Is it racist if you aren't attracted to a particular race?

The responses in this thread are so ridiculous I can't even read this shit anymore.

And for the record I'm not unattracted to any specific races. I just think the idea that someone is racist because they do, is completely asinine.

...Actually, I've grown up in the Deep South. All I see are white people and black people. Yet Asian guys bring me to my knees; I find them to be most attractive when I see a crowd of good-looking guys. How have I been shaped into that? If what you said is true, I'd find white guys most attractive. I don't; I consider them mildly attractive simply because I myself am white and if I didn't find myself attractive my self esteem would be in the dumpster.

Maybe you're fetishising asian guys and are less attracted to people who don't possess their characteristics?

Sigh. It's a generalization everyone makes. What makes someone black and someone Indian, what makes someone Italian?

So when you say I'm white, aren't you generalizing yourself that you look and are representative of the entire group of white people? Of course you are.

If you aren't attracted to dark skin, than you aren't attracted to dark skin and you'd say I only prefer fair skin.

Geez, that's a strawman argument if I ever saw one. I'm not racist for saying a lot of white people have pale skin or that indians have black hair. So if you say I'm not attracted to Indians, you're probably generalizing, but when you say someone is an Indian, you're doing the same aren't you? Same goes for Hispanics. People gave Disney a lot of shit for making a Hispanic princess that wasn't brown enough, as if all Hispanics need to be brown.

Like I said, making sweeping generalizations is probably indicative of ignorance, not racism.

So you're saying because it's s generalization that makes it not racist or ok? Once again there are so many variations within each race to be able to unequivocally state 'I'm not attracted to this particular race.'

No, it's about not being attracted to a specific race. You're wording it as saying all of a race is ugly. Those are 2 very different things, and saying an entire race is ugly would be a textbook definition of racism.

So what other reason would you have no to date ANYONE of that race? Either way, the answer is going to involve some massive generalization, hence the racist accusations. So yes, if you're saying you aren't attracted to anyone of a particular race, there are probably some deeper issues involved in that

Yes! I love Asian men so much.

Yes (if you wipe out the entire race beforehand. There can be preferences, but not a blanket statement that covers the entire world).

I cant fathom looking at an entire race of women and not seeing at least a handful that you'd want to have sex with. I don't know if it makes that person racist but I do know it makes them a fucking weirdo. There are insanely attractive women in every race of people I've ever seen.

I can understand finding more women of a certain race attractive, but to say you've never seen any attractive women from
insert your race of choice here
boggles my mind man.

No

Personally, i find beautiful girls from other races to be quite exotic and make me more horny ... it's that taboo thing that makes it better

But I am not attracted to Indonesians or Malaysians though

have you see most gay personal ads? especially from Asian guys? come on.

Well, sure. And I won't argue that a lot of those aren't racist, either in their tone nor their motivations. But this thread isn't about them, it's about people like you. You have your preferences, you know you'd choose an Asian over someone of another race in a heartbeat (unless you have suddenly changed on this recently; if so, I demand memos on these things, gayGAF). Are you saying you yourself are racist, or are you only talking about in the context of stuff likes those personal ads?

This is one of those threads that will appear in history classes hundreds of years from now, and our children will laugh at all of the people that are saying it isn't racist.

I would argue that it i sort of about them, the media influences people. You know the deal, not saying this is the case for everyone not attracted a specific race or has some type of preference, however this is indeed a thing. And in many ways an issue.

Don't find Regina King attractive?

it's just a matter of aesthetic preferences, not racism. Sure, claiming a entire race isn't attractive is a bit over the top

Claiming an entire race is in attractive is 99% just ignorant, not racist. I have met and know many people that say stupid comments like that without thinking it through first who are not racist.

A better question is if perhaps one race can be more attractive than another or why different races are attracted to a foreign race and not others with cross-references to gender preferences.

Attraction has nothing to do with race. That being said, some people are attracted to certain races.

its almost a catch 22 question.

When did I say that? I'm saying it's a generalization based on ignorance and no its not racist to say I don't want to date asian people. Lol, like what is this? You can't force someone to like something they don't. There are a lot of variations but pretty much 90% of each race has defining characteristics no? So when they say I don't want to date indians, I doubt they're thinking about the variants that have fair skin and green eyes.

It's why the concept of race is ridiculous because there is so much overlap and mixing that has gone on. If someone said they only date Italians, and yet they see let's say a Syrian that looks just like them, then what?

Is it racist? I don't know. Do you equate personal preference with superiority? Would it make them any less different if they said I don't date black people or Indian or fijian people to, I don't date people with dark skin?

Clearly no one is attracted to ugly people. Is is crazy that someone would prefer attractive black people to what is considered an attractive white person?

If someone really is bigoted, there are a lot more insidious ways to express that than who they choose as a monogamous partner.

A lot of racism is based on ignorance. Of course people are free to date whatever race they want to date, but do some self examination and call it what it is.

Maybe. I would definitely go after Asian guys mainly, if not maybe Latino or Black guys and that's about it. Other types of guys don't turn me on.

No it's not racist.
I wish people would stop being so incredibly dense and stop seeing racism everywhere, when in fact this is only just a matter of personal preferences.
Different strokes for different folks. Deal with it.

Not necessarily true either. There are plenty of butter faces out there that are still very bangable.

My bad.

I assumed the posts with pictures of black girls declaring their attractiveness were a challenge to some sort of opposition that had arisen.

No real opposition arose other than black women being sometimes used as an example. But "I don't like black girls" is disturbingly common in the U.S., and that probably is due to racism through ignorance (the ghetto loud black girl stereotype, the whiny, arguing black women on Real Housewives or something stereotype, etc.)

Why this needed to be addressed in this thread with lots of images, I dunno.
