Verdict reached in George Zimmerman case - Not Guilty

I think that GZ is not entirely innocent but the prosecution did not build a good enough case. I thought the verdict made sense.

It did.

I think it was the right verdict according to the law/evidence but the punishment is wrong.

If the jurors get a lot of hate, it's too bad because there was a lot of reasonable doubt.

In fact, sometimes I thought the prosecution had the defense standard for showing reasonable doubt.

They might have had a chance if that was reality.

I was jumped by 2 Mexicans and 3 Blacks going to my apartment after drinking at the bar down the street. I lost a tooth and had a fractured eye socket, I thought I was gonna die while they were stomping me. If I had had a gun, I would have shot indiscriminately. They came after me to rob my friend and I of our beer. No provocation and I was sucker punched from a man running full speed at me in the dark that I couldn't see.

Do some of you think I should have gone to jail had I shot and killed any of them had I had a weapon?

Quit while you're ahead.

Its a wonderful day to see that Hispanics are now finally part of the Caucasian community.

Outcome isn't too much of a surprise, the prosecution team really couldn't prove anything. It may be worth it to evaluate some of our self defense laws in Florida though, since it can be really hard to prove a person guilty under them in cases like these.

Whats more interesting is it seems the prosecution team hid a bunch of evidence from the defense. If true, this case could very well be the end of the carriers, since doing so has the penalty of disbarment.

Pretty much this.

And yes how this turned into a Black vs. White thing when GZ is hispanic is beyond me. I remember him being called a white hispanic in the initial reports.

A major part of the reason this case was such a mess.

Are you serious? He was bruised at multiple places on his skull. Every had someone smack the back of your head hard?

If he didn't have to go to the hospital it wasn't that serious... I mean you'd think he would have had to check for a concussion or something but apparently he was fine with a few bandages. Life-threatening injuries?
The guy is clearly a cop-wannabe... I bet he was turned down from the force due to mental / personality problems that came up during the interview process.

No. All evidence points to his injuries being incredibly minor.

Stop posting.

Doesn't matter what his injuries are. The law says what he reasonably believed at the time of the beat down. Reasonably is incredibly vague but that is how the the law is written.

Which worked out in his favor, to the layman seeing a bunch of blood like that clearly means a person was seriously harmed.

You're the layman. The people who aren't laymen are the jurors who heard the full evidence including the testimony and cross-examination of the experts called to the trial because of their relevant expertise. How many days of testimony did you sit through again?

The prosecution was as incompetent as I have seen in a very very long time and every day when I would watch coverage it seriously blew my mind how this was going to end up as something referenced in legal classes for many years to come.
Rick Scott's Florida really is a joke.
Sadly , with the job that the prosecution did there was no other outcome to expect, and anyone that expected different obviously did not follow the case much less watch the coverage.

It's not about GZ's race, it's about Trayvons and what black people minding their own fucking business can reasonably expect from other people. Apparently not much.

Have you ever been in a fight? When you are fighting on a street, it's much different than a boxing ring or structured fight where you know you are walking away. Shit is much much different in a street fight.

Yes, I've been in a fight.

And you're right, shit is different in a street fight. Trayvon Martin, unfortunately, should have been more afraid of the bigger, older man following him, unannounced, in the dead of night. Because that bigger, older man looking for confrontation also had a gun.

Doesn't matter what his injuries are. The law says what he reasonably believed at the time of the beat down. Reasonably is incredibly vague but that is how the the law is written.

And that law is fucked.

As someone said earlier: this isn't about white vs black, it's about being black

how can they rob your beer if you were in the bar first?? Also if it was in the dark and you couldn't, how you tell what race they were then??
I think you should go to psychiatrist first then to a looney bin.

There were street lights. They were in the dark. All I saw a blur to my left. When they left, my neighbor who called the cops told me exactly what he saw. And judging by there voices they had that vocal inflection. Also, you know there are other places other than bars that sell beer right? O, and fuck you for saying I need psychiatry when you know nothing.

Yo GZ's brother. Holy shit.... That interview went from normal to batshit insane really quickly.

So basically this sets the precedent, at least in Florida, that it's alright to drive around late at night armed as a sort of vigilante confronting anyone you profile to be suspicious. Then the second that your random confrontation of an unsuspecting person causes them to become angry/upset to the point of getting physical you have the right to shoot and kill that person. Alright then...

A Hispanic vs a black is essentially what this case is lol
I think Zimmerman was guilty but come the fuck on some of you are crazy with this black man thing

The guys who beat you up were all Zimmermans, YOU were Trayvon Martin and fought back after being pursued while minding your business, YOU ended up getting shot dead, and all 5 of them just walked free.

Trayvon outweighed Zimmerman by 30 lbs and was taller.

The racial angle got people interested, but this was really about gun control. I mean, in the long run the case will be remembered as an example of how 'responsible self-defense' is possible for those carrying guns in public.

Yeah. It was such a shit situation perpetuated by GZ's stupid(and wrong) moral compass. Had the dumb-ass gone home it'd be way different.
