My tickets are booked. I like going on busy nights, people don't sit in seats not allocated to them.

I went to see star Trek and booked my seats (you book specific seats at my cinema) walk in, there are like 7 people in this 200 seat cinema, and some cunt is sitting in my seats.

Now, on the one hand, fine, I don't care it's empty so I can sit elsewhere.

On the other hand, YOU GET TO PICK YOUR DAMNED SEATS WHEN YOU PAY, so why not pick the ones you want, you dick.

Yeah I'm glad my IMAX allowed me to reserve seats too. Center of the theater, right in the middle. Gon' be good.

I'm not holding my breath for #2, but hopefully this film does pave the way for more sci-fi/action films. If Elysium does well the future could look bright for us nerds.

Uh, science fiction has been experiencing a comeback for a few years now. Hell, Tom Cruise alone is signed up for two sci-fi/action films over the next few years.

You miss the point. That's not really a "comeback". People want more sci-fi/action films that don't require the star power of Tom Cruise to help them get made.

Pacific Rim is that type of film. It has recognizable and well-liked actors but I don't think I've seen a single poster with an actor's face. It's a movie sold entirely on the premise, and the hope is that if it delivers general audiences will be more open to seeing sci-fi films without needing actor marketing to convince them.

Going to see this on Friday with the girlfriend. I fully expect her to hate it, though she has surprised me before (she absolutely loved Nolan's Batman movies, Abraham's Star Treks, and Avengers/Iron Man 1 without any prior knowledge to the IPs). Either way, I plan to don my 3D glasses and turn into a kid again for 2 hours and some change friday night! We are even getting pizza beforehand!

Considering sci-fi/action films (hell, science fiction films in general) have been 100% dorment since the early 2000 films, then yes, regardless of a marquee actor being present, there has in fact been a "comeback."

Man I love that site's reviews. That review has me melting in my chair with anticipation for this thing more than I already did.

Actually skipped a lot of it, as I don't want a breakout of all the character stuff, but the tone/setting/heart of the thing that they get at in this review is everything I was expecting.

....RARRRR!!! WANT IT TO BE MOVIE DAY!

I'm confused at which IMAX showing I need to go to for the poster. It says on the blog you have to go to the 11pm showing on July 11th? There isn't even a 10pm showing on July 11th in my participating theaters, let alone on the 12th.

Only disappointing thing I've seen about this movie, some poor CG in some shots :(

I believe any showing on the 11th. Just make sure you go to the absolute FIRST one to be certain. One day early night showings have replaced midnight showings in terms of how all the promotion stuff works.

Most theaters won't have their full show times until sometime today on fandango. WB has an imax exclusive for PR until Elysium. It will be there. There are no other imax movies, WB is pushing MoS out.

I only had one problem with the CG and that was right when Gipsy is tossed over the bridge. The rest was great. Daytime stuff looked way better than that screenshot shows.

Ok, looks like there is a 7 pm and 10 pm at my local theater so I will try the 7 pm. Thanks.

The reason to see it in IMAX is the insanely superior sound system that should come with it.

If I saw this movie and the sound was anything less than stellar I'd be so mad. I want my chair to quake when shit is going on.

For those going to the first showing to get the poster, don't forget to bring a rubber band. They usually just hand you the poster as you enter and you have to roll it and hold it during the film. This happened in the last two screenings I went to where there were giveaways.

Hype going to dangerous levels as Thursday approaches!

Nah then it gets all roll bent and shit. Just keep it flat. If it's off your wall for longer than a day then something is wrong with you anyways.

Has anyone heard anything about the 3D? Is it going to destroy the experience if I have to see it in 3D or is it alright?

I won't see the movie for a few weeks, but I'm already thinking ahead on how this will end up being my defacto home theater reference disc. I don't think there's any way that GDT allows a bad transfer on this.
