Does the "voice" actually control the battle voices(in game grunts)? Sometimes Vanillaware's games have a voice option, but don't alter that.

Yeah you get to select the voice type (Jap/Eng) for the character on the character select screen

Yep, in the options menu you have the ability to hide or show Damage values, HP Gauge and Subtitles. There is even a space for Narrator, which right now can't be changed from default. I'm guessing DLC?

There are character-narrator voice packs unlockable through gameplay or DLC, yeah. So I guess this confirms that the US version does not get the Japanese narrator and NPC voices? What a shame.

Slight more detail on unlocking co-op in this article, seems it took this guy 5 and a half hours to unlock. I get that this was probably a design choice just to sooth the player in and get a feel for the controls on there own, instead of partying them up with beginners and experts right from the get go, but over 5 hours in to unlock seems a bit too long to me. Especially for people who were looking to buddy up with friends online right from the start.

That's pretty lame. I mean, I get it, but that's a solid 1/3 of the game from other things I've heard.

Worse, I can't tell if this means you unlock it permanently from your first playthrough, or if every new character you create will have to level through the same areas before they can play online. That'd be pretty obnoxious.

Luckily I'll be playing couch co-op almost exclusively for this.

EDIT: Yeah, actually, this makes it sound like each character has to do this:

I'll start up a new character tonight and take a more aggressive approach. I think I can easily cut the time in half.

I know that Amazon and GameStop have it. I haven't checked elsewhere yet, since I already had it pre-ordered on Amazon a while back.

Edit: Walmart also lists the artbook.

I would imagine that any of the sites listed on the pre-order page on the official site would probably include it, though.

I'm still on board for the Vita version. Unfortunately I have a pretty middling 32" LCD TV that won't compare to that OLED, and after playing Muramasa on the Vita I have seen just how good Vanillaware games can look on the Vita.

I'm loving it so far. I especially enjoy the narrator - they do a great job evoking the old-school D&D Dungeon Master feel. It's almost like playing a boxed module.

Amazon does mention it, but a lot of people seem to miss it...it's the last thing mentioned under the info under the price, next to the picture of the cover art.

Late reply, but yeah, I double checked the plastic boxes the games were sitting in, both had the "used game information" sticker on them (which shows details about the condition of the game, if manual is included, etc.). Dunno where those copies came from.

That's an excellent question; I'm not sure if we know at this point.

Also, to those that mentioned a spike in difficulty... that actually sounds awesome to me. . Would it be possible to finish those harder stages simply by tackling them like an arcade beat'em up, i.e. by memorizing the stage and not getting hit?

Edit: I have another question for those that have the game. It was mentioned before that the game only had 9 stages. For those of you that are 5 hours deep and more into the game, I'm assuming you've had to replay some of these stages several times? Were layouts /enemies / bosses altered and such? How many distinct stages have you seen so far?

It's also good to know, that the element of the O spell depends on your rod.
It's not written anywhere, but various background glows for the rod in the menu show which element it is. So far I've seen yellow (lightning), blue (ice) and red (fire).
It's important to remember that and choose the element wisely, because the available spells vary between elements (for example O in mid air with a lightning rod is the best!) and some may not work in certain environments like fire while standing in water.

Played for 14 hours straight. It's pretty good.

A few things I don't like about the game, like your character getting lost in clusterfuck battles, right stick cursor control, lack of cross play between PS3 & Vita and not enough dungeons/locations.

Enjoyable for the most part.

Well, I've just completed all the levels once, which (storywise) makes you then go through a separate path in the same levels again. I haven't done this, so I'm not sure how different they are yet. However, there is also a random feature, not sure how that works yet either, didn't have time to test it, but after you complete the 8th level, going out of the main gate will put you in a random level instead of being able to pick.

Finally completed my first normal run. I stick by what I said earlier, second half of the game is a huge grindfest. I guess it's their way of encouraging people to jump online, but eh, it dragged down the experience.

Still tons of fun, though. Final boss is brutal, not sure how I could have managed it without Sorc's protection skill.

Yeah.....I agree. The framerate for the Vita version really doesn&#8217;t seem like it&#8217;s worth worrying about. Throw in all the other Vita positives (touch screen controls, OLED goodness, taking screenshots) and the Vita version is still my pick.
