Xbox Live: Ultimate Game Sale - Now Live - Great Deals!

Hmmm, not a lot for me in this sale, as I have (or will be getting in the Steam Sale) most of these titles on PC.

I guess Gears and Forza would be the two I would be interested in.

For those curious, I started up DIvinity 2 last night and am enjoying it quite a bit after a couple hours of play.

Janky, visually crude, and a bit framey, yet full of personality. The skill tree and progression system is full of seemingly solid abilities to choose from, and I dig the way it handles loot and equipment choice. For $5 its hard to go wrong here for anyone a bit curious.

So gutted this isn't on sale on the UK marketplace, really fancied it, esp. at such a discounted price :-\

So, I have about 1000 MSP. Should buy Max Payne or wait to see how much Tomb Raider comes down? I really don't know what SP game to play next, because I just finished The Last of Us yesterday and that's a real tough act to follow to say the least.

I haven't played either, but I'd wait for Tomb Raider because Max Payne 3 is already only $15 on Amazon, whereas Tomb Raider is still $40. Though I also don't think Tomb Raider will be discounted to $10 either, I'm guessing $20, maybe $15.

Edit: If you don't want to add more points, I think MP3 is your answer.

Are the dl speeds really slow for anyone else?
I have quite fast dl/ul speeds and normally xbl is very fast for me, but I've been dl'd Borderlands 2 since last night starting at 10pm.

Considering this is their 3rd such "good sale" since December and people still mocked their potential steam sales comments...I'm sure they'll take all this approval to heart.

This stuff was likely planned well in advance as a lead up to the xb1's release for that very reason. To entice people into accepting their digital design for XB1. And since that's now gone bust I wonder how many more sales like this we'll see later on since they really have no reason to push digital anymore.

I still imagine it's good for the developers. Max Payne may be $10 today, but that's $10 the pub wouldn't get otherwise.

According to XBLA thread, Borderlands 2 DLC is on sale this week for Gold only.

--Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty - 400msp (was 800) (not dropped yet)
--Creature Slaughterdome - 200msp (was 400) (hasn't dropped everywhere)
--Mechromancer Pack - 400msp (was 800) (hasn't dropped everywhere)
--Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage - 400msp (was 800)
--Psycho Pack - 400msp (was 800) (not dropped yet)
--Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt - 400msp (was 800)
--Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack - 200msp (was 400)

Which ones are worth getting?

--Captain Scarlett and Mr Torgue are good, with a decent amount of gameplay. Mr Torgue has more humor from what I remember. (part of the season pass)
--Sir Hammerlock's Game Hunt is the weakest of the DLCs, but still not bad (part of the season pass)
--Creature Slaughterdome is just a wave-based arena area that was a Gamestop pre-order bonus
--Mechromancer Pack is a character, she's sort of fun and pretty strong due to pet mechanic
--Psycho Pack is a character, if you want to light yourself on fire and run around with an axe like you're insane, then he's pretty fun (I love this character)
--Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack raises the level cap from 50 to 61, and adds a 3rd playthrough that can be reset over and over.(part of the season pass)

Just bought Borderlands 2 and still deciding on Max Payne 3. Hopefully Bioshock Infinite is $10 too but I have a feeling it's going to be $20.

OK, BL2 peeps.

I have played and love Mechro but $5 for Psycho has me thinking I need him. Question, though: Based on his tree, he looks like Mechromancer in terms of how he plays and his skills work. Is that the case?

Just something of note, this month there is no survey for the rewards page.

MS is subsidizing this in other ways. I think these deals are way better than 20 points a month for a survey.

His left tree is based around guns and explosive damage. His middle tree is focused on melee and keeping his shield down, and gives the ability to chain his special ability if used when he's low on HP. The right tree is focused on setting yourself on fire, which increases your damage and reduces damage taken.

The way I've been playing him is focused on the middle tree, with extra points in the right (fire) tree. When my health gets low, I use my rampage and get my health filled, then run around 1 and 2 shotting enemies, and each kill fills my health. Any elemental damage I deal sets me on fire, which increases my melee damage and gives me 50% damage reduction. Because I used my rampage while my health was low, the cooldown refreshes as soon as the rampage ends, and if my health is low I can use it again for free.

He's a very strong melee character with some risk and reward. The Mechromancer is a pet class, I haven't played her much though so I don't know much about her.

How good/bad is Red Alert 3?

Well, the game is from 2008 but totally worth the little money it costs right now. Even if you played better RTS (the Xbox controlls are pretty good!), the entertainment value provided by the hilarious to cool story, carried by perfomances of actors like Tim Curry and George Takei, won't make you regret the purchase. I know I don't. :)

They still have millions of reasons to continue offering great sales. The first and most important reason is gaining acceptance while encouraging the digital future MS's has its sights set on. Microsoft needs their sales events to create excitement and become accepted as common place, exactly like Valge has accompished with Steam. Only hosting three good digital sales events (as far as I can remember) in the past eight years does not cement this feeling within the customer base.

MS's issue with how they were going about their plans for a digital future with the Xbox One, is that they have not developed the level of trust needed to facilitate acceptance. Now because of that reason, MS would be very foolish to not continue offering these fantastic sales as they will go a long way to foster the goodwill needed from their consumer base.

Is there a reason that only 2 out of the 4 Borderlands 2 campaigns are on sale? I understand not having the most recent one, but why is the Pirate one still 10 dollars? Also, the fact that the season pass isn't on sale sucks.

hell yea, i still need to start the japan campaign- cool game.

That's the lowest I've seen WWE 13 by far. Tempted because of the Attitude Era stuff, and 2k14 isn't looking to be much of an improvement considering they are really retooling for 2k15 on the next gen consoles.

A no brainer at $15...I had the physical disc a couple of times, excellent game, you are pretty much guaranteed to get your money's worth at $15.

What about Borderlands 2 guys? Worth $10?

I'm assuming it will be a part of the Steam Summer Sale, and I'd rather have it on PC, but for $10, it's tempting...

If you've got some friends to play with. If not, might be wise to wait for the Steam sale and hope it's the same price/cheaper.

Also a heads up next week Dishonored and the DLC will be on sale. Xbox.com lists Dishonored at $29.99 right now.

If you buy Metal Gear this week, some of the DLC will also be on sale next week.

The Knife of Dunwall 400 (50% off)
Dunwall City Trials 200 (50% off)
Void Walker’s Arsenal 160 (50% off)
MGRR Jetstream 400 (50% off)
MGRR Raiden Custom Body 80 (50% off)
MGRR Bladewolf 320 (43% off)

Knife of Dunwall is the one to get. City Trials is decent too and pretty good value for 200 points.

Can't comment on the MGRR DLC.

Can I pause the game and issue commands or does the game have to be running?

Thanks

I'd love that price. I'm expecting fifteen or twenty bucks though.

It is 39.99 on the Marketplace right now, so based on the daily deals today for other games that were originally that price I think we can safely expect 15 at the highest with 10 as a good possibility.

I own a bunch of these already. waiting for Metal Gear Rising, but I'm leaning towards getting Crysis and Divinity II. Loves these sales!! Still have a crazy backlog from the sales earlier in the year.

Just bought Crysis even though I've got it for PC. Might bite on Mass Effect as well since I didn't finish it before my friend snagged it.

Either one of those prices is an instant purchase if so.

Oh shit.

So I've only bought games using the codes I redeem from actual Microsoft point cards (off Ebay). Is there a way to buy codes online? I don't want to put in my credit card info on my Live account.

You can use paypal to buy points from xbox.com.

Quite interesting list I must say. But I already have some of them. Games I'm looking forward to is Gears of War: Judgement, Forza Horizon and Bioshock Infinite. As far DLC, I'm waiting for Dishonored sales to start next week. Borderlands 2 DLC are hell cheap but couldn't buy since I already have Borderland 2 on PS3 and PC (won it over twitter).

Anyone can recommend a site for cheaper MSP for UK?

Far Cry 3 is £9 ($13.65) in the UK. Its almost unheard of for anything to be cheaper across the pond...BOUGHT!

You can use Paypal to buy points. Alternatively, you could check Gamestop or BestBuy and see if they offer instant codes at checkout/via email.

Cheers for the link, will keep that handy incase I'm just short on Forza or the likes.

No worries. I've had it bookmarked for some time in case I ever ran short of points during a sale.
