So I ended up making more avatars, heh. Now it is little less than a hundred, including three I took from ebil. Anyway, I'll post this one early because I thought it was funny.

EDIT: One that looks best with the dark forum skin on, I'd say.

I pre-ordered at EBGames.ca and they sent me codes twice for some reason. On May 30 and July 16.

I'm still on the fence about upgrading to the CE digital edition. $20 for those 4 items seems so expensive. :/ I do like them, though...

I don't think the price is too bad if you consider what other games are charging for digital items.

WoW charges $20 for mounts and $10 for pets.
Both Rift and Tera have at least one mount that costs $25.

But if I was trying to decide on a digital CE upgrade I would probably wait. Play the game and if like after a month or two I feel I'm going to stick with the game long term, I would upgrade then.

Probably not until the game releases if I had to guess.

$20 sounds terrible. i'm getting the CE for the physical stuff. the in-game items are just a nice bonus to have.

So is it going to be possible to pre-order at Amazon, get the early access code, and then cancel the pre-order? I had the original game, but I never subbed or anything so I don't think I "earned" the early access.

I just preordered the ps3 version of the game on amazon, i would like to play it on pc but i have a mac and yea... anyway. I had no idea the game would only be $40, sold. definitely. I cannot wait for early access to start for this game. I also applied for the ps3 beta but i doubt i will get it.

I think it would work, but if you do not have the disc on day of release or something you get cut-off. I believe that is what i read. I am not sure what happens to your character progress, though.

As someone who just realised this is releasing soon and quite enjoyed FFXI back when I played it what does A Realm Reborn improve from XI beyond graphics?

Improve over FFXI?

Notably, first impressions. Further to that, accessibility and general usability.

I mention only that as I consider it a fairly objective opinion (is there anyone that disagrees?). All the other 'improvements' are pretty subjective.

That said, it's a good game and you're showing interest, which means you should definitely hop into the open beta in August. :)

I'm sure this has been asked, so I apologize ahead of time. Do previous owners of FFXIV get any free game time at launch? Also, how much is the sub supposed to be for this game?

I bought the game awhile back during an Amazon sale for $8, registered the game, and logged in for all of about fifteen minutes, as I knew it was going to be shutting down for the relaunch.
1.0 owners get two weeks of free access when the game launches. Sub is $12.99 to $14.99 a month depending on how many months you pay in advance.

1. Yes. 2. No, early access is for ARR preorders and people that paid for enough months of subscription for the original.

Bummer on #2, though I suspected that would be the case - thanks though, was worried my key would be worthless, glad I got in on it when it was only $7 now!

Three more votes for Lala fell means this is tied. O.o. though I though my Roe looked pretty good in the conjurer robes...

Hmm, so phase 4 isn't going to be entirely open?

I better tell my sister and brother in law to register today then. They've considering getting into the game, but were going to try the open beta first.

This is an MMO where you need a registered account to play. Open beta doesn't mean you can play without registering....standard operating procedure for MMOs...

the official ps3 bluetooth keyboard is great if you can find it.

Holy hell, I did not know it even existed. Searching now.

Thanks a bunch!

Edit: Seems very difficult to find!

Edit 2: Located it for sale on Amazon.jp/uk, but it seems a bit too difficult/expensive to import. Thanks again :)

Edit3: Have decided to use my Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard on Parn's suggestions (below) thanks for the tips all :)

Galkas look amazing in BLM AF.

The general rule for Galka/Roegadyn: If you like how the armor set looks, then the big ass dude gives you more of it to look at.

I'm sad that the ARR ost someone ripped from the game got taken down. I'll need that for the OT. Can we expect to know the official names of those songs before the game comes out?

Does anyone have any experiance with this keyboard?

Looking to pick up a compact, wireless keyboard for when I use my PS3.

Any other suggestions would be most welcome.
Apple's wireless bluetooth keyboard works great. It came with my iMac and I prefer using a larger ergonomic Logitech keyboard when I'm at my desk. But the Apple keyboard fit perfectly for what I needed in the living room, something small and compact while not being flimsy. Connected to the PS3 perfectly.

it's this one. http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/07/japan-scores-official-bluetooth-ps3-keyboard-for-5-000/

not sure if it's officially released in your area. you'll have to search.

Oh man, thanks SO much, I have a Mac and love compact Apple keyboard. Will try this tonight, didn't even think about it.

Time to call the store tomorrow to see if they get the early access as well. I already got the 1.0 CE, but I'm probably gonna buy the ARR CE as well :p

The OT for ARR needs to have a very transparent and comprehensive FAQ section. A lot of people have questions that are answered often.

Questions easily answered on either the website or a Google search sadly. If the makers of the of wish to do so, cool. But making it their job to make a big FAQ is a bit much.

What would say are the most frequently asked questions?

Fortunately enough, the OT doesn't need to be too focused on being a guide, due to the game being highly guided (at least for the first 20 or so levels) with built-in explanations.

With the game being a re-release with tons of outdated information/guides from 1.x still occupying search results, I can see a small but informative FAQ being pretty useful.
