Fighting Games Weekly | July 15-21 | Post-EVO Pillow Talk

I think you really underestimate how input intensive smash is :lol There are barely a few characters that match it in marvel. Viper being one of them
I know how input intensive Smash is. I'm just saying that if he wants that intensity in Marvel, he can have it. It's a silly thing to complain about. Marvel has everything from 1-button characters to character you need to be a finger artist to use properly. Execution requirements should never be a complaint for that game on either extreme.

...Really?
Truly.

VxG sponsors EMP
-_-

Do you know what honestly boosts my faith in a patch the most?

Assist Me Season 3.
*UMVC3 gets hype tournament and reception at EVO
*Ono tweets that he likes hearing about Marvel tuning
*Capcom puts UMVC3 in their Capcom Cup
*Assist Me Season 3
*UMVC3 goes on sale after EVO (note this game does not get frequent sales at all for some reason)

IT'S HAPPENING FOLKS!!!

This is true.

Also guys give me 3 characters to learn in SF4 that fit how I play stuff.

Oh yeah, that one too. It's a good thing we're working on this stuff so we can teach Capcom how to do it right. ;-D

I've only played you in Marvel, and it seems like you either like brainless rushdown or spammy keepaway. So I would go with Fei Long or Akuma (because I know you like mix-ups).

How is he a "development" team. Theres nothing to develop from Flocker for instance

hes a sponsor. he just gets money from outside sources instead of his own

I forgot to add that VxG is the tittle sponsor they have others.

You playing on ps3 or 360?

360

It'd be one thing if I at least had the one with the the nice d-pad but that's also stuck at home for a few weeks =(

super-jump airdashing is so annoying to pull off. can't play Dante for shit

I don't think I'd ever say this, but I think EMP would better serve Chris than an actual sponsor. ChrisG seems to need a local support group and friends to buffer him from negativity more than he needs flights and headphones.

What's wrong with Seth, then?

I know you also play Shadow Labrys, but obviously there's nothing like her in Street Fighter.

Honestly I just want Poison to be in already, she's exactly the style I like the most. T-T

Well... if you can learn dante on a 360 pad you can play anything I'll say that much :lol
Make sure you are dashing with a shoulder button

Where do you live? Depending on where, there's likely a regional Facebook group you could join and meet up with some people. Smash players (and the community as a whole) are very welcoming and such.

Northwestern Pennsylvania. I know there's a scene in Pittsburgh, but that's about 2 hours from where I live. There's also the fact that I'm probably a lot younger than most players, but if I were to make it out to a tournament or something I don't think it'd matter that much. Looks like there's gonna be some tournaments that are relatively near (by that I mean ~5 hours or so) and it'd be awesome to go. If I can't make them, then I'll definitely be watching streams.

I bet she is.

How would EMP make ChrisG look better?

Big dumb normals, has a projectile, lock down set ups on knockdown, knockdowns all day, plays dependent on reaction/baiting.
Damn, that does sound good.

Maybe you should stop playing faceroll characters and find out how intense Marvel can be.

Okay, so why on earth would Flocker become EMP?

If EMP is not a sponsor, why was it paying for its members' trips to Evo?

Either VXG or a 3rd party sponsor did, I don't know the details specifically.

Maybe one of these guys.

Seeing how the Melee community carried themselves over the weekend was the most impressing thing about my EVO 2013 experience. I believe these guys are truly the most hardworking people when it comes to fighting games. I mean, I would see the dudes going at it before the doors opened, going at it with casuals while pools were running, when the finals were going and even late Sunday when everyone left the main event room.

The hype, man... They were going insane at pools, at the semis, and the top 8 finals were amazing. I can't think of any other game more deserving to come back to EVO 2014 than a (by next year) 13-year old game.

I had a lot of awesome experiences over the weekend, but I will say that I really want to play Smash way over Marvel due to the dedication they showed. Good shit, guys.

These are the kind of comments that make me and a lot of people in the Smash community smile. :)

EVO got me into a bit of a playing spree for different fighting games. Switching around got me thinking about the advantages of diversifying and trying different titles.

If there was a fighting game university, what do you think is the one thing games could teach students learning the craft (I'm not talking about experts)?

For example.

P4A: It cops a lot of flak for being simple, but whilst playing this, I think above all else it has been teaching me not to press buttons. If you do like to sit there and hit things you will get blown up every single time.

What game would you use to teach how to conserve meter? What game is best for movement?

BB is great for teaching you not to press buttons actually game is frame trap heaven. Movement would probably be between KoF/GG/or Marvel 3 as there are different movement types

Have you read Sonichurricane's footsie handbook?

It's as close to a textbook as you could get, with visual aids.
