Mmmm... no. There are similar elements but their application results in a very different feeling game. Spelunky is like a traditional platformer stuffed into a Rogue structure, while Cargo is a Rogue with platforming. The end result is that Cargo Commander is easily suited to short gaming sessions since the permadeath works in conjunction with the item collection/leveling, whereas Spelunky works better in longer sessions since there's a very specific goal+boss (yeah, there's all the crazy bonus stuff in Spelunky but that's more post-game).

The game proper was released a few years ago. And then a Steam version got squeezed out. Also, the name is kind of weird.

Shatter has an awesome soundtrack. I used to listen to it at work and it's got me past a few rough deadlines.

The game is a lot of fun too, probably in my top 5 list for PSN titles. It's even more fun if you have a bunch of friends on your leaderboards as you will go insane trying to squeeze out more points.

I actually enjoyed the controls and the cheesy/shitty dialog.

My problem with the game is that it requires a LOT of grinding to make progress in the game and there weren't enough unique missions to keep me interested.
A real shame since there are a BILLION cool upgrades to choose from in that game, it just took too long.

Difficulty done right: each game lasts under a minute. It's really cool to see yourself constantly get better at such a hard game. Extremely clean retro graphics, fast techno music, and a very cheap price point all make this game a winner.

Flashy colors and a three-minute-long score attack mode make this a great arcade game. It has a survival mode as well. Like most twin-stick shooters, it's difficult. Still fun, though.

Windosill is a digital pop-up book. Allegedly great for children, but as a fan of both whimsy and point-and-click adventure games, I liked it. It is extremely short (about an hour long) and probably not for everyone. The good thing is that the first half of the game is available as a free demo on the official site. The bad thing is that it hasn't been on sale since the 2012 Summer Sale.

All right guys, there are very few games that get carte blance recommendation from me, but this title by the creators of Shank is pretty close. 91% Metacritic; support for alternate playstyles; awesome achievements; controller support. It's probably one of the best Indie games I've ever played. If you like Ninjas, get this game; if you like stealth games, get this game. If you like amazing atmosphere / writing / even voice acting, get this game. BUT WAIT FOR THE DAILY / FLASH SALE! Even if it doesn't drop, consider getting this game. It's that good.

Yeah, avoid Dark Void Zero. It's got that 5 activation limit, and the activations cannot be recovered once they're used.

I would recommend them, at least for $0.50. They're simply adventure games with kind of a stupid/silly sense of humor, but they're definitely entertaining enough to be worth that and worth playing if you're interested. None of the puzzles were stupidly difficult like some other adventure games, either, if I recall correctly.

Fair enough. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Metal Gear series, though I haven't played anything since the PS2.

I guess it comes down to setting? I'm a big ninja fan, so for me I never really looked at the game apart from its setting. If you're not into that, then it may not be for you (which is why I refrained from saying, "If you like games, get this!").

Maybe I should go back and say, "If you like ninja games, or if the thought of a new Tenchu game makes you happy - then get this game!"

Indie games are about all my computer can handle these days. I'm gonna pick up a $20 steam card later today...still trying to figure out what to spend it on though.

Currently targeting:
- Hotline Miami ($2.50)
- They Bleed Pixels ($2.50)
- La Mulana ($7.50)
- Super House of Dead Ninjas ($2.37)

I like action and platformers...stuff along the lines of Mega Man and Metal Slug. Any suggestions? Or comments about the above games?

Super House of Dead Ninja is absolutely amazing and unadulterated crack. You don't need to take my word for it, though, because there's a free version here:

You'll have to use XPadder for the free version as it's Flash, but otherwise it has a lot (like, over 60%) of the content of the full version. Fall in love with it, then buy it.
La-Mulana is pretty good too, but I don't know if I'd get it for 7.50. I guess I'm biased because I got it for dirt cheap in a Groupees Make-a-Bundle.
They Bleed Pixels is quite nice too from what I've played.

I actually waited until FTL was 5$ before purchasing it. After doing so, I felt so bad I paid so little for the game, I bought it again (on Steam, the first time was on GOG, which I discovered I don't like), then gifted it to no less than six different people. I'm not rich, those are meaningful purchases for me, and I've never done anything like that in over 30 years of gaming.

It's that good.

It's my favorite indie game of all time, in fact.

That's a really good question. As someone who loved Noitu Love 2 (although I have to play more of it), but didn't get the appeal of Hotline Miami, and thought Fez is quite overrated from the demo at least, I have to agree with you. I guess smaller marketing budget? Not being written by a self-important asshole? Your guess is as good as mine.

Yeah Noitu Love 2 is a truly fantastic game, Konjack the creator does commission work with Wayforward as a sprite artist, which shows especially the level 1 boss.
It's one of those games that's screaming out to be on a Nintendo system.

Great gunplay and how you treat the guns is realistic. It was part of a seven day FPS game jam challenge last year and the developers added some content to it and, through Greenlight, got it on Steam.

Speaking of that game jam, does anyone know where to find the other games that were made during it? The official site has been replaced with this year's upcoming event so I don't think they are hosting them on there anymore.
