Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Fishing rod would be a good grab and it could potentially work like the hookshot/grapple beam to pull him to ledges.

Really curious about the final smash, would be funny if they used bees.

Yeah, the fishing rod HAS to be in there somewhere. Makes sense as a grab.

I have no idea what the net is for. It seems odd for it to just be an attack that simply hits people. It's a freakin NET, the whole point is for something to go inside of it.

Well, yeah, insects. They're tiny and can actually fit inside of a net. It has a really fast animation in the Animal Crossing games so I could easily see it working as an air attack. We've only seen the net being used outside of gameplay (CG trailer and promotional image), but both times it's being used while in the air.

Just a thought, but the Villager went from not being suitable as a fighter to being a newcomer. Between those two times we had the release of the Wii version (which his look is based off of) and the 3DS version. Now perhaps whatever his final smash is is based on something that was introduced in either of those games.

I think this is just a viewpoint change from Sakurai, not a sign that the character changed. The Wii Fit trainer shows pretty clearly that a character not being a fighter-type originally now has nothing to do with their addition to the series (Although, really, ROB was never a fighting type before Subspace Emissary...).

I just hope this change of mind doesn't mean will end up with Toad. At least to me, he'd be one of the most underwhelming, but still likely, additions to the Mario line up.

How is cannon fodder likely? That is like adding waddle dee.

I think Bowser Jr. is the most likely of any of the Mario series characters. Appeared in all of the Super Mario games (except 3D Land) with an important role that came out for the Wii/DS/3DS/Wii U.

Toad has appeared as a playable character quite often in the last few Mario platformers. If Sakurai doesn't change his take on characters, I don't think he could make it, but, considering how he's showing a change of atittude, there's a chance he could allow Toad to be added.

Yoga is far closer to martial arts than say, racing or gardening are.

Actually I thought Sakurai was planning to included Villager in Brawl but the creators were against it in first place right?

For Wii Fit Trainer,

In 2008, Sakurai said that the only new major Nintendo series were Brain Age, Wii Sports, and Wii Fit, though he didn't think he could make characters from those games. "I couldn't very well turn the Wii Balance Board into a Smash Bros. fighter," he jokes. Maybe not, but the idea certainly planted the seeds for the Wii Fit Trainer.

The only other GameCube series Sakurai considered adding a character from to Brawl besides Pikmin was Animal Crossing, but he didn't think the nature of the series was a good fit for Smash Bros. He even joked about using a net and shovel for a villager's move set. (Again, fast forward five years...)

Sakurai thought about using all starters (Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur) or all final forms (Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur) for the Pokémon Trainer, since the middle forms tend to be unpopular/forgotten, but in the end he liked the size and attribute variation offered by using one Pokémon from each stage.

In Sakurai's planning document, Ike was actually listed as "someone from Fire Emblem." He later consulted with the director from Intelligent Systems to settle on Ike.

Lucas was originally a Ness clone, but when they had free time they'd go in and make new standard attacks for him. By the end of the development he essentially became a unique character.

I think Bowser Jr. is the most likely of any of the Mario series characters. Appeared in all of the Super Mario games (except 3D Land) with an important role that came out for the Wii/DS/3DS/Wii U.

It would be nice to see Bowser Jr in the game.

Cool to see this confirmed. I figured that was what that page was saying when I ran it through Google's translator a few months ago but I was always hoping that a person who knew what they were doing would confirm it. That information about Lucas is new to me too.

I wonder which director he talked to considering that the series cycles directors after pretty much every game after Shouzou Kaga left. Even Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn were headed by two different people.

Mmm...I think Toad has the best chance, personally.

That's amazing! Love it!

In animal crossing the net is for bopping neighbors you don't like so they will get upset and move away.

In game and in motion you wouldn't be able to notice imo.

Yeah. But I also think that they might boost up the texture quality too. Perhaps the shields were smaller at first or something. I mean, only the symbol on the shields is pixely, everything else is stunningly beautiful.
But yeah, this is stopped and zoomed in quite a lot.

It's his down special. All of his normals seem untouched so far.

I have a feeling it functions like the Mirror Shield but in both directions, perhaps to make up for the loss of a second reflector in his side-B?

Don't forget that his up B got upgraded.
It might actually be a downgrade, we haven't really seen the move in action yet. I certainly hope it's a downgrade and they start lowering the recovery abilities across the board. There is no reason why any character should be able to just fly like Pit and R.O.B. can.

I meant his animation for UP-B got upgraded.

Villager's final smash is most assuredly "Bee Swarm"

Much like Pit's final smash, it sends out swarms of bees to fly around and knock out other fighters. When they respawn, one of their eyes is swollen shut.

Don't forget that his up B got upgraded.

I've been thinking about that. My guess is that the new animation is for when you use it on the ground. Perhaps it is the same as Brawl when in the air. A new up B would be cool though.

You know what else is likely to change? The Great Sacred Treasure becoming his new Final Smash. Please do it, Sakurai!

If that is Pit's new FS and it is revealed before any more characters are unveiled I imagine there will be a lot of people taking that as a sign that Palutena is playable.

And Palutena didn't become playable character then everyone would be disappointed.

Edited:

I really hope that most of secret characters in Brawl would become starter characters for SSB4 roster. Like they did with Ness and Cap Falcon being starter character in Melee. I don't want to unlock most of them as secret character again so please save most of newcomers for unlockable characters to keep us in suspense and surprise us.

If Palutena does make it, I expect her final smash to be a variation of Pit's FS, but with the new centurions types introduced in Uprising. I expect this only if Pit gets a new FS.

I'd say mix it up. Take some characters who were starters last game and hide them away, switching them out for some of the characters for Melee. Have every character who is the major character of their series playable from the start and leave all of the extra characters hidden.

Starting roster:
Mario
Link
Pikachu
Kirby
Samus
Donkey Kong
Yoshi
Fox
Capt. Falcon
Ness
Marth
Ice Climbers
Mr. Game and Watch
Wario
Pit
Capt. Olimar
R.O.B
Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
etc...

So cool ♪

Seriously, Pit's moveset in smash IV is practically a dream come true. One of the things I wanted was for Pit to use some of his weapons from Uprising, and it seems like Sakurai had the same thought! Hopefully he has even more Uprising weapons in his moveset.

Luigi has to continue being a secret character though.

Honestly, I would assign him as secret character to keep us in suspense under a question where he will have Poltergust 5000 or not.

Well, I think Pit could get new final smash based on Uprising, awhile Palutena would absorb Pit's final smash with new centurions.

I'm pretty sure I mention this with each picture that comes out, but my god the colours are so pretty.

I've been playing around with Pit in Brawl lately and wow do I never use his side or down specials. I'm so glad they're upgrading his moves. I wonder if the Upperdash Arm just like Raptor Boost/Flame Choke in that it makes you helpless when used in the air.

I am liking the changes so far for most of the characters. This will definitely bring some new life to the veterans. Hopefully Link and Ganondorf will get some love too. Imo they suffered enough lol. Samus too.

Same here. From what I see, most of Samus and Link's moves are remained to be same. I hope that they would adjust the hitbox or damage to make them better.

Ganondorf is in need of getting revamped but please just let him to keep his chokeslam.
