Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

Not quite, DoubleHelix actually did have Robin Beanland listen to samples from the new composer and upon listening he gave his blessing. Producer Tom Rettig talks about this in one of the E3 interviews with Max.

yea I know that but there is a difference between listening to some tracks and going "yea cool that sounds good" and actually working on the soundtrack that some people were thinking.

You know what looked like Sabrewulf (or most OG characters for that matter) back in KI1

Quit your fucking rose tinted nostalgia glasses people.

Still, haven't seen anything yet that makes me want to get this fighter. Nostalgia is a motherfucker. I started playing KI Gold, and couldn't get into it. Like I mentioned before in this thread. I do like some of the concepts in the mechanics. Like blocking more will only increase the meter faster to the aggressor, and the combo breaker system. Love the guessing game behind it. But everything else seems boring to me....I'll wait to I'll see more during and after EVO. Props to the folks putting in work.

Speaking of how stuff looks, just put up a video talking about my first hand experience with the graphics and art.

Awesome video as usual. I'm so psyched for this game. I'm not a super hardcore fighting game guy. I really like fighters but for some reason I'm just ok at them. Doesn't diminish my love for the genre and after SF, KI was my favorite back in the day. I even really liked KI2. Hopefully we see all the characters make a return except for Eyedol and Gargos. I'm also excited to see what kind of new characters they'll be adding.

The best thing I learned from this new video is that each character will have their own stage. I really felt the stage design in SFIV was a little lacking but Jago's stage looked great and was representative of his character. I assume we'll see Sabrewulf's stage next along with playable Glacius and a reveal of the next character. Hopefully it's Orchid or Fulgore.

Thanks for the video sir, lots of little details I didn't noticed or knew with the way MS presented the game. Thanks for clearing a lot of stuff up.

KI1 and especially KI2 was a HUGE part of my childhood and its actually one of the reasons I went into game development. The thing I'm more scared about is the overall presentations with the sounds, the music, the announcer's voice and his delivery, the stage knockoffs, the way the camera will move when you knock someone into the air, etc. That's a big part of KI for me. But based on the announced alone mimicking the ULTRA64 ad in the first KI arcade, ''Available for your home in 1995....'', I'm hopeful.

Can't wait to see what they did with TJ Combo. O_______O

I can't believe that including KI1 and KI2 in a special edition is not higher on the list. I'd pay $70 for a retail copy of KI that included both previous games.

The article I linked a couple pages back strongly hinted at KI1 being included in a special edition. I'm very happy with that, but I understand why it's so low on that list. People wanted more KI, it was assumed we'd get a KI1 HD port before a brand new game, but instead we're getting a brand new title that essentially plays like an updated KI1. There's really no need for an HD remake when you have a brand new game in the same vein.

1. KI1 Sabrewulf looks nothing like that.

2. Not nostalgia, his design was fucking boss.

3. Your post is bad and you should feel bad.

Was thinking of what 'original' characters they might add to the cast of KI.

Starting thinking and hoping for guest characters, and couldn't help the thought of a Predator and Xenomorph fighting each other in the new Killer Instinct style. Holy god.

Depending on how difficult the license is to acquire, a xeno could be an alt outfit for Riptor and the Predator could alt outfit for Fulgore. If they get announced...

Lol... Why do you guys insist on defending sabrewulfs KI1 design? It was so bland and he was an oversized bi-pedal dog wearing a green shirt. Now he's a lycan wearing pants.

Thanks much for watching. After putting so much time into the game, I just wanted to talk about it more and more after E3. Luckily, making videos for it eases my hype by a little. Can't wait for Evo.

edit: to avoid double posts, dude on the DH forums found a couple teaser images in the websites code

Sabrewulf's stage?

Community feedback?

Where do you go for feedback with this game? Like, did they say what area they are most focused on regards to community feedback? Twitter? Forums? Etc.

Great work! Regarding about the characters and their storylines for the new KI, seems like Sabrewulf has been through some shit. Really appreciate you taking the time to release these videos as you pointed out a shit ton a things I would've completely overlooked otherwise.

Then while you may not agree, you can see where im coming from. Everything from basic collision detection, to animation, to sound design, to character design is very very very different.

As ive said before in this thread, the sound design is the biggest issue with this game. In the original KI, even if you closed your eyes and dialed in your combo, the hits had a certain "beat" to them. Even more important than the announcer stutter or the soundtrack. Think back to the little details, like how cinders walk would be perfectly in-time with the beat of his stage music or the thunder of Saberwulfs run.

And then there is the stupid shit. Why is the shadow kick now just a forward kick instead of a roundhouse? Why is the laser blade a scimitar? where is the bruce lee high pitched voice? Where are saberwulf's bats? Why have the spinning claw, rolling and running slash be changed so drastically/removed entirely?

Im not trying to shit on the game, but as ive said, It looks as much like KI1 as blazblue looks like guilty gear. Im not disputing the game will be fun and even competitive, but for some fans, myself included, this wasn't the KI we wanted.

I love you man. That's exactly how I feel about this "new" KI.

Actually, looking at the original Killer Instinct to KI2013 as it's Guilty Gear X to Blazblue is a pretty good comparison.

I'd even give the example of Killer Instinct to Killer Instinct 2013 as SF2 World Warrior to SF3 New Generation. There's a ton of stuff that's being changed. Killer Instinct 1 and 2 was the equivalent of SF2 to Super SF2.

After some of Max's videos, I have to say I'm getting more and more excited! Maybe it's my nostalgia for KI1 strirring up, the music, or just the fact that it does seem to look like the development team seems to know what they are doing.

Max's description of KI that it has always been a conscious, more light hearted mash-up between popular fighting game mechanics and movie/comic tropes, makes me hopeful that this game can reclaim its place in the fighting game pantheon. (But bring back Riptor too Doube Helix, you can't represent the tropes of the 80's and 90's without a mutated, bipedal Raptor now can you?).

I also wonder why people in the poll don't want the first two games included in a special edition, and in general I hope that Microsoft will release these games separately for XBLA as well to promote the new game.

Yea. As much as the first two games get really stale really fast in the hands of good fighting game players...we still don't have arcade perfect ports of KI1/2 at all for near 18 years now. Only way to play these games was via emulation. I think the time has come for the classics to have a home besides just arcade cabinets.

I love it. Even as a Alt Outfit idea. I'd figure grabbing the rights would be pretty easy. Aliens and Predators are just crossover bread and butter no matter where they go.

Another tease of Wulf's theme. This is getting good.

Really digging the violins.

You're really good at hunting KI stuffs. You're the ambassador of the KI community now! I just started watching your videos since the E3 announcement reaction. I was never a big fan of fighting games but you sure know how to bring the excitement. I'll consider playing KI when it releases!

If Rare needs him to fill an official position they really should. Every company has community people these days.
I guess Filthie Rich left Namco to do community outreach for KI though :/

Just found out that Killer Instinct will be shown on a huge iMax theater in San Diego during Comic Con presented by Madcatz. Tickets are available now and I'll be there all friggin night.

Nice, between this and EVO this game will get some great exposure. Im hoping the build they show is heavily updated from what we saw at E3.

Do we know how much it's going to cost to unlock everything at the start? Will it be the standard $60, or will it be cheaper?

I don't see how it will be more expensive than buying the full game. Maybe if you purchase all characters in their standard skins, both will be equivalent I'll say.

I'm just going to get the unlock everything key and party like its 1994 again.
