Yay, got my own personal chocobo.

Tiem to try the new dungeon.

Does anyone know, is the first month's subscription free if you buy the game?

EDIT: I found the answer, it does include 30 days of free time for new accounts.

Why is there no auto-translate for spells? Like if I wanted to tell someone to Sleep or Repose an enemy, I can't find those in the auto-translate...
Not sure what repose is called, but for sleep maybe you can try typing suri-pu, the Japanese should understand that since it's katakana

Sorry for the random question guys but i was wondering can you change the color of the armor sets? For example can you make a white Dragoon armor?

Hey, everyone!

Anyone have a PC beta code left over?

I seemingly made my account in the UK so I can't use it.

I'm in the US ~

I would greatly appreciate some help *^*

*edit*

I have the code for the UK beta test, if anyone would like to trade or needs it. PM me.

So are the servers up in NA yet? I tried two hours ago, then ago just now and my PS3 says it can't connect to the server. I know its not my problem either as I've been playing TLOU VS while I wait.

I'll ask in here because I'm not having much luck in game:

I'm lagging out constantly in game. So players and mobs running past me will stop momentarily before lagging back into the game. It happens more in stuff like FATEs and I'm worried it will in dungeons as well - which would be shit because I really want to sub to this and play with my mates.

I had the exact same problem with FFXIV 1.0 but since then my internet has been upgraded and is like 10 times faster than it was.

Someone in game suggested resetting my tcp/ip - which I think I have done going through cmd - but it hasn't seemed to make much difference.

I'm now getting 0 sent 0 received on occasion and completely lagging out.

Has anyone had the same problem or has any idea how to fix it?

Was only able to play for 20 minutes this morning, before leaving for work. I did have enough time to dye my armor black however, instead of the White that's everywhere now.

Not bad, but I'm dying to move away from the Heavy Iron Armor set. The stats on it are pretty good, despite the inability to equip helmets and leg armor while wearing it, but its just so ugly!

Besides, I look like Alphonse Elric! :P

Anyone know if it's possible to get the onion set in ARR? I have it on my 1.0 character but I was going to delete him and start fresh

I'm looking forward to add-ons. I need one to alert me when I need to dispel/esuna people, lol. WoW made me lazy with those type of add-ons. It would be easier if debuffs on people were in a different place (or bigger) than buffs, but they all appear on the same bar next to their name, so I can't tell what is a buff and what is a debuff.

Geeze, I got a party for Ifrit with the Duty Finder. Everyone in the party but me died at like 50%. As an archer, I was able to kite Ifrit down to about 15% before I died myself :(

I thought I was going to solo that damn boss lol

I noticed debuffslike poison will always pop up to the left of buffs, that's how I usually know. Well that and I now know the icon for poison :-)

Hmm, I'll try to keep an eye for the position of the debuffs then. And I started to learn what poison looked like, but it also was very similar to a buff the Gladiator kept doing. Oh well, I'll learn them eventually.

I do think an add-on would be helpful for that type of thing, though.

First time I've been stuck in this game. I'm on "The Company You Keep" quest and I get hammered every time. And I'm a Conjurer so there's not much I can do.

That duty finder is pretty good. It did take awhile to get in group for sastasha but it made all the difference. And I got some guildhests done too.

Loving that tool. Admittedly, I'm a little less likely to friend people I'm thrown together with randomly, but I wasn't doing that much anyway, since almost everyone is gonna be wiped in a week anyway.

Since playing and really enjoying ARR's Beta, I've been trying to dig up info where ever I could.

Here are a few sources I've come across that I think are informative, if not entertaining.

Youtube Channels
Official Youtube Channel for FFXI ARR (Duh, I know) Obviously the place to get all the official news and Dev Commentary videos, which by the way are great.

What in the Lore? Is a cool channel discussing Lore of the races/places and events of ARR's world. It even discusses the different naming conventions of the races, cool stuff.

Mr. Happy's 101 Series Is a pretty cool primer designed for new players and 1.0 Vets alike. Though he is bound by the NDA preventing him from displaying video, he makes the most of it with screenshots and good explanations.

YOGSCAST Is the only site allowed to show actual video, while fairly basic, still can give a good idea of how the first parts of the game work.

Websites
The Lodestone (Beta) Official Site for ARR. A great place for immediate info and checking out your characters/friends/blogging, etc.

FFXIV Guild A pretty cool information site that has Guides on stats, skills and a bunch of other things, good information, well laid out.

XIVDB A database with a ton of info on items, skills, recipes, etc. The recently added a "Maps of Eorzea" section which is pretty great.

Thats all I have at the moment, if you have any that you'd like to recommend please share!

EDIT: Wanted to post an updated pic of my Pugilist, love that Armor.

I'm actually kind of worried about making friends in the game, I haven't really gotten the chance to talk to much people, I've only helped a few people in their quests because they couldn't solo a few mobs, but that's really kind of rare... none of the quests I've done actually requires help.

I know there's guildhests and stuff, but I wish they'd toss a few obstacles here and there so people will have reasons to team up.

played on lala last weekend as a gld and disliking it way less now
still not as cute as taru
now I'm having an even harder time choosing which race to play as*

*assuming legacy still get to remake the toon

Yeah I accepted they are not Taru-tier but can at least make them look less creepy with the right customization.

We can be friends. I'll never make any thanks to my unpredictable overnight work schedule.

So are we allowed to post gameplay videos of the beta on YouTube without it being removed by SE. I just want to know since I've been dying to make a gameplay video of the beta.

Buff icons and debuff icons have different shapes: they're shaped like an arrow pointing up (for buffs) or down (for debuffs).

Hah yeah Ifrit
is so easy, just gotta watch the ground for the fire burst in/out mechanic past 50%,
but good luck explaining that to your group using a virtual keyboard. They go splat!

Shouldn't worry most debuffs last for 3-5 seconds so its hardly even worth dispelling them :(

Oh it took me forever to figure that out. Once I did though, and I was able to convey this to the rest of the party, he did end up going down fairly easily.

The problem of course is that, unless a party is going in with somebody whose done it before, there's no way for them to figure this out without some trial and error. Which can really frustrate some players, and make them sloppy, reducing the chances that they'll notice Ifrits attack patterns.

I'll probably help out with Ifrit a few times before the beta ends, for this reason alone. I'd like to spare a few players the frustration of that trial and error.

I really like this new duty finder it works really well and it's pretty quick. Also really liking the black mage play style swapping between Astral Fire and Umbral Ice for mp regen it really works well.

So much more fun playing with experienced players! Of course, it is a new MMO but it is using tried and true MMO boss mechanics so far. Familiar strategy to experts, but yeah, I saw a lot of people get burnt up on the very first AE multiple times. Haha... back of the line on duty finder!
