I never used Limit Break (conjurer), but my party members did. Was the bar fully charged when you tried it?
LOL you need to target an area on the ground after you activate it and isn't the blm one meteor?Random question but was anyone able to use limit breaks in Phase 3?
I kept trying as a black mage but nothing happened. Not sure if I was just doing it wrong or it wasn't available yet. I was in a party at the time of course. Eventually I just assumed I did not get one but I just saw a post listing the limit breaks for each class. xD Should have had meteor. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/sys/gameplay/battlesystem
Yea, it was fully charged and everyone was screaming for me to use it lol But no Bueno. ah well. That's cool though I would have liked to see one activated at least. Guess I will party more in phase 4.

Did you put the Limit Break skill on your action bars? I noticed if you tried to use stuff from the skill interface it didn't always play nice.
Its a big circle on the ground, it doesnt matter what you are targetingYes i said the black mage one is meteor I read the article............ I didn't see an indicator to target anything. I targeted the monster pressed limit break on the action bar and nothing happened.
Its a big circle on the ground, it doesnt matter what you are targeting
is there ANYWHERE to get a physical copy of the CE for PC anymore?
Yea I did not see that. I will just try again in Phase 4. I doubt I overlooked a big circle XD
is there a list of limit breaks?
i wish everyone get their own bar
was afraid of clicking on it as gladiator wen I did raids
Count me in as a vote for roe. That's the best looking character, plus you'll stand out!5 M, 3 L, 4 F.
Nice. =)
Limit Breaks are listed here.

The tank LB is insanely useful for situations like not killing Ifrit's fetter in time, and popping it when he's doing his special attack. Managed to save several random Ifrit parties from death with it.
My girlfriend is that exact choice of Mi'qote. So, having two of us is out of it. lol
4 M, 2 L, 4 F. Wild!
Sounds like it would have been better used on the fetter itself as an attack then.

So why don't you be a catboy to match her catgirl?
That's the prettiest Roegadyn I have ever seen.
Wow. Maybe I could swing a Roegadyn character...
nah... kitties for life... but you almost made me switch.
Yeah, she does look good.

BTW, I've been playing with a 360 controller for all the beta, and only using the keyboard+mouse for communication and more complex menu navigation.
Is there any reason I should change that, or is this set-up fine?
The one with man bitsWhich Roe? Male or female?
Is the setup I'm using and it's fine. The only problem is that at some point you're limited to 16 skills at the same time, so you have to keep changing between different layers of hot-bar skills and can be confusing, but is mostly a matter of slowly adapting (and learn to setup the skills on a more organizer manner)
I've decided that I'll probably play a Maurader for the next Beta. I was a Lancer for phase 2, and a Gladiator for phase 3. It looks like Mauraders are, at least in certain regards, a split between straight up meatshield tanks, and damage dealing lancers, so it should fit my gameplay style fairly well.
Plus, that'll start me off in Limsa Lominsa, the region where I'm least familiar. So it should be a lot fresher than going through Thanalan or The Black Shroud again, as much as I love those regions.
Finally, Warriors are a much better fit for male Miq'ote than Paladins. As far as I can tell from their lore, male Miq'ote are supposed to be, both traditional but also slightly savage outsiders, and that doesn't really fit with Paladins, at least as I picture them.

Well, the more you progress into Marauder and into Warrior, the more of a tank they become. They may (or may not) do more damage than a Paladin but no way will they ever out damage Lancer/Dragoon. But you'll quickly learn your roll in the end is a tank and as a Marauder/Warrior and will never be considering dps in a group. I'll admit though, Marauders early levels they do some pretty good damage. Suppose it all depends on what you're aiming for. Tank? DPS? /pose?
I'm probably going both routes of Paladin and Warrior for situational tanking in the end. Going to be a lot of work but worth it in the end.
but no way will they ever out damage Lancer/Dragoon.
The male Miqo'te clothes scream sailor to me, so I chose MRD for my character. He fit right in. Also personally, I like Limsa the most out of the three cities.
I definitely will need to spend more time planning and creating macros.Yeah, I was working on ways to adapt to that limitation when the beta ended.
Stage one was going to be to make different layers, for different situations. A questing/navigation layer, a combat layer, a Chocobo layer, etc etc.
Stage two was, to learn how to use Macro's, first to automatically use certain items in certain situations, such as Potion at 50% HP, and Hi-Potion at 25%, to make life easier for healers. Afterward, I figured I'd use Macro's on non-item commands, as I became more familiar with them.
Course, I'll have to set this up over and over for every job, which is kind of annoying. I'm fairly certain that using a keyboard for combat wouldn't change this however.
Unless of course you let the Lancer die. Then all the dpses can be yours.
Gladiator / Paladin - Is the tank. Wears plate armor. Uses sword and shield. Has no spells.
Marauder / Warrior - Is the tank. Wears plate armor. Uses a great axe. Has no spells.
Archer / Bard - Is ranged DPS. Bard adds support skills. Wears leather or cloth. Uses a bow. Bard songs are aura-like spells that regen MP or TP or weaken enemies.
Conjurer / White Mage - Is the healer. Wears cloth. Uses wand or staff. Has healing and status curing spells and a couple buff spells. Has a few elemental damage spells for soloing/PvP/DPS purposes.
Thaumaturge / Black Mage - Is ranged DPS. Wears cloth armor. Uses wand or staff. Has three main schools of magic; Fire for straight up nuking, Thunder for stackable DoTs, and Ice for mana regen/light damage/crowd control.
Pugilist / Monk - Is melee DPS. Wears leather or cloth. Uses fist weapons. Has no spells. Strong DoT but takes a while to "warm up" in a fight.
Lancer / Dragoon - Is melee DPS. Wears light metal (chain/scale) and leather armors. Has no spells. Spikier/burstier damage than PGL/MNK.
Arcanist / Scholar / Summoner - Is hard to say until we see it and its skills in action, but it's supposedly a HoT/DoT mage class with one job emphasizing healing (SCH, I think?) and the other emphasizing damage (SMN, I think?). Wears cloth. Uses tomes.
I wonder if Bards will be wanted
I definitely will need to spend more time planning and creating macros.
It is odd, I had used only the kb+m for the first 2 phases of Beta, and did not try the controller until the beginning of phase 3, started to really get into it since I had only ever played FFXI with a PS2 controller. Then towards the end of phase 3, felt I needed to switch back to the kb+m since only having 16 slots per page of the cross hotbar may not be enough, depending on the class you play.
The thing that I forgot to take time to test though, is it possible to use the controller with the cross hotbar, and also have other regular hotbars on screen to use the mouse with at the same time? Or are we restricted to only one or the other?
Was thinking of having essential combat abilities on one page of the CHB, maybe some non-essentials on a second, and then out of combat stuff on one or two other hotbars above the CHB or on the side of the screen.
If not, I guess I will need to take time to practice switching the CHB and hope I never get confused in the middle of battle as to which of the 8 pages I am on. Since overall, I think I prefer the feel of using the controller along with the keyboard and rare mouse usage.
I just figure that, if I always want to be kept busy, Mauraders would probably fit that better. Gladiators absorb damage amazingly well, but if their in a situation where they need to take on a DPS role, even momentarily, they're kind of out of luck. All their offensive skills seem geared toward widdling HP down over time, so if an add shows up that MUST be taken down quickly, and the DPS isn't performing well, they're kinda out of luck.
Going by their skill set, I'd say they are pretty useful. Songs that refresh the party's MP/TP? Yes please!I wonder if Bards will be wanted, I would like a support but still damage class, and bows are rad.
I hate using keyboards for gaming, if I can at all avoid them. I may be able to type pretty darn fast, but for some reason whenever I try gaming on the thing, I totally lose track of where all the proper buttons are. I end up having to look down at the keyboard every 10-15 seconds to re-orient myself.
Also, navigation feels a LOT better with a controller.

Shield Lob > Rage of Halone combo with Spirits Within in between does amazing damage--it's just as potent as WAR's B&B combo potencies (within like 10 potency)--go look on xivdb.com if you don't believe me. You don't even need to bother to use Flash to hold hate on single target doing this (even at lower level before SW). When I tanked Brayflox on PLD I never even needed to use Flash except to keep adds on me and I was partying with good players from my LS. Just use that RoH combo. I was also killing level 50 trash mobs on my PLD just as fast as I was on my (better geared) MNK. PLD can single-target DPS plenty well.
The main difference is that PLD doesn't get the good AOE damage that WAR gets; Overpower is especially strong in the early dungeons since they're so easy you don't need to use CC so early game favors MRD right now simply for their faceroll AOE damage output, but not significantly enough to be a big deal.
This is awesome and perfect! thanks for the writeup! Thanks for even explaining the types of magic Black Mages get too, I appreciate it!
I wonder if Bards will be wanted, I would like a support but still damage class, and bows are rad.
Don't make the mistake of comparing classes by the potency of their attacks. The base damage that the potency is a modifier of will also be different from class to class.
About Crafting said:After looking over everyone's feedback, here are a few of the changes planned for crafting classes.
(Please keep in mind any adjustments are subject to change)
1. Tricks of the Trade and Comfort Zone, which are used to recover CP, have been deemed to be too potent, and will therefore be adjusted.
2. Adjustments are being made so that players will need to choose which situations are best to use CP recovery skills. This will not affect the probability of creating HQ items.
3. In addition to the changes stated in 1, the use of certain actions together allowed players to craft indefinitely. To prevent this, the actions used to do so will also be adjusted.
4. Actions that are difficult to use due to their cost will have their CP costs and effects adjusted.
5. Actions with costs disproportionate to their effects will have their costs adjusted.
6. Certain actions will have their CP costs adjusted in line with the changes outlined in 1-4.
As always, if you have any additional feedback regarding crafting actions, or recipe parameters such as quality and durability, we'd like to hear what you have to say!
About Interface said:In phase 4, we'll be adding an option to set the location of items as well as action help text. You should be able to adjust the default position so that the info is always easy to read.
About FATEs said:Between Phase 3 and 4 we're not planning any adjustments to the difficulty curve for FATE battles. Once Phase 4 begins, please continue to try out each available FATE and give us your feedback.

Although removing enhancement effects after level syncing is by design, the development team is also aware of the trouble this causes when participating in FATE battles. This is especially true for FATEs that trigger immediately after the previous one ends, like the one on Highbridge.
In such cases, we're planning to adjust the level sync function so that players remain synced when FATEs are triggered one after another in the immediate area. This should be implemented by phase 4, so please check it out and let us know what you think!
About head slot toggle said:Visors up! Beginning in phase 4, players will have the option to toggle the display of their head gear, as well as their main and off hand weapons from the Character menu. No more will you have to dig into config!
Muscle memory from years and years of use. The only way to start the process is to buckle up and start using it. There has always been games that have just simply been better controlled on mouse and keyboard.
Honestly, I got REALLY lost in Limsa! I got lost in other cities as well, but not nearly as badly. I'm not really fond of Limsa itself, but I loved the surrounding landscape, from what little of it I saw.
I'd wager their songs will be pretty crucial.
Going by their skill set, I'd say they are pretty useful. Songs that refresh the party's MP/TP? Yes please!
You're welcome.
As for bards, I'm sure they'll be wanted. In 1.x they were practically a necessity for most of the later endgame stuff but in ARR their buffs are not as potent as they used to be (to compensate, their DPS is higher, relative to other DD jobs).
Seeing as Bard is a job so all its buff abilities are level 30+ there was no higher level content to test their usefulness against in the beta. I, and other 1.x players, had bard leveled so I got to test it out in beta but since there was no party content for 45+ I wasn't able to really get a good feel for their songs.
For smallman content you probably won't really need to use your songs anyway, or at least not often. Larger group content is where bard will shine. You need enough people receiving your buff to make it worth nerfing your own damage to play a song. Say on a 5 minute boss fight with 4 melee DDs, you can bet that TP song will be a great boost to the party's DPS (at the small expense of your own, but that's the point).
It's also a function of weapon damage and other stats like STR/AP. Doesn't change the fact that PLD's damage is really good.... on single targets.
