Fighting Games Weekly | July 22-28 | Life's A Beech

They aren't pulled out of thin air. It's just common sense that it costs a lot of money to develop LoL.

And people much smarter than you have decided F2P is a good idea regarding every recent fighting game released or being released in the near future.

I *cringe* that I'm getting involved in this, but:

Injustice: not F2P
MK9 Steam: not F2P
Divekick: not F2P
BBCP: not F2P
JoJo's ASB: not F2P
Darkstalkers Resurrection: not F2P
P4A Euro release: not F2P
Skullgirls steam: not F2P

Tekken Rev: F2P
KI: F2P w/ not F2P option
(Chinese game I can't recall): F2P

You need an extraordinarily narrow definition of recent and a nonsensical definition of near future to make your sentence work. Even if you changed "every" to "majority" it still doesn't.

Via nothingxs on Twitter, looks like something else is headed for da beech.

FYI, Sint Maarten is right below the "co" in Puerto Rico.

Living in PR sucks because of this

F2P is without a doubt something that should considered and experimented with, but it's far faaar too soon to say whether it will be a good idea for the genre and, more importantly to this thread, the active community of devoted people who play and support the games and the competetive scenes that surround them.

What's more, I hope that you know that putting down anothers intelligence during an otherwise reasonable debate makes you yourself look like an unpleasant boob.

Even smart people can make mistakes.

To me, the best way to sell a video game is to make something that people will want to play because of the fun and satisfying core gameplay. Adding costumes, characters, hats, glasses, etc. doesn't make a game significantly any more fun to play. F2P just changes the way that developers create their game, instead of making a fun to play game, the emphasis is directed towards making a game based around selling additional content, because that's how the money is made. Not the best method to design a game in my opinion.

Also, tropical storm or giant hurricane kick?

Yep, knew that.
But it's funny how bitter he now sounds toward the character. Maybe it's just my imagination, though.

Well I still play Makoto sometimes so I don't know if "bitter" is the right word, it just is what it is. She can get pretty brainless and autopilot at a certain point. That's just how things go with a high risk/reward character in a game that's already pretty setup heavy. I think Viper's worse in that regard and I still play her sometimes too.

infiltration, Diago, Tokido, Sako, gamerbee --- any of these guys going to the beach?

haven't seen their names listed for attendance.

edit: i see now that gamerbee will be there

I wonder if Twitch will look into supporting Google's new Chromecast.

Could be cool.

They could always make a tent out of Brokentier shirts!

The neat thing is that they don't have to, if the Chrome part works as I hope it will. If you can just send your Chrome tab to your TV, that should do it right there. I am excited to try it, pre-ordered one. Going to try beaming a tab with Jaxel's multistream viewer to my TV.

Don't most new tvs have built in Netflix/Youtube/whatever support?

Interface and controls leave much to be desired.

tldr for lazy people?

Philip Banks' EVO trip was his first experience of going to a FG event after reading forums, watching assist me series and reading tweets, and it went bust.
And it could happen to you too.
Also, explains why we cannot be real esports

EDIT: A special quote:
'Claiming a win based on controller malfunction? Is that what would Ryu do? If his glove fell off and hit Ken bare fist, would Ken say ' Ha, I win'? No, they'd just fight cause they want to prove who the ultimate warrior is. If a fictional character can have these morals, why can't real players do this? '

Oh that's good. That's real good.

I'm not that far in, but he seems to be mostly complaining about the people he offered to drive down to EVO. Apparently they weren't living up to their end of the bargain and at one point accuse him of stealing $27. Also he just seems to think they treated him very poorly in general.

Edit: Man, I didn't notice this thing was 56 minutes long. Screw that.
