that way. Or if it was a total troll move and it is just Mega Man 6 armor.

yeah, probably his smash will be the MM6 armor controlled kinda like Yoshi's or Diddy's final smash...

I'd rather have a "combo attack", kinda like the pokemon trainer... with Megaman spamming every weapon in existence in the classic Megaman history =)

Hmm, it's hard to tell what the colour of the tornado is. If it's blue, I'd wager it's Air Shooter and if it's green, then I'd go with Tornado Blow. It's probably Tornado Blow since Air Shooter moves horizontally a bit, but who knows.

Are there any other attacks from the Mega Man series that have small tornadoes like that?

There's Wind Man's Wind Storm, which is pretty similar to Air Shooter, except it rides on the ground.

Wasn't one of the moves based on Slash Man from MM7? So it's not entirely the NES games. Though yeah, it'd be great to see at least something from 9 or 10.

Slash Man's Slash Claw from MM7 and Sword Man's Flame Sword from MM8 were both mentioned in the intro video.

Dillon's kind of a nobody. Don't mind seeing him in the game, but he's an unknown that can't even be considered a classic. Muddy Mole has more significance to Dillon.

However, I like the way he looks aesthetically. I'm a sucker for stereotypical cowboys.

We should have stereotypical characters in SSB4. We have Robot, Hick, and Trainer. We need Samurai, Boxer, Cowboy, Pirate, Hunter, Hero and Goddess.

Honestly, Dillon would be a cool character if he get in. I know nothing about his game, but I checked youtube. He seem to have small amount of attacks, and do he build gun tower?

The Mega Man 6 Rush Adapters (or to be more precise the combined Super Adapter from Mega Man 7) is actually on my list as a good final smash for Mega Man. If it isn't that, the next obvious choice would be one of the screen clearing boss weapons that are so common in the franchise.

The Astro Crush would be too similar to PK Starstorm, so I hope that wouldn't be picked.
The Flash Man's Time Stopper or Bright Man's Flash Stopper would be interesting picks.
The Tornado Blow from MM 9 would be an interesting pick, since it works by throwing everything on the screen upwards without direct damage.
The Gravity Hold from MM 5 would be good for similar reasons, in that it throws enemies around in an entertaining fashion.
A particularly interesting choice would be Toad Man's Rain Flush. It could be an attack that doesn't knock enemies around, but instead adds a rainstorm that does continuous damage combined with a wind effect that pushes around any characters who are airborne. It is also notable that MM 4 doesn't have a representative boss weapon yet.

Thank you Pikawil for pointing out my idiotic mistake.
