Huh, guess they pulled off enough bucks for a sequel. I thought PR was terrible and some of the worst acting I've experienced in a movie, but hey, more power to them and their fans. I'll be skipping it but I'm still interested in seeing Godzilla.

Was there any reason to come into the Pacific Rim OT with this?

This movie gained a cult following first time around and have insanely good drop in Bo percentage because of rewatched and word of mouth (and foreign) I really hope when pr2 it gets the money it deserves.

Still wouldn't get too excited for this. Del Toro is known for getting people's hopes up with crazy projects that never go anywhere. He even says in the interview they don't have a greenlight yet. Still, I will allow myself a glimmer of hope.

More Cherno please.

I didn't see the corpses so as far as I'm concerned the Kaidonovskys still live, do the right thing Guillermo

I'm just a bit surprised the movie did as well for a sequel. I like Del Toro. Hellboy was one of my all time favorite comic book movies. I saw PR with neutral expectations and came out sour but I'm not against them making a sequel. I would hope they learned from some of their mistakes. Reason I brought up Godzilla is I've seen people bringing up PR in the OT thread and it's a "kaiju movie".

If pacific rim 2 is anything like godzilla it will be a massive failure. Godzilla imho skated by on its IP when the movie itself was a boring mess.

How did Godzilla skate by after the horrific 98 movie that did so much damage to the brand in the USA. They basically had to market it as a human disaster movie with cameo's by Godzilla to entice people to come.

OUTSTANDING!!!! I freaking love PR, I've seen it several times now both at home and in the theater, and I'll be there day one for the sequel. It's my favorite movie of last summer.

The reason why PR comes up in the Godzilla thread so much is because PR is the better monster movie. Godzilla failed in several ways, it had potential but they executed it wrong, it could have been a much better movie very easily. PR is cliche and cheesy but it pulls it off so wonderfully and executes so well that it works as an entertaining film, it delivers in every way on it's premise. Godzilla didn't, thus the comparisons.

Alright, hopefully I did this right. I found this sitting at the bottom of the box while cleaning up. Happy mecha movie action.

Necro bump time :O Sideshow finally started shipping the Gipsy Danger statue after their like 8 delays. Pretty unhappy with them as far as the company goes, no communication to their customers. Statue is pretty badass though, its huge, light switch behind it kinda gives a reference point.

I should really get around to see this film again, I've said I would for a while but I've put it off, I didn't like it when I saw it in the theaters but I love all Del Toro's other films so it is worth at least another watch.

Ehh. I've seen some pics of it in harsh light that make it look barely better than NECA's 18 inch version, which only costs 70 bucks.

If you didn't like it the first time why would you like it now?
