Very enjoyable movie. I probably enjoyed it more than MoS, but, of course, my expectations were far lower for Pacific Rim.
And yup, this movie demands an IMAX screen. The 3D was pretty damn good, too. I might take the lady to see it this weekend if it's still on IMAX
At first but then the double team King Ghidorah.
Gipsy does an american soldier salute and Godzilla bows with respect and returns undersea
Gipsey would destroy Godzilla. Not even a contest unless it was Matthew Brodericks Godzilla then maybe it'd be a fight. Maaaybbeeee.

I've heard several people say IMAX definitely makes this movie better, and I'd like to see it on one too, but...do they still show 2d IMAX? I honestly haven't been to one in about a decade. I can't see 3d movies properly, and all of the IMAX screens anywhere close to me specify they're in 3d.
Godzilla is at least CAT VI because of the breath alone.
Godzilla is at least CAT VI because of the breath alone.
"Cat VI? Are you sure about this? Look how small he is!"
*laser breath takes out 5-10 Jaegers*
"OI CRIKEY!"
He would actually register very high on the Shirazawa scale, off the scales probably, because radiation is one of the quantifiers and Godzilla is a walking nuclear reactor. But compared to some of the monsters in PR he is quite physically small, Slattern is fucking huge.
I think this person has Godzilla and Gipsy confused.Gipsey would destroy Godzilla. Not even a contest unless it was Matthew Brodericks Godzilla then maybe it'd be a fight. Maaaybbeeee.
Can't remember but don't the giant scales on the back of Godzilla absorb energy which in turn power up his nuclear breath?
That's how I'd do it.At first but then the double team King Ghidorah.

Also keep in mind Godzilla is the king of Hulk Hogan style comebacks in fights.
Did Gypsy always have that sword up its sleeve or was it added in China?
So what was the real reason they only started sending in stronger Kaiju at the end? Was it that they couldn't send them earlier, or that they chose not to?
KOIJU? AH DA FUCKIN' CALLED 'EM SHAZWAZZAS
![]()
Was half expecting the Australians to break out with "FARKIN HELL YEWSE CUNTS SEE THE SOIZE OF EM SHAZZWAZZAS? FARK ME"
and
"Yew call that a knife?"

"This.. is a knife"
ok what's a SHAZWAZZAS

Urban Dictionary says it's another name for the cane toad, which as wreaked havoc in Australia as a non-native, invasive species. Thus, the term could be applied to the kaijus as well. At somewhat of a stretch, you can see how they even resemble amphibians.
Or, it just sounds cool. Australian accents make everything sound cool.
I don't know if it originated from The Simpsons, but that's where most know it from.
Anyone feel like the movie was missing *something*?
It was all very spectacular but it's missing like a few defining moments that would put it a tier above. The only "highlight" scene I can remember is the sword part in the sky. Reminded me of Final Fantasy.
Otherwise it's just them punching each other a lot. The Chinese and Russian jaegars had like .5 sec of screen time. The elbow rocket and ship bat scenes would have been amazing except they were both spoiled in the trailers.
I was so disappointed it wasn't a giant generic upright lizard with fire breath. When the Cat V showed up at the end, I was praying it was going to be Godzilla. What a great surprise that would have been.

Whoa, I guess I got my wish but didn't even recognize it!Seriously though, that would've been pretty sick. Funny enough, Raiju, one of the cat IVs in that last scene swimming around looked kinda close if it were standing upright.
Though a lot of the indoor scenes with people looked really green screenish,
Like the production value on those scenes looked made for TV...
Wait somebody earlier was saying that Dinosaurs were Kaiju. I thought that the Dinosaurs were killed by the Kaiju as part of some scouting wave thing.
The way I interpreted it, they attempted an incursion during pre-history and were unable to establish a foothold because the climate was incompatible with their physiology. They weren't the dinosaurs and they didn't kill the dinosaurs. They just poked their heads in briefly and left.
Pretty sure this was covered already but the earlier waves were scouts. Each Kaiju is a clone but heavily modified. Once we started winning against the scouts they started sending in the big guns to fight our defenses. So what was the real reason they only started sending in stronger Kaiju at the end? Was it that they couldn't send them earlier, or that they chose not to?

Can we talk about Ron Pearlman's outfit? My friends and I couldn't stop laughing the whole time. His character was fine, but my god the clothes. The gold plated shoes. I wouldn't be surprised if that was Pearlman's own set of clothes and he just showed up one day.
"Oh hey del Toro whatcha doing, making a movie? Mind if I step in?"

Good stuff. I had a stupid smile on my face numerous times throughout.
Only real bummer is that Idris Elba can't really be back for the sequel. At least, not in any large capacity.
the drift bro....
