New Killzone: Shadow Fall gameplay

I think the term is beaten to death, the game looks just fine, and I can't believe people are still doubting the A.I. This is a demo, and almost everyone that's played it so far on footage is terrible. You want them to ramp up the A.I more for these people?

AI shouldnt change behaviors for difficulty reasons. Only their health and damage output.

For starters, yes KZ 2 had some of the BEST AI, from the range of tactical movements they do to how they engage you. It had such a tactical feel to it and they did challenge you. Not once did I feel Halo 3 has "good ai" when I was playing it. It was just a lot of enemies being thrown at you. Probably the same people who think enemies flanking you in The last of us is "bad ai"

I would put 100$ in this being on easy difficulty too.

The game play in its self for me is exciting and something I am looking forward too.
They have shown that KZSF will have moments were you can play how you want, you can pace the game, your decision on how you tackle the objective, you can take your time in a sense.

The OWL in its self is incredible too, from the large amount of options it allows to how it will change how the game will be played. I don't think many people understand how much this will change and enhance the gameplay...

Yes graphically this part isn't all that good looking, but when you compare it to every other game we have seen... it is still one of the best looking, with only C3 beating it ( once you have a very high computer) but the art style of KZ:SF is more appealing to me either way.

KZ SF is breaking the typical linear balls to the wall non stop action to give us a new way of playing this game (this game as in KILLZONE) and if you look at current gen, hardly ANY FPS games offer this level of openness and freedom.

Obviously the game will have its fair share of non stop linear areas but to see there will be this more open areas is very good news, variety of how you play.

Also, the gameplay shown here always looks boring for any game shown, the REAL fun comes from you playing this part were YOU can decide how to tackle the mission, so really it's not the game or the mission you find boring, what you actually find boring is the decisions the guy playing made ( well not entirely, but more or less)

The OWL, so good.

Hopefully the multiplayer will be interesting, but this feels less and less like a Killzone 4 everytime I see it.

I feel the same way, I've got almost no hype for it. It's true they haven't shown much, but it doesn't help that the first stuff they show looks like it could be some future shooter of any other name.

Those vids don't really make justice to the game, both in the gameplay and graphics compartment.

Anyway, I'm ready to enjoy the usual negative comments about Killzone that people share in almost every thread about this game get.

I thought it was simply firing from the OWL and sticking to whatever? I'm not sure I'm on the same page.

Also, the game looks like an FPS. Do you not like FPS? Which one looks exciting to you?

Titanfall, easily.

Killzone wins the graphical battle, but I don't really care, Titanfall just seems a lot more fun.

Gunplay looks worse in this than in Killzone 2 which sucks.

Relative to Shadow Fall, no, that GIF does not look like shit. That phrase simply does not apply here.

Sure it does.

The rope thing makes no sense?

What is it attaching to? Why is it flying out of nowhere.

Game looks pretty boring also...

it is attaching to objects/elements in the level. it is flying out of the robotic owl that you use. it floats at one end holding it up. the other end which it shot out and attached to a pole or a tree or a building holds it up, and you tether over. i thought that was kinda obvious.

My hype has gone down a bit.

The initial reaction I had to the new environment and larger scale was awesome, but the more I watch the more I realize that this is basically KZ3 + Owl and open environments.

That equates to a fun rental I suppose, but not much more.

To be fair I need to see more though, MP included.

Looks really killer, but the enemies were super dumb and the player let the OWL do a lot of the heavy lifting in fights. Still, this is my launch title. :)

The end that isn't the OWL doesn't have anything that is modeled that attaches to something.

It's just a rope texture flying off into the distance, looks really bad.

It should have a hook on the other end.

Sure it does.

Looks ... like shit?

Less impressive, sure. But ... like shit, compared to Shadow Fall?

A vast, vast exaggeration. The particle effects are the prime differentiator, otherwise I can't see the leap. I can see a jump, just not a leap. But that's just me.

What I noticed is that the HUD in the February reveal demo is moving, while the HUD in the E3 demo is static. How come? And what will be final?

Sure it does.

I honestly question if guys like him are serious. It's such a stark contrast that its stupefying to read the Stevie Wonder's who can't see the difference.

Preorder cancelled.

Seems pretty meh. You could basically call this game anything and it would make no difference.

- Has wall hacks mode like every other fucking fps these days.

- Janky stab animations.

- Weird AI behavior.

- Pop in.

- Frame rate drops.

- Average looking gameplay.

KZ2 at least had atmosphere. Why do they insist on showing the same boring ass map?

-a companion that shoots enemies and gives quick access to different places
-bullet time
-a convertable rifle
-a projected shield
-a wallhack

All in one soldier.

Thats some next gen easy mode. lol

What were you expecting? People want sequels to franchises but then want those experiences to be revolutionary instead of evolutionary. It's counterproductive.

On higher difficulties, you'll be needing all that shit. Killzone's AI is ruthless on anything higher than normal.

Well, it seems I'm in the minority with my KZ2 AI comment.

For those asking, yeah, I played the game (check the trophy link). I wish I had video capture equipment so that I could demo what I mean: I don't want to be the "posts youtube video of other people showcasing AI failings to prove a point" guy.

I like the melee kill animations but it always bothered me that the weapon just disappears. The rope just vanishing looks weird as well.

The AI here is idiotic.

Why is the second guy just standing there while his buddy is getting shot?

Even assuming the footage is on easy, I don't remember enemies standing still on easy difficulty in Killzone 2.

I get the impression that the AI just has more problems path finding around the more open environments, with less objects as designated cover points and more natural, open combat arenas.

It probably won't be an issue at release.

Seems like he was running into position.

Again, if you want to pick out moments were the AI is bad, you can do that with pretty much EVERY SINGLE game that ever had AI.

Even TLOU, which to me has one of the best AI, has had its very stupid moments that are a lot more worse than that video.

No I don't mean the friendly AI like Joel or Tess, but actual enemy AI.

No doubt the AI in KZ:SF does look to have been downgraded compared to KZ2, wonder how the higher difficulties will change and finale release.

Graphically, I find this contextually unimpressive. Regarding gameplay, I'm even less impressed. These are the guys who gave us this:

'last' gen. Shadow Fall doesn't look much better than the competition, frankly. The animations are re-used from Killzone 3, there's a strange blurring evident in even 1080p direct feed footage, where other games (like MGSV) look crisp ... I'm disappointed with this.

Hopefully the multiplayer will be interesting, but this feels less and less like a Killzone 4 everytime I see it.

Judging a game's final graphical quality from a YouTube video is ridiculously stupid.

You're not alone. I didnt find the AI particularly engaging myself.

Lots of waiting for them to pop out their stupid higg domes so I could unload into them.

The animation may have gone a long way into making them look smarter some how?

Judging a game's final graphical quality from a YouTube video is ridiculously stupid.

I judge it with regards to others games, and their respective YouTube videos. Why would that be stupid? Why would a YouTube video of MGSV, or Battlefield 4 be less disadvantaged by being on YouTube than Killzone footage?

And I don't remember saying "This is how it will be on release day", so I don't know how you could have read that.

The drone seems to make the whole gameplay experience feel cheap and unrewarding.
I don't want press one button and watch a robot shoot some hapless soldiers in the face at 10000 rounds per minute.
A soldier, by the way, who I can see through the wall from the safety of my cover. It takes away all sense of danger and the thrill of overcoming it.

Don't play it on easy? I'm not being hyperbolic, I've played MANY FPS games, and I've honestly never seen better. Maybe you got some weird fluke?
I don't play games on easy. Well, except Viewtiful Joe :P

Listen, let's get back on track. The AI in this demo looks simple and not aggressive. It's likely that's the case since the game is very early. I am looking forward to it since it is visually stunning and I like the art style. I will hope that the AI is up to snuff when the game releases and I trust that GG will bring their A game to the console.

People still doubting this game graphically...

I remember everyone being so skeptical of KZ2 before release and that thing came out and blew everything else away at the time, with the exception of something like Crysis. Then Killzone 3 came out and again was a graphical powerhouse on PS3.

I'm not even worried in the slightest.

One could be higher resolution with higher res textures, more particles and better AA, but you would not be able to tell the difference if both videos are using shitty encoding.

Honestly your opinion loses alot of credibility when you use hyperbole. Saying that gif looks like anything remotely close to something like the gif shinobi posted is just BS. Your allowed to not like the graphics but still.
