The entire case is about race from beginning to end. Trayvon was targeted because of his racial presentation. Whether Zimmerman is "really" white (probably not, based on self-identification and family history) is much less important than how racial perceptions (and a government-supported obsession with vigilante justice) led him to shoot an unarmed teenager to death.

There was a black women recently that was prosecuted on charges of vehicular homicide recently.

She was crossing the street with her child after getting off a bus.

She and her child got hit by a driver and the kid was killed.

And SHE got prosecuted for vehicular homicide. Again, while WALKING and her child was killed by someone else, and she was hauled off to jail for crossing the road at her bus stop.

Oh, and the driver admitted to having had drinks. And was on pain medication. And fled.

Not guilty was the only reasonable verdict. Witness testimony was spotty at best. So the only people who really know what happened are Zimmerman and the kid he killed. That's enough for reasonable doubt, therefore you can't convict.

After the Casey Anthony trial this should have been expected.

If there's no real evidence proving that the accused did something then a jury isn't going to rule against them. There was no hard evidence proving Zimmerman didn't act in self-defence, thus he walks. Just like Anthony did.

I don't really understand why they shot for a murder charge. Just not enough evidence.

At least with manslaughter, they could have taken the "but not for Zimmerman's initiating a confrontation, Trayvon would still be alive" approach.

Civil suit will clean him out, though. $$$$$
