Waited so long for this film and now it's almost here (have to wait a week longer then you States guys -.-'). I really hope word of mouth is strong for this film. But regardless I will see it at least ten times.

I have to wait a whole month longer before it comes out where I live ='(

It's just ironic because it's, you know, a German word.

One of the first Jaegers, Tacit Ronin, was stationed in Germany before being destroyed in battle. After that the PPDC focused on building fewer but stronger Jaegers, and Cherno Alpha became the designated protector of every country in that area of Europe.

Wow....Im guessing this is THE movie to watch if Hideo Kojima gushed this much about it and hes a movie junkie

damn, for real?!

Posted this in the other thread about Kojima but Aw yeah, sounds good. So far, we got Kanye West, Emma Watson and now Hideo Kojma approvals.

I am so glad this movie finally answers the age-old question of what Kojima, Kanye, and Hermione have in common.

O damnit, I thought it would release next Thursday but it's not out until the 18th.

Curses!

Going to IMAX it with my wife's sister's husband. Wife definitely doesn't want to see it, she's the type who'd rather see Grown Ups 2 :(
It's also funny that searching for the comic "Tales from year zero" in Google takes you to piracy...LOL. I believe they should give out a printed version of the comic to IMAX 3D ticket holders for a small extra fee like 2-3 bucks.

But what if gaf is right and it bombs :(

Oh well at least del Toro would have a movie less to spend his time and get to do that At the Mountain of Madness film.

I don't think Pacific Rim will bomb

No fucking way this movie will bomb. Too much hype, too much awesome. GAF is wrong.

Even if it bombs, the movie is still made and we still got to watch it.
I am not Otaku (no clue what it means), and I'm not into the Japanese giant robot vs monster genre AT ALL. One part of why I wasn't interested in such movies is that I didn't care about low budget productions of 2 guys in rubber suits fighting each other. Now that it's been made with a huge budget, I have to see it.
I am still bothered by the scene where Gypsy Danger is dragging a cargo ship on the streets in the trailer. The cars don't look real enough.

Bomba cancelled. I bought a standard ticket for 10 pm next thursday. If it is godlike im going to see it in imax 3d at some point.

If Kanye and Hemione can't keep it from bombing, no one can.

I'm almost too excited for this movie. Like 1987 levels of excitement, rolled into one movie.

Soundtrack is a little better than I expected. Still too many bro moments and Inception horns, though.

edit: Alright the soundtrack is actually getting better and better the more I listen. Looks like a couple of grungy tracks for media hooks, but there's some good shit here.

Because I never risk post-converted 3D - I'm yet to find a post-converted film which comes close to native. Obviously you can watch it in 3D if you really want. Maybe this is a first.

Forgot to mention this earlier, but the film is more of a hybrid due to the amount of full CG scenes that are natively 3D rendered:

“What happened was, in the weeks and months following Comic-Con, what I asked from the studio was to agree to four points that I wanted to do. The more the ILM shots arrived, the more I realized that there were only a few shots that would miniaturize. I asked the studio, number one, that we would not hyper-stereo-lize the thing. That we would not force 3D on the beauty shots. That we would keep the giant dimensions. They agreed.

“Number two, they agreed to something very unusual. Normally a conversion takes a few weeks. I asked to start it immediately so we could take the full 40 weeks to do the conversion. As an example, ‘Titanic’ took about 50 weeks to convert. The final thing that I asked that they agreed to, which was amazing, was that I asked them to give me an extra budget, which is considerable, to actually have ILM composite the shots that are CG native 3D. We’re not giving elements. ILM is giving the composite in 3D from the get-go. That’s a huge, huge element. Now I’m going to be involved in supervising it. What can I tell you? I changed my mind. I’m not running for office. I can do a Romney.”

Any Kaiju wallpapers out there? Or just...better ones? Those are super generic.

Ahahaha I love him.
