Think about this for a moment:

DiC, 4Kids, and Saban all existed when The three shows that dislocated them aired.

Now, each of the shows that aired dubbed have out lived all those companies (saban exists but its a shell of its self and its vortex block doesn't get the same ratings as Toonami does)

So, I've only ever watched the dubbed version of this show's first season. Is it fine to continue on with the subbed version from there, or are the changes between it and the dub so drastic that I should just start over completely?
I always imagined some kind of hand-camera comedy setting where you see the evil guys standing there confused, waiting for sailor moon to finish flying around transforming without all the flashy backgrounds etc.

PanSto got that covered.(NSFW)

My only request is that the get the person who did Luna's english voice.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the original Japanese voice actress.

Never heard Luna's voice it in english, but the Latinamerican one >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> japanese one.

You should be fine, but I strongly suggest watching Season 1's finale subbed, the dub cut half the episode.

Take Keiko Han out and then you don't have Luna as Reinhart's sister in Legend of Galactic Heroes!

I met Ikuhara years ago. Dude totally winked at me. lol. Was completely awesome. Love Utena as well.
So jelly.

You'd be ok. R doesn't depend on that much from s1 plot-wise. The main concern is missing out on good stuff like episode 6, which was Ikuhara's first ep and yet was cut from the dub.

Besides, the Sailor Moon anime in general is stronger in its episodic stuff than its plot arcs.

Same, but I generally hear that people hated Luna's grandma voice. Works for her mentor role, but not so much for her relationship with Artemis.

Speaking of the cats, S1 Artemis is pretty much insufferable. He's a tone deaf exposition box until he becomes an actual character in R. After that he's great, though.

In the live action series as well.

**Shudders ..........

She pretty much becomes a more annoying Chibimoon. Blah. XD

Is it true that there are over 700+ep in japan of the original series? Was the manga this long or was a case of japan not letting go like Dragon Ball GT?

Bunch of haters.

Chibiusa is great. Try watching S and Supers with R removed from your mind, although even in R she gets much better partway in.

Given she was in effect in a hopeless search for Superman the whole of R and she had her soul ripped out of her in S, all said, being slightly confused about her male company is the least of her problems (besides that, I think they have a handle on their situation).

And that's before we get the Timey-Wimey Ball involved.

What episode is that in the Japanese Version? I know the dub skipped a few eps, so it'd be different number.

I never thought Sailor Luna was that annoying tbh. Not as annoying as Chibiusa anyway.
I was most annoyed that she was supposed to be a mentor type but turned into a little girl to replace Chibimoon and then ALSO had stupid cat mannerisms. >:I Too many levels of unacceptable!

I still really liked the live action though. lol Including brain tumour arc.

Am I the only one who liked Chibiusa?
I only hated her a lot when she was displaying Elektra complex--and the whole Pegasus thing was.. I didn't like the arc.

What about Perululululu too!
She totally kissed him on the face so does that mean she cheated on her horse?
Of course I always wondered if maybe Peruru WAS Pegasus/Helios from some alternate dimension but. really..
Chibiusa shouldn't even have a love life. She is like 7. Ew.

.

Brain Tumour arc?

How should I watch Sailor Moon anime? Skip filler episodes? I'm on episode 5 and Usagi hasn't even met Ami yet. It is pretty ridiculous. So far there's not even character building filler either like the episode where Rei and Usagi get stuck at that snow lodge or whatever that I remember from when I was a kid.

Do not skip anything. The whole charm of the show is each little snippet of their daily lives. It's probably the only monster of the week show I would never skip an episode in.

So the early episodes are just slow and I should keep pressing on? Gotcha.

Ain't nothing slow about the radio or gym episodes. I don't think she even meets Ami till like ep 10, which is good, cause boo Ami. I hear you though, when it's just her carrying the show it's a bit repetitive. It definitely picks up as she collects the rest of the squad. The leadup to the end of season 1 is pretty intense, and actually probably one of the best endings among the seasons. Also the mid-boss type enemies are way more relatable in this season than others. Basically season 1 is godlike.

I thought she met Ami in episode 8 and Rei in episode 10.

And I agree about the filler being enjoyable although there are a couple of episodes that are boring IMO (that episode in the beach with the dinosaurs...)

Yeah, you're right the more and more I think about it. Fuck, thinking about how fucking slow that show was has me all anxious to skip ahead to Ami too. >_>

Episode 6 of Sailor Moon is great. These are the filler episodes I remember from my time watching it on CN.
Sailor Moon isn't Naruto. There isn't filler/non-filer because the entire thing is filler! The main draw of the anime is the episodic antics and character interaction. Dismissing all non-plot episodes as "filler" is just like only eating the bun of a hamburger and throwing the rest away.

Also, episode 6 was cut from the dub.

I know it was cut. But the actual episode reminded me of Sailor Moon I like. The show has hit its stride after getting Ami and Rei.
Yup, because the show thrives on cast interaction, and that's hard to do when you only have Usagi and Luna.

Oh yeah, staff whore guide to s1:

Ikuhara: 6, 11, 15, 21, 26, 31, 36, 46
Satou: 1, 8, 14, 24
