SCEE exec teases "an amazing big title coming to Vita" [Not an indie title]

Man I would LOOOOVE it to be a RDR game of some kind. One of the top 5 games this gen easily and to be able to play it on the go on such a gorgeous screen?? Priceless. Of course I want a proper PS4 RDR too. :)

There are a shit-ton of PSN titles and indies already dealing with that. I want a console game!

Agreed. Vita has pick-up-and-play covered like a boss right now. The system needs a really meaty, substantial experience designed for the system instead of ported to it years after its original release.

If a dev comes up with a meaty full-budgeted game, then they'll rather make it a console game.
Actually, Nomura from SE stated that (capability wise) Vita is "too close" to PS3, at Famitsu interview or something.

I don't remember him saying that. He did say that they are considering VITA and Tablets to utilize some unique features for FF XV. Kind of like a Second Screen, i think.

It was like two years ago I guess.

Edit: It was Game Informer Article from a year ago, my bad..

The PS Vita is definitely a powerful device that is very interesting, but because of it’s high power, there isn’t much of a difference with a console.

I'm saying I want a game designed for VITA. Not something that would work just as well on a home console.

I just can't get as engrossed in games that are designed to have the 'portable feel'. Short levels, less detailed storytelling, etc.

If we're talking a Vita game with the scale and scope of Birth By Sleep, sure. But I've had enough of games that are basically just a menu full of 15-minute missions with no context. The Vita's got more than enough of those already.

And i bet most people play their Vita at home/not on the move the most.

We should all set our expectations way, way lower. RDR? Demons Souls 2? Monster Hunter? There's just no way that makes sense to anyone.

So, how many people are wishing for a Dark Souls or Monster Hunter?
I hope for demon's souls 2, but any big and good exclusive (not monster hunting)game designed for vita is welcome, especially open world games(saints row) or rpgs(fallout)
For me monster hunter can stay forever where it is now.

A game designed for vita does not exclude meaty console-like games :P
The distinction between portable and home games is just pure bullshit when you have all the power and controls you need for a "home console" game.

Yeah i hate those, peace walker was the worst offender imo.

Absolutely. As beautiful and well-designed of a piece of hardware as the Vita is, it's not exactly portable unless you carry around a purse all the time. It's not designed to be carried in the pocket. Especially during summertime.

As much as I like the Metal Gear Solid games, Peace Walker was really just Metal Gear Monster Hunter. The fact Monster Hunter bosses were in the game just made it that much more obvious.

They could've done so much more with Peace Walker if they weren't locked down to the mission-based structure in order to enable co-op.

Do you wear skinny jeans or something? Im only asking because my vita fits in my pocket just fine, everyone has their own experiences though.

I recommend everyone jusf forget about this until something (if anything) is announced. Before anyone starts flipping out, hes never said anything about Gamescome, so maybe it could be there, maybe it wont. Rainbow Six was rumored for Vita awhile back so maybe thats it, who knows though.

Highly recommend people keep their expectations in check.

I work in a business casual office, so I mostly wear khakis. Problem is, my phone goes in one pocket and my wallet goes in the other. Even if I didn't have my phone in that pocket though, it'd be tough to fit in - the Vita's a big damn system, and I don't want a single scratch on that screen.

Agreed about keeping expectations in check though. Even with the other Sony exec corroborating his story, Shahid has been known to get over-excited about less than interesting things. Let's let Sony show their cards before we freak out.

This is obviously completely unrelated to this particular game, but I know a lot of people want this to happen

Which i'm guessing explains why Adam Boyes and Gio Corsi were in Boston recently.

It'd be cool to see a lower budget, top-down 2D Bioshock game almost like one of the old Fallouts. That idea is free btw.

Edit: i'm not the first person with this idea:

FUCK YEAH! I knew about Ken going to talk with Sony, but Shahid getting involved is great news! Thanks Shahid (and Ken)! Make this game happen!

Game would be a year and a half away, at least, if it were going to be not a port of Bioshock 1, or any good. Not gonna get my hopes up.

That seems to be my mantra lately.

I think the biggest problem with Bioshock Vita will be finding the appropriate developer. It seems very unlikely that Irrational will develop it in-house, so it's obviously going to have to be outsourced. It's going to have to be given to a well respected developer or else the hype will deflate. I really think the best option is Sony Bend, but they're busy with something at the moment (probably a new Uncharted Vita).

So uh, we're 43 pages in and the identity of the game is still unknown?

Not even an educated guess?

Also, please not a "pick and play" games. Vita has many of those already.

2K said they have tons of contents that got cut from Bioshock Infinite (enough to make 5 or 6 games) + 2K Marin is available

this is not really about the dev but really depend on how much Sony is willing to pay for it.

I guess publishers see a future for the Vita now.
The Vita became a healty environment for indies and it proved that you can make a profit on it. (#strategiccontent) COD, AssassinsCreed, RaymanOrigins and more hit decent sales numbers.
Also, and thats a very improtant point, it looks like Sony is tying the Vita to the Ps4. RemotePlay and Gaikai will basically secure a very long lifecycle for the Vita and then there is PS+. Many people will get it because they need to play online on PS4, so they get all those free Vita games and purchasing a Vita gets more and more temping each month.

I think that gives them publishers some kind of security, they know now that its a plattform that has a future. I guess we will see a bump in 3rd party support in 2014.

What about Armarture. Ex-Metroid Prime devs with Vita experience. Could be a good fit.

Then where are COD and Assasins Creed? They have not even announced at E3 and announcing it at Gamescom would be a little too late if people buy the console versions instead

Both games require a lot of developers because there are so many versions this year.
Wasn't there a leak for a completly different Assasins Creed ?
Rising Phoenix was it, so maybe there will be a completly different game for the Vita.
Gamescom and TGS will be surely important as an indicator, if there is still hope for the plattform.

Gamescom would make sense if it's going to be a follow up to AC3:L by Ubisoft Sofia. They haven't announced anything since it was released, and Ubisoft has said they were quite happy with how it sold for them on the system.

CoD seems unlikely, since Activision wasn't even willing to put an internal team on the first game. That is a perfect example of where Sony could have stepped in and taken on development to the benefit of all parties involved, but not with Nihilistic making the game. Instead it should have been agreed upon well before launch and that is what Zipper should have made for the Vita. A SOCOM style shooter with CoD branding to bring in the casuals.

I'd settle for console ports if they're released at about the same time. Like if we get a Vita release of GTAV between the console and PC release that would be great. :P
