I've heard several people say IMAX definitely makes this movie better, and I'd like to see it on one too, but...do they still show 2d IMAX? I honestly haven't been to one in about a decade. I can't see 3d movies properly, and all of the IMAX screens anywhere close to me specify they're in 3d.

Pleeaase, Godzilla would stomp. No Jaeger is ready for Godzilla. Not one conventional weapon on earth can do jackshit to him. Showa Godzilla would destroy, Heisei would destroy, Millennium would destroy. Matthew Broderick's Godzilla standing a chance? You must be trolling son. One Atomic Breath might be enough to end Gypsy Danger, and Godzilla would eat his nuclear radiation from the resulting meltdown like candy.

Also keep in mind the big G has dealt with Jaegers before essentially with Mecha Godizilla and hybrids like Gigan or Mecha Ghidora. Godzilla has a very powerful beam weapon, something the Kaiju in PR lacked, and is very used to taking beam weapon hits.
He's also fought along Jaegers (mechs) like Jet Jaguar and Moguera, so I actually see a Gypsy Godzilla team up being ultimately more likely.

Godzilla is at least CAT VI because of the breath alone.
It's possible, but I guarantee the 2D showings are limited. My theater had one 2D IMAX showing vs about six 3D IMAX showings.

Yeah, Jaegers seem to be at a disadvantage at range. I doubt Gipsy's plasma caster is very accurate from afar.

He would register very high on the Shirazawa scale, off the scales probably, because ambient radiation is one of the quantifiers and Godzilla is a walking nuclear reactor. But compared to some of the monsters in PR he is quite physically small, Slattern is fucking huge. However, Godzilla is ridiculously dense, the lightest one weighs like 20,000 tons, heaviest 60,000 tons compared to Slattern's 6,750 tons lol.

Godzilla is a trap. He's about as small as a Category 3 Kaiju and he's not toxic (Just extremely radioactive). At least one jaeger is gonna bite the dust just because it gets cocky and then Godzilla incinerates it.

I think the spines are mostly cosmetic, Godzilla can absorb radiation through his skin which in turn gives him energy. He eats radiation and metabolizes radiation.
That's how I'd do it.

Decent movie. A bit too long without action. And my god the acting was brutal. So cornball.
The action scenes were great and despite being a 2 hour + movie, I left wanting a lot more robot/fighting scenes. That's a shame really.
Charlie (Sunny) was great but really all his scenes were pointless and probably should have been left out before they even got to filming.
I wanted to like it a lot more, but the acting/casting/writing really held it back.

The plot, characters and overuse of comedic relief were fucking atrocious. Action was greatness.

Urban Dictionary says it's another name for the cane toad, which has wreaked havoc in Australia as a non-native, invasive species. Thus, the term could be applied to the kaijus as well. At somewhat of a stretch, you can see how they even resemble amphibians.
Or, it just sounds cool. Australian accents make everything sound cool.

It was all very spectacular but it's missing like a few defining moments that would put it a tier above. The only "highlight" scene I can remember is the sword part in the sky. Reminded me of Final Fantasy.
Otherwise it's just them punching each other a lot. The Chinese and Russian jaegars had like .5 sec of screen time. The elbow rocket and ship bat scenes would have been amazing except they were both spoiled in the trailers.

They go to Australia and Bart takes an American Bullfrog with him and released it into the wild causing it to go nuts and breed.
The toads are called Bullfrogs, one Australian replies "That's an odd name, I'd a called em chuzzwazzers".

Raiju could have looked like anything and I still wouldn't have been able to see what it was. Fastest kaiju + underwater = motion blur.
Watched the movie yesterday.
I think I hyped the movie way too much for myself.
The Kaiju fighting scenes were excellent,
and the special effects were awesome for those scenes.
Though a lot of the indoor scenes with people looked really green screenish,
Like the production value on those scenes looked made for TV...

This is what it is. They tried to come through but our atmosphere wasn't something they could deal with. After years of pollution the conditions were just right so they were able to come in after us. They spell this out pretty clearly in the movie.
Pretty sure this was covered already but the earlier waves were scouts. Each Kaiju is a clone but heavily modified. Once we started winning against the scouts they started sending in the big guns to fight our defenses.
Seriously though, that would've been pretty sick. Funny enough, Raiju, one of the cat IVs in that last scene swimming around looked kinda close if it were standing upright.
Is this the dude who's mouth opens and there's another head in it? And is there detailed art like this for all of the Kaiju? I love their designs but the only ones I could really see clearly were Knifehead, Leatherback and Or..Orachi?

Only things I didn't understand were the comment about GD being analog. How can something like that be analog? I don't understand.
I also didn't understand how the main character escaped since there is a DNA scanner in the rift. But then I figured it must just check one way.
Everything else was pretty fucking awesome. Yes, some of the dialog was cheesy, but this is expected in a movie that is basically a love letter to japanese monsters and mechs.
