Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

There's a boxing ring you can put in your house, but there aren't any boxing gloves. You can also install a bowling alley, but you can't actually bowl. They're both for show. On the other hand, boxing and bowling are huge parts of Wii Sports, which is why it doesn't make sense to give the Villager that kind of representation instead of a prospective Mii. It makes even less sense to muddy their individuality by giving them both boxing and bowling moves, which is partly why I doubt Miis will be playable.
You're assuming Mii has to have a moveset fully encompassed by Wii Sports, we could easily have a few attacks involving some sports equipment, but there is a lot of other games to pull stuff from besides Wii Sports. Someone already brought up Pilotwings Resort, there is also Street Pass Quest, Wii Sports Resort, Play, Party and even Nintendo Land. If Sakurai really wanted there is a lot you could pull from before encroaching upon Villager or Wii Fit Trainer's moveset, which isn't even a big deal in a series where we've had three different versions of Link playable.

Not fully, no, but focally. Wii Sports is far and away the most popular Mii-based game, and so it's only logical that Sakurai would pull from that for the Mii's more important attacks. I can't imagine any situation where boxing and bowling would be passed over for a Mii in favor of Villager. They're barely (if at all) associated with Animal Crossing, whereas they're two of the Mii's closest associations. It only makes sense to give Villager those attacks if the Mii isn't playable. Otherwise, it's a baffling design decision. Sakurai could have pulled from any number of Animal Crossing furniture pieces/tools/NES games, but he deliberately went with boxing and bowling. You don't think that's a little odd?

Don't know if it has been discussed already but I'd love to see a stage based on Nintendoland's Plaza.

The battle starts at top of the Central Towel. The platform rotating to see all the games entrances and it will slowly descend to the floor where Monita would be waiting for the players and throwing items and the Smash ball.

All the Miis jumping and screaming like a real crowd in the background.

Man, I don't know why I do this to myself :(

No, I don't find it odd at all. No more odd than Villager using a Balloon Fighter hat. As far as Mii's most important attacks, there is a lot more to choose from than just bowling and boxing. As I said before, between all of the various Wii series games there is a lot Sakurai could still utilize to create a different moveset. Instruments, frisbees, cows, swords, tanks, etc.

Nintendo Land stage:

- Starts off at plaza
- Then goes to the attractions
- Action is going on in the background
And most importantly...
-
Ridley is too big to fit on the screen in the Metroid attraction, so you can't see it's whole body

Personally I would love for Find Mii to be the basis of the mii moveset. Sword & shield>a tennis racket.

Meh, I think we've got quite enough swords in Smash at this point. And being a 3DS-exclusive experience, I don't really think Find Mii would have a ton of influence.

That fourth point really made me laugh haha

I associate Miis with the system profile rather than Wii Sports now thanks to Mii Plaza and the WaraWara Plaza. Also if they do make it in it would be interesting to see what body type they go with. Depending on the situation Miis go from being basically a head on a stick to having proper limbs.

More appropriate: Raining coins that do absolutely nothing.

One fucking million coins Nintendo. One. Million.
Nintendo: Never bested when it comes to trolling.

I want Mewtwo and Palutena in just so we can have more characters that take a less physical bashing/slashing approach. I really liked Mewtwo in Melee because it felt like you were playing as a crazy powerful psychic, unlike Ness who just feels like a floaty black mage.

I'm not too familiar with Fire Emblem characters, maybe also a magic user from that series? Also give Ganny some sorcerer powers like them energy balls you could play tennis with.

Give Ganondorf an attack set representative of the game he comes from. He isn't Black Shadow or Deathborn from F-Zero.

And I'd like to see some Golden Sun representation if possible and if not put Golden Sun music on a stage that isn't kinda ugh. Much like how Norfair was.

Like Ryce said, no one is a shoe-in. I learned that in hard way during Brawl hype.

No, she isn't. I'm worried about Palutena, Little Mac, Takamaru, and several characters, so the waiting is going to be hellacious fun.
Yeah, seriously. There are no shoo-ins left.

Shoo-in is a term I would reserve for Bowser pre-Melee or Wario pre-Brawl. Absolutely no potential newcomer left is in that caliber, and the fact that we are down to a second Kid Icarus character as one of the potential "shoo-ins" shows just how far off the mark from anything resembling that we are.

Except Sakurai made Uprising, so I would be really surprised if we didn't have a second Kid Icarus character.

We technically already have Dark Pit. All Pit needs is color swap and since we got the same VA(if Uprising VA role is reused), some altered lines to fit the twin's personality. Boom.

Yeah, but no. People have been saying that since Melee.
During Melee and Brawl Little Mac hadn't been in a modern game. It's different story now. Punch-Out!! on the Wii breathed new life into Little Mac's relevance. Not to mention the fact that Punch-Out is the one historical Nintendo franchise left without a character. I still stand by my statement that he's a "shoo-in." I am 99.9% confident that we will see him in the game.

Sakurai can do whatever he wants with ganondorf but warlock punch and his down air must be left untouched aside for having less lag maybe.

Is there any reason to think Sakurai is predisposed to include his own characters? It took three Smash titles before there was more than one Kirby character, even though it absolutely deserved a second character by Melee, certainly more than Kid Icarus deserves a second character now. Kirby's character representation is pretty fair considering how big the series is (bigger than most give it credit for).

Flame Choke is one of Ganny's greatest editions. And it is satisfying to simply drag your opponent to their doom off of a stage. Should be a keeper.

I'm not sure anyone could predict what Sakurai is predisposed to doing. He has added three characters from Star Fox, which I can't even remember what the last game of that was. Assault maybe? I dunno. He added Wii Fit Trainer, a character no one saw coming. We still don't have a second representative from Metroid. We never legitimately got Lucas' game localized outside of Japan and I'm not even sure what happened with the Fire Emblem that Roy was from yet they were both included.

I sometimes think Sakurai himself has no idea what he's doing until he does it, and then he somehow makes it work and it becomes magical~

What Nintendo should do to help promote this game until release is put some footage at the end of some other game's trailers.

For example, in a W101 trailer, have the "Warning, challenger approaching" at the end and have footage of X character in Smash Brothers. Seems like it could be great promotion for both titles.

I think a fair few watched the Pikmin direct hoping that it would result in an announcement like this. Nothing happened like, but I'm pretty sure it would work well.I started playing Megaman as a result of his announcement, and also with Punch-out over Little Mac possible shoe-in-ness.

Including a demo/beta in any other game would also work incredibly well for Nintendo. I'm sure I'd buy pretty much anything for that.

The fucking stupidest thing they've ever done.

You can at least argue underpowered specs and blah blah blah targeting specific segments of the market, but from what possible fucking world could 'unauthorised' streams of SSBM - a fucking decade old game - hurt Nintey?

I'm just completely fucking amazed... only a few days before the event starts for a decade old game. They just banned a game from being streamed from the biggest fighting game tournament in the world that gets thousands of streamers and could have helped raise awareness for the Smash series prior to the new games. What really stings is that people donated a shit ton of money in a fundraiser in order to get this game in the show in the first place. Yeah I never expect a Nintendo game such as Smash to ever get in a competitive gaming show again.

Just goes to show how much of a bubble Nintendo lives in and how out of touch the business side of them are.

So....NOA has lost it...

Seriously. What an idiotic thing to do.

Yea, WTF is up with that shit.

The fucking stupidest thing they've ever done.

Yeah, what the fuck are they thinking? I don't get it.

Well, I think Nintendo of America don't want them to make profits from their own game. That's only one reason I could came up with for them to not allowing Melee on Stream.

The fact that people donated money for it to be there/see it and for cancer research puts them a verry bad light.

I curious to see if they change their mind.

So....NOA has lost it...

Man. If they really go through with this, I'm going to have to question my trust in them as a company. They do a lot of questionable things to their fanbase, but this is pure idiocy. Streaming Melee at EVO can do nothing but incredible good for them. What do they think is at risk by showing a 12-year-old game on the internet? Man. I'm a pretty diehard Nintendo fan, but this is insane.
