When they removed gob trains things weren't the same again. That magic was lost. You know this in your soul to be true.

It was hilarious watching everyone sprint towards the zone when a gob train was coming through. It definitely was a love/hate part of XI.

Dynamis on the other hand... blah.

One of my most terrifying memories playing XI was falling down the first hole at Garlaige Citadel to that hellhole of wights bellow. I had just leveled and didn't want to lose being able to wield my new Dark Staff. After like 20 minutes of shouting for help, a group of JP players came out of the darkness, who by my level could tell what had happened. They signaled me to follow and a while later I was breathing the fresh air again. That was during my first month playing the game.

My reaction: ...how did you hit level 51 in a month!?

(I'm joking, referencing the days when I leveled BLM.)

To wield the Dark Staff, one must first overcome the truest trial of darkness.

Updated the game client and now I am ready for my first taste of FFXIV:ARR.

Come on servers, please go up before I go to work.

Anyone know how to continue the Limsa sotry line after completing the Lominsian Escort mission? I see a red key quest that I can't access yet but after searching all the maps and visiting everywhere I have no more story missions nor do I know where I am supposed to go next. Also where is the dye quest?

Is there any way on keyboard to cycle all targets and not just enemies? I know you can change the filters so you have targeting mode set to "all". But the "TAB" keybind is still defaulted to "cycle through enemies". And in that keybind page, I can't see anything that talks about cycling through other types of targets.

It's always "nearest" or "last" or "next". Want to be able to cycle through NPCs or PCs if needed.

(Either that or I've cocked something up by messing with the controls too much xD )

Sorry -- not sure about the LL storyline mission, but the dye quest is in Vesper Bay. You'll need an orange juice to complete the quest so you might want to pick one of those up to start/finish it all at the same time when you get to Vesper Bay.

The guard that let you in to talk to the ul'dah leader gives you the next quest. Dye Quest is in Vesper Bay in West Thanalan.

I heard the num pad arrows are the same as the controller dpad by default.

Thanks for the help.

Haha last minute beta invite from PSN messages last night! Really stoked to try it later tonight.

So is there voice chat or an easy to use message system for console players?

That sounds legit awesome, one of the things I love a good mmo experience for.

Im fine with different sets of gear for different situations, planning ahead. I'm not fine with doing it mid-fight.

I completely agree. Multiple sets is great I think. But swapping in the middle of a fight is ridiculous. Worst thing about FFXI.

Question Gaf, for those of you who pre-ordered the game in Canada. Did you get a code or something with your pre-order for the early access?

I ordered online and got my pre-order code on May 30. EBGames.ca.

Whats the fastest way to farm Company Seals? Need 15k for a cocobo and already did all the Grand Company stuff in all 3 regions.

Chocobo is only 1k seals, you must be mistaken for something else. I don't think there's anything that costs 15k in the low ranks anyway.

Is anyone else finding it a little awkward* managing their inventory and armory?

I love the convenience of it in principle, but it seems to be seriously lacking a 'Sort by' function in its current implementation, or an option to grey out all non-equippable gear.

*And I do mean just a little awkward, it's not super-annoying or anuything. I suppose this 'Sort by' thing is standing out to me though because it's pretty much the one thing in the game which is the source of some (albeit minor) frustration to me.

Dynamis was coma inducing.

So true. :/

The only fun in Dynamis came from very low man groups I did farming Xarcabard. I had an alt character that I would use with some of my other friends leaving my main free to still do Dynamis with my LS. We were each dualboxing/windowing another character, so we had 6 characters usually (done by 3-4 people). This was when the cap was still 75. We got quite a few AF by just killing the... I don't know what you wanna call them - minibosses? The ones that were specific jobs and had a chance to drop their job's AF. Was really fun just doing that and not farming regular enemies forever like in normal dynamis.

In my regular dynamis runs, I was usually Bard which was sooooo boring. I tried to spice it up by sleeping enemies a lot, but that isn't exactly exciting either.

I think they are adding a Sort by option in Phase 4 or at launch. I hope they are anyways... It really needs one. :(

you only need 1000 seals for a chocobo.... maybe you are looking at the wrong thing?
I generally just run fates in south shroud while I use duty finder/leaves.

You can go to places like drybone and do GC leves

Yeah I misread something. Already got it :) Is there something to do after you finish this quest besides rerunning the dungeons?
Also thanks for the other answers.

Hey, got a little bit of a problem the CE for the PC version is already fully booked but not the PS3 version so I am wondering can you buy PS3 version and play on PC ?

Story quests are over. So it's all down to dungeons, FATEs, leveling other classes, crafting, gathering, etc.

As long as you have the PC version of the game already, you can use the PS3 CE code to get the extras I believe.

I gave my beta code away to a friend some weeks back and now he finally got one of his own, so he sent it to me now that I have time for it.

Any tips for somebody starting out today? I played a good deal of FFXI and some other MMO's so I'm not a newbie, just wondering if there's any special FFXIV stuff I should know. :)

Inventory management is absolutely terrible. Honestly it's the worst thing I've encountered in the game and, like you, the one thing in the game which is a constant source of frustration. For all the bad things about the 1.x interface, managing items was easier there (categorical list) than it is here... holy shit SE give me a list interface or an autosort or at least let me see all my bags at once or something. -_-

I hear there is a sort button in the game that doesn't do anything yet but I didn't notice it. I really don't care how it sorts--as long as there is some kind of sorting algorithm I can adapt to it.

There is an auto-sort function but it is currently disabled. You can find the option in system or character configuration, but I don't remember which. I seem to recall this working during phase 1 but I might be remembering wrong. This should be available during phase 4 or launch.

Why is there no auto-translate for spells? Like if I wanted to tell someone to Sleep or Repose an enemy, I can't find those in the auto-translate...

Does pre-ordering grant beta access? The website just says early access. Not sure if that means a few days before launch or beta.
