I hope people do some type of protest at EVO. Be it via signs, costumes or other creative and playful means. If they didn't want an EVO presence bring bad publicity to them, make sure it does now, while still behaving decently so the players don't look bad and just for decency's sake.

I don't understand Nintendo at all. Such a weird company that seems to live in it's own little bubble. Nintendo Land irl.

lol it's actually quite humorous how fucking dumb this is. just a few days before the tournament. people donated money to see this.

what the fuck.
They should have said this day one. Skullgirls could have built a lot more momentum and we'd have the slot now.

Man, fuck this company right now.

It's as if Nintendo finds a way to do exactly the opposite of what they need to do considering their current situation. Nintendo magic... I guess?? I wouldn't be surprised if they don't reverse their decision, people will boycott the next smash out of spite.

What these idiots at NOA ought to be doing is using the tournament as a place to advertise their products like all the other companies do. They ought to go the next step and have a stream of the tourney available on the Wii U. But no, keep showing your manufactured, fake-ass family TVCM's that resonate with absolutely no one, and will be seen by no one because they're too busy playing on their smartphones and next-gen consoles. Wake the fuck up morons, you are pissing away the only group of people left that is willing to invest heavily in your products.

Nintendo are run by old people that are afraid to do their taxes on a computer because they watched the movie Hackers.

Should've protested by showing PS All Stars instead:p

But they were fine with Apex? What's Nintendo's criteria then? 'be smaller than evo and mlg'

Or just don't ask nintendo.

Evo's on a whole different level than Apex. Plus they probably saw the article about it today on Penny Arcade Report and were like "wtf fire up the cease and desist machine."

And what do you tell all the people who made the trip to the tournament and the people who contributed to the fundraiser?

So Ninty is just being dickheads for dickhead sake?

So they went after all those youtube Let's Play uploaders, then backed off, then came roaring back with this debacle, amazing!

This...

This shit right here... how can you even defend it? this is beyond disgusting.

My god seriously, this is the stuff you totally shouldn't do to me.

From a non fighting game person, why no Virtua Fighter?
Fighting games have to get a certain number of entrants to be put on EVO and even then there are limited slots. SCV would've gotten in before VF, hardly anyone plays VF.

Smash has the 3rd highest number of entrants right below the 2 big Capcom games SF4 and Marvel.

can't even watch it unless you're there. but you guys have a point.

Yeah it sucks for viewers, but people at the event will still be able to watch and most importantly, the players will still get to compete.

I do hope this causes people at EVO to have a negative opinion of NoA and maybe later down the road causes them not to buy the WiiU and the next Smash. NoA needs to learn a lesson and like any other large corporation, the only thing they listen to is $$.

Nah they did this with MLG too.

Yeah. Keits on twitter went to the "maybe part of it is the negative association with the FGC" route for a sec on twitter before someone corrected him.

99.94% sure this has absolutely zero to do with the players, and almost everything to do with the legal reasoning that got Nintendo "Lets Plays" put in the news cycle for a second. This is likely a matter of them wanting to be in charge of how the playing of their games is portrayed in any form of media.

I'm serious, have people carry signs with stuff "I'm playing the game Nintendo doesn't want me to play" etc at EVO and make sure it gets stream and press time.

"Hey, look these hardcore fans of our game raised $90k for breast cancer to get it into the largest fighting game tournament in the world. Wouldn't this be a great oppurtunity to pimp that fact for some good mainstream press while simultaneously advertising the sequel for that game coming next year? Maybe we could even show a trailer at the event!"

"Fuck that. I hate awareness, goodwill, and fun. Especially fuck fun. Shut these cocksuckers down."

Well that's some comedic timing after Sakurai confirmed that Smash isn't a fighting game, then NoA gets it banned from streaming at the biggest fighting game tournament in the world.

Did they not hear about the $95k raised? I'd understand if NoJ didn't, but the US side?

Beyond ridiculous. I sure hope people are making a fuss on Twitter or something about this. Maybe HQ can send NoA a line.

I absolutely love SSBM, played it so hard and have always defended it as a legitimate competitive game and was really looking forward to being able to watch this at evo. Why do you do this to the fans Nintendo, why? PISSED.

What the fuck Nintendo. Come on, seriously? What possible logical reasoning could be behind this other than some kind of gorilla showmanship?
