The groups Latino/Hispanic and white are not mutually exclusive. And yes white Hispanic/latinos can benefit from some or all of white privilege.

No. Race in sociology has to do with appearance. Ethnic origin is what you're looking for.

My word I find it absolutely hilarious how obsessed so many Hispanics are with being white. You can see it in the posts that express offense at OPs suggestion that Zimmerman looks Latino. I cant wait until some Argentinians post about how "white" their nation is and some Spaniards assure us that they are in fact white because they're totally in Europe!

The concept of "whiteness" is expanding in America. Hispanics and people of Mixed decent marry white people at a higher rate than other minority groups. So what's happening is that you have a broader definition of "whitness" than you had in the past.
This is why half-black actors like the Rock and Vin Diesel can play "white roles" and no one really cares.
Which is why I roll my eyes anytime someone says that whites are going extinct. Actually something much more sinister is going on; Whites are expanding and blacks are shrinking. Racial politics are always going to be black and white in this country. As more minority groups disappear into the white majority, you're going to see more intense racism against African Americans. I don't see a future America where we have several different races living together in harmony. I see a future massive mixed white majority and a comparatively tiny black minority.
And the disturbing thing is, that future massive mixed majority won't be responsive to the claims of racism from the tiny black minority.

I believe Hispanics treat race differently than how we do in American. Hispanic tend to define themselves by country of origin, such as Mexicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, etc.At the same time they can be black Cubans or white Cubans depending on skin tone. However, at the end of the say they still see themselves as Cubans and, if forced to, would check the Hispanic box and then a sub-box for black or white.

Well, if they get any of the reactions I do in the United States, more likely they'll be told that they can't possible be South American, Hispanic, or from their countries because they have pale skin, blue eyes, blonde hair, or any combination of the three. Therefore they must stop identifying as the culture and heritage they're from and identify with another because: "You look like one of us and not one of them."
Basically.
No what we're tired of us people telling us that we have to look a certain way when it's completely born out of ignorance. My pale skin does not make me any less "South American" or "Hispanic" than anyone else.

As to me, I'm pale as fuck but I don't consider myself "white" before "mexican". Now, latino...not so fond of that, sounds like a moniker for a reggaetonero, and Lord knows how I feel about them.

No , it's almost impossible to go south america -> spain. You never get a visa for working or doing anything more than studying.
And South American countries had and still have a lot of European immigrants too, what is your point? Heck, Spain has a very, very large history with middle eastern and African people as well, so saying: "no one in Spain looks like Zimmerman" is really beyond stupid.
