Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

From new Famitsu:

3DS and Wii U stages and music are completely different. 3DS is being created as a "portable" version, and Wii U version is being created as a "home console" version, so we will see some differences in that way. It isn't trying to be a super similar game on both consoles.

There is nothing like the SSE story mode. Instead, they are trying to do something more focused on character collaborations of their all-star cast. For the 3DS version, they are planning on having the usual versus mode, plus another completely different way to play.

Now it is the time my hype imagine a 3D adventure Ocarina of Time style mixing Fox, Kirby and Zelda and I realise that the game will never fullfil my hype =(

.....hype increasing. So many possibilities and I'm happy to hear they're focusing on the characters collaborating. Gawd the ambition

Seems like the 3DS and Wii U versions are completely different games. I suppose it's better than having one version as a port of the other.

Personally I was hoping for something similar to the Kid Icarus Uprising campaign. Keeping things chapter based with something brand new happening in every stage, and then having some sort of fun dialogue narrating the experience.

Or something like that.

Thanks for the heads up!

Lets see, specific character cross overs with special movies huh? Possibly anyway of we consider past interviews.

- Kirby and Yoshi battle it out and try to out eat each other.

- Fox and Samus, that's all.

- Mario and Sonic duke it out then compete in the Olympic Games. How mad would everyone be?

- Donkey Kong and Wario compete to be the best forgotten Mario villian.

- Diddy Kong and Luigi do something in regards to playing second fiddle but getting their own adventures.

- Falco and Falcon alter their respective G-Difuser systems on their ships to race each other in space and along a track.

- Peach and Palutena figure out who's hoard of minions are most useless.

I don't know, some of you guys are pretty funny.

Confirming that they will indeed have different soundtracks (cos I always suspected they would) gives me hope that Super Mario Lands 2's Athletic Theme will finally get some love. Who knows perhaps it will actually not even have the Super Mario Bros theme since that is seen as a console tune (yes I know we have SMBDeluxe, NES Classics and the VC)

On the other hand everyone's favourite WAHrathon, the NSMB theme, appears on both consoles and handhelds.

Thank you Famitsu, and here I thought the 3DS version was to be the home console version while the Wii U version was the portable version.

Vague, but good news nonetheless. I really want to hear what they're doing with the 3DS version.

C'mon dude...
you know what they meant by that.

Interesting. I'm excited to see what they come up with.

I'm surprised the 3DS and Wii U versions will have different stages and music. I figured the 2 games would be pretty much the same aside from better graphics on the Wii U.

Nope. Only thing they're going to share are the roster, items and same basic gameplay. There's some level of connectivity between the two though.

That's lame, I really loved SSE. Hopefully the single player mode they have in this game is similar in the amount of content.

If anything, i'm not overly keen on the separate music thing.

Does make sense with stages though. Need more detail.

I'm glad they're not doing another SSE. It was totally not worth the possible large amount of time put into it when they could've spent better time with other things. SSE was fun until the novelty wore off then it became a really tedious game.

We've known this for a while, and it doesn't really make sense to aim for parity between the two anyway, the Wii U is capable of so much more in terms of scope and assets that the 3DS version actually would be holding it back.

It's not a case like with the Vita where you could reasonably have the same game on both platforms with concessions on the handheld, the 3DS's screen is simply too small and too low resolution to pull that off and 3DS carts don't have anywhere near the capacity of a BD-ROM (though they might not even use the full capacity of the disc on the Wii U version, so that might be a moot point).

I'm also really glad they're not trying because I thought the portable version of PSASBR was pretty bad because I couldn't see *anything*.

Out of curiosity, what did you really love about SSE?

SSE should have been shorter. Much like Melee adventure mode it should have just focused on the series represented by the fighters and maybe even the stages.

So keep the Kirby Fun Pak-esque levels from SSE, but without the generic scenery and then each one is followed by a game specific boss. So more Peteys and Reidleys and less back and forth robot thing with two heads or whatever the SSE original characters were like.

And make Diskun the master behind the whole thing so you don't have to worry about one series overshadowing the rest.

Expecting a divine picture.

Are you familiar with the source material? It's pretty much identical to it.

God knows the Animal Crossing series is responsible for taking a criminal amount of hours away from my time ... it's just that, from the picture's perspective, I can't help but view it that way, never happened to me in the games proper. I don't mean the way the hair looks, but rather, than in this picture it seems less like hair that's naturally part of his head, and more like an add-on.

Mind you, this is not a complain, just seems amusing to me. Game looks superb.

Huh... maybe some people we'll get their wish and we'll see some mode with bad mini-games based on the various franchises in the game?

I don't think it references crossovers in special movies, considering how unlocking movies was the first thing that Sakurai denied about the single player.
