What exactly did he pass away from?
The family hasn't released anything publicly and it is up to them to reveal that if they choose to.

Natural causes. Better that we all leave it at that.
Man, Ryans dad keeps posting all this pictures on his Twitter.
The feels man.
I wonder if there will be a bombcast this week. Probably way too soon.... that would be an incredibly tough show to do.

Fuck man, he was way too young to pass away =\
R.I.P. Mr. Davis
Hey everybody, it's T-- too soon.![]()
What is his dad's twitter?
This is still so bizarre btw, even after a day.
I'm thinking of making a tread along the lines of "I'm getting a Giant Bomb subscription, who else?", would it be in poor taste? I'm very ambivalent about it so if you guys think it would be in poor taste, I'll just skip it. It wouldn't be some kind of huge charity drive like 8bit tried to do, just a small thread encouraging people to support the GB guys in the best way we can right now. So, unnecessary and in poor taste or ok?
I kinda wish I actually watched more Giant Bomb streams. I always caught the odd quick look and round table discussion video stream, and Giant Bomb has never really failed to amuse me. I always liked their less serious and more laid back approach to the industry.
You talk as if its the end of Giant Bomb. Its not. If anything, this will make them stronger as a team. They will take time to get over their loss, but if you are familiar with the lads, you know they will bounce back and continue to be the best in the industry.
He will always be remembered as one of the founders of Giant Bomb, but we will enter into a new era. Im still in a state of shock, as im sure everyone is....but think positively. From tragedy positive things emerge.
Jesus, guys. Does it really matter?
I'm a positive guy -- and I wrote my feelings on Ryan's passing earlier in the thread -- but let's be honest: their site will change quite a lot. The whimsical and care-free attitude they all had just doesn't jive with one of the founders passing away before the age of 35, especially when he was the linchpin for pretty much all of their programming.
I'm sad that this will be the case, but by necessity, the vibe and feeling of what they do will be very, very different for a long time. But they will carry on. I would expect nothing less from such an awesome group of people.
Big love to all of those affected, once again.

Where did the name taswell come from?
Yeah, apparently it was not his real middle name but his great grandfather's. He liked the name so much that he decided to use it (that's according to his father on twitter).
Appreciate what you're saying, but I just cannot see Jeff, Brad, Vinny and co just moping around and losing what made them so likeable. They will all want to honour Ryan by continuing on and doing what they do, I imagine the lads knew about Ryan pretty much immediately after it happened and they were asked to not make it public in respect to his family.
Yesterday would have been extremely tough for them as it reopened a fresh wound. They will move on and be the crew we all know and love, im positive of that. Various tweets from the guys have reassured me they will move on

quoting myself from the other thread.
Believe me: I want the site to continue on and bring us all lots of joy. But for them to ignore the fact that one of their best buddies went down this way and not change up how they approach things a bit -- even their lives -- is naive, I feel.
what time is the bombcast usually up in eastern time?

On people debating on if the bombcast will continue or not - you realize this is still their job, right? Laid back or not, they still have an obligation to carry on, especially for those who pay money monthly for the services provided.
I hope they're coping with this well enough.
People die, life goes on.
I know it sounds tough but the site won't be dedicated to mourn Ryan Davis forever. You talk as if no one would be able to laugh on a live show again without feeling guilty or something. It just needs time. Jeff's already randomly talking about Animal Crossing on his twitter account. They're entertainers and they'll do what they know how to do. Giantbomb's cofounder is the guy who pretty much started videogame journalism as we know it. They'll deal.
