Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

I'm more a Sylux guy instead of choosing a Metroid character to serve as a moveset swap replacement if Snake doesn't reappear.

Adam could work as a separate character too. He just has that option.

Besides no matter what our opinion about M:OM is (personally, I liked it) Sakurai is obviously taking it into consideration for this Smash (starting with Samus' outfit), so I'd actually be more surprised to see Ridley playable than Adam.

I wouldn't be surprised to actually see four Fire Emblem characters this time around given not only Awakening's success and popularity, but also because I think it is one of the few Nintendo series left with such a large well of possible characters.

I predict that Marth and Ike are definitely returning from Brawl, and that at least one Fire Emblem Awakening character will be playable in the chance that Sakurai decides to appease Roy's Melee fanbase.

I wouldn't be surprised if Priam showed up instead.

I really want the Avatar as an Awakening representative...

I still don't understand the vocal Waluigi fanbase that believes he is the next Mario character for Smash, it's a side character seen largely as a joke, who has only appeared in Mario spinoffs to boost roster count most of the time. Simply put I feel like Toad is the last iconic or well known mainline Mario character not put into the game. (aside from putting in generic Goombas and Koopas)

Well, Toad's absence up to now seemed to suggest that Sakurai just didn't see him as unique or valuable enough. Also, Waluigi, if he were included, probably would be there exactly as a representative of the Mario Spin offs. Just look at his tennis racket for his appearance as an Assist Trophy in Brawl.

However, considering Sakurai's change of view regarding the Animal Crossing character, maybe Toad could make it in too? Still, at least the Animal Crossing character, and even Miis, have been mentioned, Toad has just been utterly ignored.

I will say that I think Waluigi's presence as an assist trophy definitely helps point toward a possible appearance.

Dark Samus is also an option for another Metroid rep, as long as they don't give into the temptation to make a clone.

DS could have an attack where she fires streams of Phazon, and any shots that miss remain as stage hazards. She could also transform into Metroid Prime as a final smash.

Honestly guys, if Ridley isn't in. I will spend $50 on gummi worms, and sit in a corner, eat them and cry.

I can't really think of any other character besides Mega Man who got such a vocal outcry to be in Brawl. He knows loud and clear that we want Ridley, it's up to him to decide whether or not to put him in at this point.

Waluigi would be the most pointless fighter ever. He's hardly in any significant games to be even worth it.

Do you guys want Ridley as a fighter or villain again?

Waluigi would not be worthless. His moves can be a mix of Mario Party games and Sports titles.

Ridley needs to be a fighter.

Fighter! It's about damn time! He's the only character in Metroid, one of the big Nintendo franchises that appears in many games. And he's size isn't a problem at all.

I don't necessarily agree with the idea that "bigger series need more characters." Animal Crossing and Wii Fit have both sold more than Metroid, but they're perfectly represented with one character each. Samus and Zero Suit Samus are all Metroid needs to feel complete -- the series is more about isolation and exploration than a diverse cast of supporting characters. Would I be surprised to see Ridley playable? Not really (I think I put him on my roster prediction), but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see him left out again. He's not as necessary as some people seem to think.

Well, size is a reasonable issue.

I mean, you can't shrink him down to Bowser-ish size since he'll look stupid next to other fighters and his giant size may mean he'll graphically clip too much, be a walking target, etc.

I'm not sure, but I think it's a bit of a large request. It'd be nice though.

I think that most of the main franchises have gotten more than enough representation. I like Mario, but all the must-haves are there already. Yoshi, Wario, and Donkey Kong originate from Mario's titles as well.

Inevitably there's going to have to be characters from the big series. That's the selling point. But a lot of the personality of crossover fighters comes from characters who aren't so strongly known: Captain Falcon became a meme because of Smash, not F-Zero. I think there's a lot of opportunity to have that now.

Hugo has no problem in Capcom fighters.

---------------

I honestly see Ridley remaining as a boss.

Pikmin 3 spoilers:

Olimar's SSB4 design seems to be partly inspired by Pikmin 3. He has the exact same whistle and red and blue buttons on his uniform.

Pikachu and Olimar are the same size, even though canonically that should be impossible.

Size isn't an issue.

Isn't that actually a good sign? It means that Nintendo was wishing to contact Square, for something much less important than making him a playable character in Smash, and also that Square was ok about Nintendo using him. That's extremely positive and basically shows that the copyright concerns are nonexistents.

This is why I'm really hoping the Alph, Brittney, and Charlie are alternate costumes. Just take their Pikmin 3 models and slap them on to the game. That's how game design works, right? :)

Geno is owned by Square-Enix. That is the main reason he will never be in Smash.
How so, exactly? The third party aspect hasn't been a problem in the past.

The real problem is that Geno's only relevant game is Super Mario RPG, which is popular but only amongst a niche. He has about as much of a chance as the partners in Paper Mario, except the later are more likely because more people have played Paper Mario than Super Mario RPG.

How would making a bundle make them more money?

People are going to buy the game anyway, and if they're going to buy the game, they're going to buy the system it's for, right?

Getting a larger install base.

There's a reason bundles are here, people feel like they're getting a much better deal when a game is packed in.

I personally don't see how they couldn't make a Ridley that's like slightly bigger than Bowser. It'd work fine, especially since Other M established that Ridley was a little thing at one time.
