Pacific Rim |OT| Apocalypse Never

Whoever's sending in reviews to be counted hasn't gotten around to the big-fat AV Club review I previously mentioned. In fact, a low-profile rotten review just went up. Huh.

Hope you guys enjoy the Thursday screenings!

Just asked, it's regular poster size according to my manager.
GAH! Now I have to find somewhere [that ships to Canada] to purchase it! Unfortunately the only ones I can find only ship within the US.

I just bought the IMAX one off of Ebay [for $34 shipped], although the one I really want is the Yoji Shinkawa one. Of course, that's the one available outside Canada. -_-

I really need the poster Shinkawa worked on.

I did this on MiiVerse

Nearest Regal Cinema is 40 min - an hour away. Nearest Imax3D theatre is 25 min away. Factor in gas...Savings from going to Imax3d to regular 3d...choices, choices...

If only one poster featured Cherno Alpha, my decision would be so much easier.

It's Yoji Shinkawa
and you can sell it to me at a decent cost
.

I think it's obvious which one to go with [although the IMAX poster is great, as well]. :)

The nearest Regal has shit sound...and the other ones are a bit of a drive...plus I was gonna see it in 2D

motherfuck

Haha, I'm watching the auctions for the Pacific Rim posters and they're insane.

The IMAX ones are selling out shortly after being posted, unfortunately there's not many for the Yoji Shinkawa version [aside from one that only ships to the US, apparently, it's also EXPENSIVE]. It's still early, though, I'm hoping a few pop up later.

Reminds me of bidding on MGS art books.

I'll have to take your word for it [since I missed that event].

It is nice to see, though. So much hype surrounding this film, I just hope it pulls some decent numbers through this weekend [as well as the days leading up].

I haven't even seen it yet, and I already desire a sequel.

Yeah, after the showing they will drop. So far they always end up around $15

Hopefully.

The IMAX one will likely be a bit more rare since there doesn't seem to be as many IMAX theaters when compared to Regal, although I could be wrong.

I'm waiting to see the Yoji Shinkawa priced around $15-$20 [with around $10 or so shipping to Canada] before I bite. The IMAX one, as I mentioned earlier, I got for $10, although shipping was a bit more expensive than I would have liked.

Yoko Shinkawa has that effect on people, man. When I was in the US this past March, I bought a Shinkawa Metal Gear Rising t-shirt for $30 because it was the last one left in the tri-state area, even though it was a size too small for me. I bought an overpriced t-shirt, manually stretched it out to my size (carefully as to avoid distorting the art), and still to this day avoid machine drying it because it was done by Yoko motherflippin' Shinkawa, and the best part is my behaviour is considered perfectly rational in regards to the effect this artist has on people.

Just bought one of the IMAX posters on Ebay for $9.99 + shipping. Anyone know if the Shinkawa posters are 24x36 or are they smaller like the IMAX posters?

Hopefully.

Even the Englert Star Trek IMAX posters were only about $10-15 on release day. If you wait until tomorrow night, you can get a good deal. That said, if it flops, much less people will have them for sale :(

There's a Regal Real3D showing at 7pm tomorrow about a mile from my house. Then there's an IMAX showing at 10pm about 3 miles from my house. The IMAX theater is newer and much nicer. But that real3d poster is so sick. I can't handle these high pressure decisions man.

I think I'm gonna watch Hellboy 2 tonight. Gonna get my del Toro on. First time I would ever watch it on blu-ray too :3

- Go to Regal Theater, purchase ticket for Pacific Rim, get Yoji Shinkawa poster
- Enjoy watching Pacific Rim
- Once the movie ends, drive as fast [while remaining safe] as possible to IMAX showing
- Purchase an IMAX ticket and receive IMAX-exclusive poster
- Enjoy watching Pacific Rim...again
- When you return home, frame both of the posters and hang them carefully on your wall
- Smile to yourself at a job well-done

[In all seriousness, both posters are great. If you think the IMAX showing will be better, go there. You can always grab the Yoji Shinkawa off of Ebay later if you really want it.]

That's my dilemma. Total dump. Big new sexy imax theater down the street.

Edit - A double header?? So crazy it just might work...

Ahem. 'Yoji' Shinkawa.

Excuse me sir, I haven't had my coffee.

It's okay, he/she doesn't understand how tiring it can be sometimes living in Canada. We need our coffee!

I was up until the early-hours this morning riding my battle-armored moose waging war upon the bloodthirsty beavers who were raiding my maple syrup supply.

Do not worry. I fended them off using multiple pounds of bagged milk as projectiles. Who knew beavers hated milk so much?

If only we could train these beavers to cross the border into the US, use money, retrieve numerous Yoji Shinkawa-illustrated Pacific Rim posters, and bring them back here. Our problems could be so easily solved!

Stacker Pentecost is the coolest name in the history of cheesy names, just getting it out of my chest

ps I watched Elba at Letterman on YT....haha, good interview

the movie climaxed way too early.

the ending felt meager versus the city-scene from the trailers.

Just got back from a screening of the film. It is basically a Westernized Evangelion. This is not very necessarily a bad thing. Very much enjoyed it.
