I just installed the beta but I can't sign in to play? Are servers down? How am I gonna make my Sasuke Targaryen character?

But Mingus told me if I gave him my credit card number and SSN I could play right NOW with his notatrojan,exe!

What do you mean? Unless SE is redefining the definition of "open beta" for an MMORPG it means "if you sign up, you get in" (rather than previous closed beta phases which were "if you sign up, you might get in"). Was there some announcement I missed where they explained doing something different? :x

The wording just sounds off. It's probably open just the method of getting on is not very clear.
Btw, for end game, does anyone know other than 24 man raids, are they scalable? (Example: Wow. 10man to 25man)

I would edit this slightly as follows:

They're hopefully gonna announce the date for Phase 4 during the live letter on the 8th so whoever applied for the Beta'll get in on that date.
You'll probably get the early access code for pre-ordering closer to the early access date.

Also, no Intro skipping but zone lines will be marked if an objective isn't in the zone you're in.
Is it worth using this on PS3 for ARR? I find the keyboard a bit complicated to use not having a desk in front on my TV but just my "legs" to use as a table.
If you get it on the PS3, buy a flipping bluetooth keyboard for 20USD on Amazon.

Yeah, that chatpad is kinda crappy. Any Bluetooth or USB keyboard will be far superior.

Perfo your lap is plenty of space for a small bluetooth keyboard. Just place it on the floor when you are not using it.
I know you think you'll be uncomfortable with a keyboard on your lap... but you would be far more unhappy with the PS3 chatpad thing.

The PC one comes with a USB nano-receiver, which you'll need for a PC unless your PC has built-in Bluetooth support. The other ones are just the keyboard itself which is fine for anything that already has Bluetooth built in.
Obviously if you think you might use it with a PC, buy the PC one. Otherwise the other two are fine.

I have been enjoying the game since Beta Phase 2, so naturally I can't wait for Phase 4 ( Open Beta ) to begin. FFXIV is exactly the MMORPG I've been waiting for ever since I quit FFXI Online - the audio-visual presentation is beautiful and the gameplay seems fun ( and potentially deep ).
Fortunately I have a lot of real-life friends who are just as excited as me, which makes this something of a throwback to the FFXI Online days. I'm much older than I was then, sure, and I won't have nearly as much free time to play, but that won't matter. My body is ready.

I wonder.. What was there to defend, really? I tried it. I liked the design of the world - I thought it looked quite beautiful for its time - but everything else was clunky and inconveniently designed.
She joined Figaro with me, but funny enough she didn't last more than 2 months.

But I think I'm a minority. Picked it originally because I heard it was a good server for Aussies but I ended up playing mostly with Americans who were just about to go to bed.I'm from the UK and I'll be in Ragnarok.

Edit: Khrno and I have been talking about making an 'un-official' GAF LS on Ragnarok. We're well aware that we'll be a minority but we figured we might as well, as there's a handful of GAF players either already there or wishing to join a 'EU timezone' server.
Riposte is aware of the fact we're going to set it up, so we'll probably add it to the OT, along with Sargatanas, Ultros and Durandal.

I'm most likely staying with Ultros since my Legacy character probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the economy. I'm just concerned there won't be many EU players, so I'll end up running around empty fields because every one else is asleep.
I'll keep an eye on other EU-gaffers and see what they'll do.

Not to be discouraging but if you really want to play with other GAF members, I would highly recommend joining Ultros/Sargatanas over starting yet another group on another server. GAF guilds have a hard enough time maintaining membership as it is and EU guilds just don't last.

I wish my friends would make up their minds. First it was okay for Legacy. Now it's not. Then it's okay for Ultros, but now it's not (Ya know, GAF guilds. Ha!). Mehhhhh. At least they're hyped for the game so that's a plus. My fate is kinda determined where they want to go though server-wise.
