It isn't hardwired. You raise a Gay man exclusively within a village of women, and while he might have social/sexual relationships with them, he'll never truly feel whole. If you take that same scenario and swap sexual orientation with ethnicity, that empty feeling or lack of fulfillment is not going to be present. Racial preference to the extent laid out within this thread is pretty much 100% social conditioning.

Yes, it is. Assigning sex can be incredibly difficult in some cases. Not to mention we have no solid definition of sex to begin with.

There are a variety of facial features within all races......

Obviously I'm generalizing, but there are significant differences in facial features from race to race. That doesn't mean everybody looks the same but there are some looks that are VERY rare indeed in some races. You're simply not going to find many Samoan women that conform to my ideal facial structure.

Not being attracted to a particular race has a lot more to do with personal choices and external influences than a person's sexuality. How is someone born not being attracted to asian women?

If it is, then I'm a mega-racist. I'm not attracted to any guys with a dark skin tone; it's just this weird thing with my preferences. So that narrows down my dating pool to most white guys and lighter-skinned Asians. And then I'm only attracted to certain body types (thin), certain ages (below 30), other things... my brain makes it difficult for me.

What defines racism, or any other form of prejudice, is not the attitude/behavior per se - but what motivates it. Generally, the underlying feeling that motivates prejudice is hate, disgust and, some times, fear.

So the answer to your question is: depends on the motive.

So you agree that it's not an inherent trait like sexuality right? To never have seen a single asian woman they've found attractive sounds like this person would have had some kind of influences or factors that shaped what they're attracted to.

For someone to say that every single person of a particular race is unattractive to them means that they're disregarding the differences in people despite their background, the country they live in or the experiences that have shaped them because of their race. How could that not be seen as racist? to say "it doesn't matter what kind of person you are, as long as you're black I'm not interested"

I don't think sexual orientation is any inherent trait at all. I think someone who has never found a single person of a given sex (out of the two major ones, due to scarcity of others) attractive "sounds like this person would have had some kind of influences or factors that shaped what they're attracted to".

Nah, it's hypothetical. I'm gay, and as I said above I'm unattracted to black guys, Latinos, middle eastern guys, south Asians, etc. Yet I do have some weird thing for thinking black girls are really attractive (even though it's not nearly enough to overcome the fact that they're, well, a woman), which is at odds with the fact that I find black guys completely unattractive.

The hypothetical is basically saying that if I were bisexual and would date black girls but not black guys, am I still racist? And are people who are bisexual and do feel that way (I know of at least one girl who loves black guys but not black girls, and only likes white girls) also racist? (Not asking you directly and insinuating that you agree with "preference = racist")
