Gyroid is probably his smash. Maybe the gyroid brings in a building or something. Looks like the ones that hold stuff/take construction donations in New Leaf.
Or Mega Man's up-b, which has Rush sitting around for a while after he's been called.
It's possible the Gyroid is not actually part of his moveset, but I really doubt it. Gyroids have never, ever been associated with shooting off like rockets, so I really don't see why that would be part of the Animal Crossing stage and as an item it's a poor way to represent a Gyroid. To me, it looks like a move pulled out of thin air to justify a moveset for the Villager. He needs the justification; a stage or item? Not really. It's possible for the gyroid to not be a part of his moveset, so his side-B could be the axe.

Couldn't the Gyroid be Villager's stage entrance?
I agree with you, but I'm not convinced it's a special move. It just seems way too bizarre. I'm fine with invented attacks filling out the less prominent areas of a character's move set, but special moves are supposed to be more central; there are so many more important aspects of Animal Crossing that could be used a special move instead of a Gyroid (axe, shovel, slingshot, net). Why relegate those tools to standard attacks only for a fictitious Gyroid rocket to be a precious special move? It's possible the Gyroid is not actually part of his moveset, but I really doubt it. Wouldn't the Villager exiting a house make ten times more sense?Couldn't the Gyroid be Villager's stage entrance?
Pac-Man gives a thumbs up to this design.

It's the only one he endorses.
Wouldn't the Villager opening a door and coming out of a house make ten times more sense?
I don't really know, but Villager to me seems like he's being created with a different mindset--he has a lot of moves that really do resemble specials in functionality than normals; Shovel, Bowling Ball, Slingshot, Tree Plant, Pick Up, Balloon Fight, etc., too many to be relegated to specials alone. Regarding special moves being central to a character's character, what do you make of his Balloon Fight Helmet? That looks to be almost certainly his up-special, but that has no basis in anything.I agree with you, but I'm not convinced it's a special move. It just seems way too bizarre. Up specials tend to be recovery moves, but there's nothing the Villager does in any of the Animal Crossing games that would make sense as a recovery, so I can understand why Sakurai would give him the Balloon Fight helmet. You can hold balloons in Animal Crossing, presents can fall from the sky tied to a balloon, and Balloon Fight appears as a playable NES game. I'm really not bothered by that. The only other plausible option would be something like opening an umbrella, but Peach already has that.Regarding special moves being central to a character's character, what do you make of his Balloon Fight Helmet? On the other hand, side special moves can be almost anything, and there are a lot of Animal Crossing items that make far more sense in that slot than a Gyroid.
...You know, what if the Gyroid rocket is what you get when you try planting a tree in mid-air?
We've seen him jump around in the Developer Direct -- he has a standard jump and a flipping double jump.

Villager's back air is the slingshot, though. Argh, this is so confusing. My first thought upon seeing rocketroid was that it's a back-air in the same vein as ROB's.
Since it's City Folk based it would be a bus.Would be cool if he drives in on the train or something.

what the hell is this
... I kind of want Shantae as a character. ;_;
and as a result we got one of the best characters ever in brawlSakurai couldn't say no to a blubbering pile of diapers that he calls a friend.

Who is that?
Edited: Oh Snake and Kojima. Honestly, it would suck to see Snake being cut since I really love his game-style/archetype despite that I've not complete any of his games.
Link should be the new Snake if Snake doesn't make it in
and as a result we got one of the best characters ever in brawl
i don't see the problem

I'd love that.
Link and Samus both actually.
And make em not suck while we're at it.
He was vastly overpowered, ergo he objectively was one of the best characters in Brawl. While I liked snake in brawl, he was super broken and a really weird fit.
He is far from being the best character in brawl.
When has Link not sucked, it is tradition.
That seems like quite the big assumption. I have been a Nintendo fan since Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt and I like the Metal Gear games just fine. I am not a particular proponent of Snake in Smash, but I am not against his inclusion either. The only reason I would want to get rid of him was if Simon Belmont was certain to replace him.The Escape from New York knockoff doesn't belong and is a wasted spot on the roster in my opinion. His most vocal supporters seem to be fans of Metal Gear which doesn't really overlap into the Nintendo fanbase, and that shouldn't surprise anyone, considering the majority of the characters games don't appear on Nintendo consoles. I understand some peoples excitement with his inclusion but it doesn't blast my bazooka.

I also just meant 'best' in terms of being fun as all hell both to play as and what he brought with him in way of music, attitude and codec conversations, and while arguments about relevancy were completely legit before Brawl was announced, by now getting rid of him for the new games will just cause a huge gap in the roster IMO. Same thing as when they got rid of Mewtwo and didn't really effectively replace him with anyone (Lucario doesn't count); it just makes it feel like something is 'missing' gameplay wise if you've played the previous games, historical relevancy to the company be damned.
No time for silly crossover fighters now that MGS is srsbsnz drama. Smash goes out the window with Hayter.
