Xbox Live: Ultimate Game Sale - Now Live - Great Deals!

its actually the third ultimate game sale

anyways, nothing for me today. hate that they save every good game for the last day.

I just hate that they do daily shit really. I know it's partially to due with stimulating impluse buys and keep hype for the sale, but I do wish they'd just put everything they intended to sale on sale from the beginning.

Seriously. People seem to be forgetting the pretty dismal Deal of the Weeks that were being touted as great savings for so long. Crappy discounts AND frequent repeats of past discounted games/DLC. Microsoft didn't really start having these great sales until the last few years of the generation.
You make a few years sound like a few weeks.

They probably do only add up to a few weeks. Maybe one or two months' worth, tops (only counting the decent Christmas and seasonal sales). The Xbox 360 is, without a doubt, my most used console this generation, but this corporate boosterism baffles me. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving this sale, and have already spent a ton of points, but people who think Microsoft is doing this as a good will gesture to gamers and not because its' the end of the 360's life cycle aren't really thinking critically. The lack of backward compatibility and the onset of a new generation are huge factors for the deep discounts this late in the game.

Fingers crossed for Tomb Raider at $20.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it at $15 or even $10 to be honest. The price is $30 right now and that is non-discounted. Most if not all of the daily deals so far has been at least 50% and upwards.

I picked up Far Cry 3 on the first day so I'm able to give my physical copy to a friend. As for today Forza is my only 100% sure purchase. I'll also probably end up picking up Crysis 3 at the $20 because I know I'm going to pick up Revengence, Judgement, and Infinite which will probably all be $20 therefore completing the Xbox Live Rewards Punchcard deal which basically makes Crysis 3 free.

Had some spare points as I hardly use my 360 and picked up Mass Effect. It's supposed to be the more RPG-ish of the trilogy so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm considering Divinity II: DKS but I haven't heard much about how it plays. Might just hold off and save what's left for an indie game somewhere down the line. Still pretty cool that I get to play a game I otherwise never would have.

Fantastic prices for Witcher 2, Horizon, TOB and LFD2.

Buy them all.

So tomorrow's sale should include the following...

Bioshock Infinite
Gears Judgement
Hitman Absolution
Metal Gear Rising: Revengence
X-com: Enemy Unknown

Great way to end the sale, let's hope the prices are as good as they've been for the past few days...

want to get 3 games and ive got 5400 points left. if every game is 20 bucks i should be able to make it.

Fuck, Witcher 2 is only $10? I'm already planning on buying at least MGR and Dragon Age Origins, and wasn't planning on spending too much on this sale, but I don't think I'm going to end up sticking to that.

I'll be grabbing Hitman aslong as it is $15 or less. I already have Bioshock & xcom and I'm not really a fan of Gears or any of the MGS series (tbh I haven't played one since the ps1 days), but damn I don't want this sale to end. I never thought I'd come down with Steam sickness during a xbl sale, lol.

First post decides my destiny. Which game should I get Orange box or Crysis? I have played a little of Half life 2 on PC but lost the disc and I've never played the first crysis

edit: Done, thanks

TOB.

Crysis is great, but with TOB you get 2 full games in HL2 and Portal, along with 2 pretty great episodes for HL2 and a full blown multiplayer in TF2, but that's pretty much dead I think.

Forza Horizon is on sale already? Bought and Downloaded! :D

Have a few points left after buying Forza, 2980 to be exact. Might bite on Infinite if it's cheap... was really planning on saving these points to buy a launch game for my Xbox One (buy Forza Motorsport 5 and Battlefield 4 physically at the store when I buy the system, and buy CoD Ghost/Dead Rising 3 digitally with the points saved) but seems like my plan changed :P

Oh and Tomb Raider as well, will finally finish that. I have $37 in Microsoft Points, hope that's enough to buy a $15 ($10 maybe) Tomb Raider and a $20 ($15 maybe) Bioshock Infinite. :P

What's the UK price on Forza ? Will probably jump on that when I get home later , tempted to triple dip on TOB as well.

I'm on the fence about Forza Horizon guys.

I'm typically not a fan of "realistic" driving games. I understand that Horizon isn't that, it's more arcadey and open world.

As someone who's only a (very) light fan of racing games, should I grab it? Did the game itself turn out to be really good in general? The few videos i've looked up looks pretty neat.

Going to want Tomb Raider to dip lower... and on other platforms, namely PC. It's why I mainly stuck with games that either had a distinct 360 advantage (namely controller support or at least better controller support) or I was curious to see the port quality of, and both Crysis and Witcher 2 have impressed there. Interestingly Witcher 2 definitely feels the most like a compromised port from PC I've played this generation. Not BADLY compromised mind, but it reminds me of Deus Ex PS2 and some of those others that hit PS2/Xbox and prior consoles, where they cut out little effects that are on PC and on a whole it really does feel more low end beyond resolution and FPS.

Anyways, $15's good enough for me for Forza, so I grabbed it. Wonder how the Smartglass functionality will work out?

Well, someone went so far as to call it the best racing game this gen, and at any rate it's 80%+ on Metacritic and personally I'm curious to check out one of the big exclusives for Xbox, much like why I grab GT for cheap every so often.

Nope not dead. Was playing with my brother a few days ago full games. Heaps of fun. Always find a game no problems.

Anyway can get one more game. Going for Tomb Raider or Bioshock to be at least $10-15. I doubt Bioshock will make it that low so my bets on Tomb Raider. Fingers crossed.

The only racing game I have ever enjoyed before Horizon was Mario Kart...

Horizon is magnificent, one of the best titles on 360.

Just to clarify for those interested in The Witcher 2 from Games on Demand - you only need 7.8gb free to install the game. The retail game was spread over two discs, however I own the game on Games on Demand and I can confirm that there's no 'extra DLC' packs or anything of the sort to make up for the missing disc 2.

It would seem that CDProject reworked the game somehow for the download version to fit it all in 7.8gb. I can't say if there's any more compression or anything vs. the disc version, though there is doubtless some (small) differences.

I also own Max Payne 3 from Games on Demand, and that games works differently: you download disc 1, then disc 2 is split up into three ~2gb DLC packs that you download also, giving a total game size of ~12.5gb on the hard drive.

There are instances of Games on Demand versions being smaller file sizes than retail versions, though. For example Need for Speed Hot Pursuit takes up about 6.6gb if you install your disc to the hard drive, but if you purchase the Games on Demand version it's more like 4.2gb.
Thanks for the info.

Wonder why it's like this for Witcher 2. One disc is enough space to fill 7.8gb. Wonder why it needed two for the retail.

The encryption or whatever on 360 discs closed off a few GB of space (which is a terrible waste considering how far behind they already were relative to blu-ray) and I believe some time in 2011 switched to a new method that freed up more space. I guess the game either wasn't on that new method or the new method didn't free up ENOUGH space.

Get it, seriously you won't regret it. Forza Horizon is more of a hybrid of a Racing Simulator and an Arcade Racer. If you really want a racing sim out of Horizon, turn off all assists and you got yourself a very hard yet rewarding racing sim. Forza Horizon took out Vehicle tuning and such features that were featured in Forza Motorsport, so you won't have to worry about that, game feels like a racing sim if you want it too, and it feels very realistic, but it isn't force upon you and if you don't want to play it as such you don't have too.

Buy it, you'll definetly have your $15 worth just by driving around Colorado, the map is huge for an open world racer, you'll have tons of fun just driving around in your sweet new car, and challenging the AI racers on the street to a street race down the towns and mountains of the Horizon Festival. You'll also enjoy the silly and fun options in Multiplayer labeled "playground games", you can play fun games like King of The Hill, Infection, and Cat and Mouse. Don't worry too much about Forza Horizon being "realistic", the game is and it can feel like a sim if you want, but it has so many arcade aspect to it that it's fun. Game is extremely class and high quality.

Bought TOB and Witcher. Definitely no brainer prices. Forza has a nice price to but it doesn't look that fun. If they discounts are high enough I'll probably end up buying every game tomorrow. Don't know if I should be happy or sad about that fact.

About to run out and buy a 320GB hdd, anything I should be wary about re accounts/rights etc?

Can I swap between my current 250 without hassles?

Did I miss the Tomb Raider deal?

Lots of my casual gaming friends had a blast with it. FH doesn't take itself too serious with the whole festival narrative going on there and creates a fun experience in doing so. :)

$5 for the orange box is such a great price

I never beat episode 1 or touched episode 2 and I'll replay half life 2 again

Plus I never beat portal and if the community for team fortress is ok then I'll play some games

Welp. I'm sold.

Just played 20 minutes of Forza Horizon. As someone who only plays Mario Kart, Ridge Racer, and Burnout in terms of racing games, everything feels a bit heavy (if that makes sense at all). I guess I'll get used to it though. Oh and the game looks absolutely gorgeous. I'd honestly mistake it for a next gen game if I didn't know what it was.

I have 16 gigs left on my hard drive and yet for some reason at around 40-50% Horizon keeps saying it can't be downloaded or some shit.

Has happened twice now.

About to run out and buy a 320GB hdd, anything I should be wary about re accounts/rights etc?

I just upgraded from a 120G (I have an elite) to a 320G HD, because of this sale. Only problem i encountered was retail disc games would not transfer over. Meaning you would have to re-install your disc games, on the new HD.

I thought I loaded up on the 1200 points for $5 deal but clearly I should have gone crazier.

That's what II am thinking, I should have bought more points then. I thought 14,000+ points would be enough. I think I am going to double dip on Forza Horizon I want to have it as digital and I can just play whenever I want and not have to go look for disc. I am also getting Orange Box (almost bought the disc the other day, good thing I waited).
