Fighting Games Weekly | July 8-14 | All roads lead here

Supposedly, triforce has dirty files on everyone in the Fgc and he's going to release it after vxg. He said it will destroy the Fgc or something

Makes sense. Got to have a backup plan in case anybody gets off the island.

Everyone but the Evo staff being godlike.

But, but...logistics!

Damn JamesMK really hates Chindogg huh.

Saying he's the one who snitched on OBS.

Wat.

A stream has over 1000 views, gets flagged for putting up a borderline hate speech video. Then the next week, while still flagged, goes into a discussion about rape vans.

Yet me, a lowly mod for a few FG streams, somehow has this immense power to singlehandidly get a show banned.

Damn, if I knew I had this kind of power I would have shut down quite a few streams.

But if he did that he would have no leverage anymore.

How to tell if FChamp is sandbagging:

1) Picking Phoenix
2) Not picking Missiles
3) Tea bags mid match

Taekwa just 3-0'd FChamp (with his Phoenix team)

Didn't he do terrible at the Seasons Beatings team tourney a whiles back? Damn he improved, and he also beat Moons (it was a lot closer tho)

FChamp Phoenix team keeps getting mauled haha.

Both MVC3 being made and Vergil were more unexpected than Dante in MVC. Dante is a staple character for Capcom, no way they would've launched MVC3 without. Really though he should've been in TvC too but that game was more about the obscure characters.

Vergil was way less iconic and known than Dante at the time. You only knew about him if you played DMC3. He was more a fan favorite but he got great poll results and that's probably how he got in (plus it helps to have some DMC fans on the staff). Still it was a long shot especially when he beat someone like Megaman for the slot.

I think the combo of "marvel 3 actually happening' and 'they put Dante in and he looks fuckin great' beats out Vergil. When UMVC3 was announced, Vergil felt like a safe bet since they not only went with DMC3 Dante, but took great care in translating him over. It's still impressive he made it in, though, I agree. Vergil pushing the franchise representation to three characters was a good argument against the possibility of his inclusion.

I like Taekua's team as far as optimizing for on point Vergil goes. Its cheap but once point Vergil dies the team folds a bit. Still the team is functional in every order and DHCs back and forth with air hypers, safe hypers and air to ground DHCs.

Like Magus said, it's a very good "tournament" team.

They said that they would put all the fan favorites over, and they kept to their word. Phoenix Wright, Strider, Vergil and West all polled high and deservingly got into the roster. The only one to be left out is Megaman X, and they have explained countless times why he got left out (hard to put into the game, Zero is the Megaman representative) that people just flat out ignore.

I didn't realize that only one character was allowed from each Capcom franchise!

Although I will accept that X would have been more broken than vanilla Dark Phoenix. XDoom would have put MorriDoom to shame.

When I went to sleep last night, I was very ready to sell my WiiU and forget about Nintendo entirely. I would still like to see a game worth my time on the WiiU though.

Will there be a GAF-only chat during EVO? I should probably just use the Twitch chat since I finally have access to it.

Knowing it would be his last game appearance sort of soured it, though :(

It's super hilarious in hindsight to play mission 20 in DMC3, though, because Vergil does teleport helm breakers all day and spiral swords is just as dumb as it is in marvel. He also activates that devil trigger x-factor when he starts losing and builds all his life back while one-shotting you. MvC3 Dante and Vergil are pretty amazing adaptations of the characters in fighting game form.

Well, when he was first revealed, DmC was but a whisper in the wind.

Neo_G did a fantastic job adapting these characters true to their in-game selves, and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Believe me.

Vergil was hype, but it was more expected than holy shit wow they're actually doing MvC3 and they put Dante in!

As DahBomb said, Vergil was just an unlikely choice provided the scenario at the time. He was only in one game, and the roster already had two DMC characters in it. There were plenty of more obvious choices for Capcom to go with. Dante was pretty much revealed in the first real trailer, and MvC3 being released at all was a huge shock to everyone. The inclusion of Dante just compounded that for me.

Excitement built up as gameplay demos cropped up on the internet showcasing Dante's "40 moves". I still remember Mike Ross saying something along the lines of "Why does this guy have so many moves?" and I practically replied to my computer monitor with "Because it's fucking Dante, Mike." I was ecstatic.

I feel like we got a glimpse of what the real FChamp looks like at Curleh Mustache. Nevermind that he didn't win the tournament, he was pulling off some crazy reset mindgames against Infrit in their set. It seemed like he was presenting some new angles to some of his old stuff.

Hey guys I tracked down the author of the 13 page Smash Brothers Melee Evo Preview that James Chen mentioned last night, his name is El-Prog on reddit. He was happy to share the info and said I could put it up here. Its an amazing read:

Pikachad (Pikachu/Fox/Mario/Link) - Mississippi, the second best Pikachu behind Axe, a lot more defensive and cautious playstyle
9th - FC Legacy

That's my dude, he has my support

Thanks! Was his performance at CM even mentioned?
I just got back into this thread so it took a while to answer questions.

FChamp didn't really come on the mic much it was mostly Magus and ShadyK.. They were both making fun of FChamp amd saying he's washed up and shit. Out of the gods, ShadyK likes FChamp least to make it into top 8.

And yea FChamp at CM was more representative of "EVO" Champ than the Champ at WM W. Champ wasn't nervous or sweating bullets at WMW and he never picked his shit on stream.
