Well, yeah, insects. They're tiny and can actually fit inside of a net. It has a really fast animation in the Animal Crossing games so I could easily see it working as an air attack. We've only seen the net being used outside of gameplay (CG trailer and promotional image), but both times it's being used while in the air.I have no idea what the net is for. It seems odd for it to just be an attack that simply hits people. It's a freakin NET, the whole point is for something to go inside of it.
I think this is just a viewpoint change from Sakurai, not a sign that the character changed. The Wii Fit trainer shows pretty clearly that a character not being a fighter-type originally now has nothing to do with their addition to the series (Although, really, ROB was never a fighting type before Subspace Emissary...).
I just hope this change of mind doesn't mean will end up with Toad. At least to me, he'd be one of the most underwhelming, but still likely, additions to the Mario line up.
How is cannon fodder likely? That is like adding waddle dee.

In 2008, Sakurai said that the only new major Nintendo series were Brain Age, Wii Sports, and Wii Fit, though he didn't think he could make characters from those games. "I couldn't very well turn the Wii Balance Board into a Smash Bros. fighter," he jokes. Maybe not, but the idea certainly planted the seeds for the Wii Fit Trainer.
The only other GameCube series Sakurai considered adding a character from to Brawl besides Pikmin was Animal Crossing, but he didn't think the nature of the series was a good fit for Smash Bros. He even joked about using a net and shovel for a villager's move set. (Again, fast forward five years...)
Sakurai thought about using all starters (Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur) or all final forms (Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur) for the Pokémon Trainer, since the middle forms tend to be unpopular/forgotten, but in the end he liked the size and attribute variation offered by using one Pokémon from each stage.
In Sakurai's planning document, Ike was actually listed as "someone from Fire Emblem." He later consulted with the director from Intelligent Systems to settle on Ike.
Lucas was originally a Ness clone, but when they had free time they'd go in and make new standard attacks for him. By the end of the development he essentially became a unique character.
I think Bowser Jr. is the most likely of any of the Mario series characters. Appeared in all of the Super Mario games (except 3D Land) with an important role that came out for the Wii/DS/3DS/Wii U.

That's amazing! Love it!
Yeah, the fishing rod HAS to be in there somewhere. Makes sense as a grab.

In animal crossing the net is for bopping neighbors you don't like so they will get upset and move away.
Sepulchrituuuuuuude!Maybe the villager's final smash is writing a really rude letter to his opponents.

In game and in motion you wouldn't be able to notice imo.

The two new Uprising moves are awesome. Seems like the Upperdash Arm replaced his side B and the Guardians Orbiters replaced his down B. I disliked both moves so I'm happy with this apparent change.

It might actually be a downgrade, we haven't really seen the move in action yet. I certainly hope it's a downgrade and they start lowering the recovery abilities across the board. There is no reason why any character should be able to just fly like Pit and R.O.B. can.Don't forget that his up B got upgraded.

If that is Pit's new FS and it is revealed before any more characters are unveiled I imagine there will be a lot of people taking that as a sign that Palutena is playable.I've been thinking about that. My guess is that the new animation is for when you use it on the ground. Perhaps it is the same as Brawl when in the air. A new up B would be cool though.
You know what else is likely to change? The Great Sacred Treasure becoming his new Final Smash. Please do it, Sakurai!

I'd say mix it up. Take some characters who were starters last game and hide them away, switching them out for some of the characters for Melee. Have every character who is the major character of their series playable from the start and leave all of the extra characters hidden.I really hope that most of secret characters in Brawl would become starter characters for SSB4 roster. Like they did with Ness and Cap Falcon being starter character in Melee. I don't want to unlock most of them as secret character again so please save most of newcomers for unlockable characters to keep us in suspense and surprise us.

Luigi has to continue being a secret character though.
If Palutena does make it, I expect her final smash to be a variation of Pit's FS, but with the new centurions types introduced in Uprising. I expect this only if Pit gets a new FS.

I am liking the changes so far for most of the characters. This will definitely bring some new life to the veterans. Hopefully Link and Ganondorf will get some love too. Imo they suffered enough lol. Samus too.
