It be nice if Odeon website let me check times in UK...or if it even existed on the website. I know Manchester IMAX is meant be playing it due to giving the poster away but geez the website has no times or anything.

I can book for Wolverine 3D though

I'm trying to book there as well. What's this about the poster?

i cant buy my ticket yet because i am not sure if i will be able to see it until saturday, does it help if you purchase early?

If a film is good, it'll catch on and people will go see it. I've seen it happen plenty of times.

Also what the fuck to the people going "Ehh those water effects look a little off with the shadows and the particles, I've seen a lot in my day in case you didn't know. Not sure if I want to see this."

Honestly, it sounds like confrimation bias. "it looks off", well of course it looks off since you are aware that giant robots aren't actually being dropped into the ocean. It looks unreal because it is. The video game cgi comment is also a completely disengenuous statement. Find me this cgi of comparable quality please.

Nah bro it looks just like Waverunner

um, seeing something large fall into a body of water is hardly out of this world and never-before-done in movies.

reminds me of a really stupid thread where someone was defending Independence Day against someone else who thought the CGI looked bad by saying "well, of course it looks fake, no one knows what a spaceship hovering over a city is supposed to look like".

Don't insult our intelligence.

I agree saying that it's an unrealistic situation is a cop out, but does it really look THAT bad? I mean come on. If it wasn't drilled into out heads with trailer after trailer, would you really watch it for the first time and go "Well that water looked pretty awful, what shitty CGI"

Edit: sorry for the double, on my phone

I think part of what's going on in the .gif is that because the sky is very cloudy, then the light in the scene is completely soft, and we don't see highlights, etc.

All this back and forth over a split second of footage which may or may not be old? Read the linked review just a handful of posts above mine. It's much more productive!

Isn't that before the Celeb twitter boost?

Correct, and tracking numbers usually go up the week of release because awareness peeks. Everyone thought WWZ would bomb or at best do $45m OW, look what it did. 2 bombs in a row now for action movies the past two weeks, that's quite a feet if there's 3 in a row....

Thezombiesaid has brought it to my attention that Pacific Rim is only getting a LIMITED RELEASE in the UK, at around 33 cinemas around the country. This means that even if you live in a large city, your nearest cinema may not be showing it.

There’s been a lot of scuttlebutt on Tumblr about why this film is so important and why we should support it. If you’re based in the UK and want to support Pacific Rim, use this link and it should help you find the cinema closest to you showing it. RL folks, give me a shout, because I want to plan an outing to see this. I am seeing this damn film!

Looks like pacific rim is getting a limited release in the UK and it's gonna go off cinemas by the end of July.

So check to see if your cinema has the movie showing as I've booked tickets to Odeon Imax in London already.

Might wanna warn UK people in the OP about this as well.

What the shit. I've just checked for Chelmsford and it's not even showing here. WTF
I saw a huge poster at my local cinema as well. Goddamn it.

i live in germany, but your post prompted me to check how the sitation is here.
only 1(!) cinema is showing the film in my region and its just a small theatre (luckily, its right across the street ;)

Rumour is that since warner bros is distributing the film and is trying to stop legendary form leaving, they're trying to make sure it doesn't so well or something.

But hey, everyone should fill up the cinemas and make this a giant mistake for them.

What!? I'm not in the UK but as it isn't displaying any times on the Irish Odeon website (here), nor is it displaying in my local cinema (an Odeon)'s list on the website, I hope they aren't following suit. What is the validity of this report?

According to the Odeon UK facebook page, the final listings for Pacific Rim won't be out until next Tuesday:

https://www.facebook.com/ODEON?filter=2

And with that my fears are minimised. I was growing concerned because times for Monster's University has already appeared but I would imagine it is the expected popularity of the movie that is the cause for it being up earlier.

UK-GAF, CANCEL THE BOMBA.

Going on the 12th, 3pm. After the movie, there's enough time to walk around and visit london until I ride my train back to portsmouth.

Cool, cool. Have fun in London, hope the movie's good enough to give that euphoria high (that I got from seeing Batman Begins the first time) when you're going around the city.

that doesnt make any sense. why spend so much money on a final marketing push if you want the film to fail?

If that's true then I will boycott every WB movie after PR for the rest of my life.

Weird, because Pacific Rim is on every single bus and billboard here in my part of England, UK.

How would that get Legendary to stay? Legendary financed 75% of the film and WB trying to make it fail would only want them to leave even more. I doubt any of that is true.
