Verdict reached in George Zimmerman case - Not Guilty

Any teens.
If a security guard tries to question or detain you, you don't get into a fist fight with them. That's just stupid and escalates the situation. Note, I don't think Zimmerman has any business carrying a loaded weapon (imo a tazer is probably all he should be legally able to carry as a community patrol, that is if America's gun laws weren't so retarded).

There is a little problem with your analysis; usually, security guards detain people in connection to very specific, very obvious situations (like, I don't know, a mall, a public function, something where people can actually know that this person has authority over this location). Here, you have a kid walking through a neighborhood, get's stalked by a stranger, tries to run away, and continues to get pursued by the same goddamn stranger. These aren't even disputed facts!

But no, Mr. Security Guard Z has such apparent authority over the neighborhood. Too bad he seemingly didn't let the kid know that.

This is how i feel right now. Us black youth are seen as worthless in this country. Its disgusting :(

It's sickening to believe in 2013 we still have bronze-age ideas that skin tone determines the character of a person, and their worth. We would be a better world when we get rid of the aesthetic stupidity and realize everyone has the same worth, no more, no less.

But enough of my fantasy ideals...

We get it, you're white. Go defend yourself from those minorities armed with skittles.

Why do you think I'm white?

And yeah, I wasn't following this case too closely. He wasn't a security guard but a neighborhood watch coordinator. Not really the same thing.

1. Prosecution had no eye witnesses, Defense did. This was huge

2. Prosecution witnesses were very weak and sometimes weird, defense only had to do an ok job

3. This case was not about if Zimmerman profiled him, stalked him or harassed him which he did , it was if prosecution could convince the jury that zimmerman did not kill him in self defense. Defense put enough doubt in jury's mind and defense won.

This does not go on the jury. The prosecution is to blame for this verdict. Their key witnesses fell apart on the stand and they made horrible arguments.

I am not surprised at the not guilty on the murder charge - however, I am REAL surprised the jury didn't find on a lesser charge. Perhaps the state should have fucking realized a 2nd degree murder case was weak, and gone for manslaughter from the get-go.

Man, the responses in this thread compared to the one on Reddit's front page are so different. Over there, everyone's either going "Good, justice was served!" or "who cares im tired of hearing about this case."

I...uhhh...what?

You cant be serious.

Don West is a piece of shit. The case was a disgrace? And yet he makes no mention at all that it was unfortunate that a young kid had to lose his life? Then has a laugh about his ice cream photo? Fucking cunt......

The disgrace is that it took over 30 days for the state to file charges and his client was given ample time to craft his story.

Read your own link, and my other links:

The state of Georgia prosecuted a pedestrian that was hit by a drunk, high and partially blind hit and run driver with vehicular homicide.

Unfortunately pedestrians don't have the right of way according to various law books.

Second degree homicide by vehicle
This is a misdemeanor, that upon conviction will result in a sentence of up to 1 year (which may be suspended) or a fine of up to US$1,000 (or both). Second degree homicide by vehicle encompasses all other homicides by vehicle, involving any other violation of the laws governing motor vehicles, that are not classed as first degree homicides.

there was plenty of evidence that he should have been found guilty of *manslaughter*, but not *murder*. and by that, i mean self-defense wasn't proven.

*he was told to stay in his car and not pursue
*he defied that and did so anyway
*that should have nullified his ability to use self-defense
*ie: he followed trayvon with the intent of confronting him
*with a loaded gun
*after being told by authorities to not do that

so when we say that the law is the problem, it really is. because he CLEARLY should be convicted of manslaughter, but not murder. the evidence shows that he was determined to confront trayvon, but it's not proven if he intended on killing him. if the law leaves such a huge gaping hole in such obvious logic, then yes, it IS the fucking problem.

Simple solution. They should make this a lawful order.

Thanks for keeping us up to date with reddit.

Shh..don't let anyone in that he's Hispanic, that will ruin their whole "white on black" angle. And you know we just gotta have white on black angle to make it all juicy and get people riled up.

He's half-white, half-hispanic. At least one person has gone on record stating that both sides of his family are openly racist. Zimmerman himself made a racial remark when on the phone with the police about how "they always get away with it" (black people).

Second, many hispanic cultures have deep-rooted racism against blacks, West Indians, and also hate their own darker-skinned hispanic countrymen. I've known a number of people who fully came from Latin American countries, but embraced American whiteness when they came here, particularly the light-skinned ones. People who openly dislike "niggers" and have no knowledge, care or empathy for the plights of oppressed minorities. Hispanics can and have been as equally racist against blacks as any Neo-Nazi or Klan member. This whole "DERP hes hispanic, not racist!" defense is utter bullshit.

I don't really understand why they shot for a murder charge. Just not enough evidence.

At least with manslaughter, they could have taken the "but not for Zimmerman's initiating a confrontation, Trayvon would still be alive" approach.

Civil suit will clean him out, though. $$$$$

Incompetent prosecution primarily motivated by state interests wanting the highest possible charge to equal the media sensationalism?

He was a security guard, wasn't he? Maybe the moral of the story is you shouldn't fuck with authority. Assuming Zimmerman tried to apprehend Martin, had Martin simply done as he was told he could have potentially filed a wrongful arrest / kidnapping lawsuit against Zimmerman when the dust had settled. As it stands, he fought with the community's authority figure and got himself killed.
He was fired as a security guard because he threw a drunk woman in which she got injured. He's a neighborhood watch captain, which means jack shit when it comes to authority figures.

Dude it's not minorities vs. whites. Different races have different standings in the US and among each other.

Let me guess, you're one of those people who thinks Marco Rubio will get Mexicans to vote Republican because he's brown? Latinos know the difference between a Cuban and a Mexican, and the socio-political context that makes those two groups wildly different from each other.

That's to say nothing of Hispanics and blacks being painted with the same brush. Coloreds vs. whitey isn't how this country works.

I think you're being irrational and overemotional and you misinterpreted my post. Also you made a random assumption of me because you needed a punching bad for whatever emotions you're feeling right now. So I won't dignify you with a serious response.
