Killer Instinct coming to Xbox One

Glacius will be playable and one new reveal iirc.

Alright, cool.

I wonder how much of the originals cast we'll get in this. It wasn't the biggest of rosters so I don't see why we couldn't get all of them.

Also I hope we get Spinal soon.

I am thinking all of them + a few new cast. Maybe something specific to it being on Xbox? Maybe like a Berserker from Gears. :P

Probably a long shot, but maybe we'll see some of this game at RTX? Rooster Teeth is a pretty Xbox orientated site, and Killer Instinct (and Forza) seem to be the games that are being shown a lot when it comes to Xbox One in the public.

I was just thinking, should Double Helix possibly try to add guest characters in Killer Instinct? I mean, we did have Nicole in Dead or Alive. You think Microsoft would be okay with doing that again for a fighting game they actually own.

Is this how all fighting games are now? So much seizure-inducing flashing light. Particles flying everywhere. Dark backgrounds. I wouldn't even be able to see what the hell is going on. It would be like playing a game while someone is flapping a rainbow kite in my face.

Will be much better in front of you, at 60fps/1080p

If this game becomes a success, I think they should. Right now I hope they just focus on the gameplay and balance, though. It would be cool to have some guest characters like the Berserker or Ramm from Gears of War, or Master Chief or the Arbiter from Halo. I think many MS characters could fit into the KI universe very easily.

So sad.

The character designs, animations and overal lighting all look like ass.

Everything is just plain wrong. Does not look like anything KI.

It's not like the changes made to Mortal Kombat 9, when compared to the first trilogy. The old MK's started to look real old, where the only way to go was 3D or SNK style sprites.

KI Gold was so good looking that it makes no sense to ditch that style, lighting and character design.

It's not Killer Instinct. Will play the real one on my N64 today.

Disagree with pretty much everything you said. This isn't the 1990s, of course it isn't going to look the same. Nor can you get away with that kind of visuals anymore and expect a new generation of gamers to care.

I really like the new look personally.

I get it. Not the 90's.

What I said, however, is that a good way to do a new KI was to build on the concepts that made it look unique. The oily brightness that made everything shine, the slow moving animations (normal speed), etc...

Now it looks like another 3D fighting game. Couldn't tell it's KI if they didn't tell me first. I guess most people wouldn't. That's why its a disaster.

Come on dude, try harder than that.

I really hope they don't. Guest characters were a horrible thing to happen to fighting games.

The dead giveaway for me was when I saw Sabrewulf. It really wasn't that hard to discern what the game was.

How can we reason with one who thinks KZ2 and KZ3 are the two of the best shooters ever?

You don't have to agree to that, you know? It was my opinion, as you said. :)

I guess it has something to do with the new direction MS gave to all mature franchises it has, more towards younger audience and color hungry eyes. The game just does not seems that dark anymore.

You can see that element in some design decisions for other games, like TitanFall (have you seen it?). The part when the Titan (mech!) removes the pilot of the other Titan and just throws him, instead of smashing, crushing, stomping or dismembering him, which would probably be too violent for the target audience.

Didn't you just say you missed the shiny, bright look of the old games?

Microsoft has nothing to do with TitanFall. However, they are publishing Ryse, which features throat stabbing, and Dead Rising 3:

Good gif! I know there are gore games being put out by MS, but I was thinking of an interview by Rare's Don Murphy I read some time ago.

I found it:

The big change in Rare came when the company went up for sale, people were unsure of the future of Rare. When they announced Microsoft was buying, a lot of people were unsure if it was a good or bad thing. For one, MS had deep pockets so financial security seemed assured, but on the other hand they were relatively new to the games market, and complete infants in the console market. Personally I don’t think it was a great mix. At first it seemed that they wouldn’t interfere much, but it was soon clear that they were more interested in using Rare to help aim at a younger market. This stifled a lot of creativity, Rare was renowned for their diverse portfolio, so to not be involved in making Mature games was a real blow.

Real talk: Killer Instinct 2/gold looked like ass. New one looks great.

And I say this as a big fan of the originals who played the shit out of them when I was younger.

People are just blinded by nostalgia.

I don't really understand when people say the first games were 'dark'.

Do you mean the hard shadow lighting because of lack of shaders on the pre rendered CG? Every character had hard black shadow with a hard white light highlight.

And I don't buy the 'dark' thing, with some of the goofiest stuff in fighting games. Farting, burping, characters hitting the arcade screen, humiliations, eyeballs popping out of heads, and a cast of characters that just ripped off 90's pop culture. Game never took itself seriously, and it was awesome.

I seriously hate MS and their entire gameplan for the industry, but KI is going to make me fuck around and buy an XBone. I can feel it lol

I'm with you bro. I hate it that MS had to disrupt my purchase plans for the next consoles. Already have a Wii U and was planning to get a PS4 eventually, but if this gets praised by the community, the XBone will be my top priority.

Yes, this one title will overcome anything the PS4 has to offer.

Having played a lot at E3, you really can't judge this game by YouTube videos. Just download the demo if/when you get an Xbox One and see for yourself.

Not being able to tell Jago looked like....Jago.....is bizarre to me.

If anything, of the three shown, Glacius looks the most different to me with those bone style spurs.

It still looks like KI.

Hopefully it plays better than the original, though. KI was amazing due to graphics and sound. The fighting was garbage.

(Yay Eyedol / Cinder infinites).

I was never a fan of fighting games, I only played them when I used to go to the arcade downtown with friends. With KI coming out, I'm actually hyped and looking forward to invest my time in this game.

I just watched the video of the Mad Catz stick that will be released along with the XB1 and I was wondering what in the world could they be hiding inside the box?

Kim Wu - well, we need a "chun li" character so just give some asian girl nunchakus and call it a day.
Am I the only one that thinks Kim Wu looked like Janet Jackson?

Kim Wu- http://a4.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/120/9d038f6dcbff47c4b81e3dc7bdb68621/l.jpg

Janet ( Miss Jackson if you're nasty)- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v416/SapientWolf/24n2slk_zps1979ea1a.jpg

And she's supposedly Korean.

I feel similarly. What's not helping the PS4 at the moment for me is that it has nothing compelling about it other than price. There's always the chance between now and launch they'll show off something that interests me more than KI, Forza, and DR3, but that window is closing.
