Fighting Games Weekly | July 22-28 | Life's A Beech

I agree, but most fighting games don't have 3 extreamely close friends like Noel/Tsubaki/Makoto lol

By the way, running all the Marvel matches on stream, even if it's only a 40-man tournament and you stop at top 8, is a terrible idea.

A 40-man double elimination tournament means 78 matches need to be played to determine the winner. Top 8 is 10 matches, so if you stop before top 8, that's 68 matches.

Say each match takes on average 10 minutes to run when you take into account sitting down, plugging in controllers, setting buttons, checking buttons, playing the match, unplugging controllers, and standing up again. (This may even be an underestimate for Marvel 3/5, especially when you take into account FChamp's 10-minute pauses between games.) So that means you can play 6 matches on stream each hour.

So the total amount of time it takes to get to top 8 when you play all matches on stream is 68/6 = 11.33 hours, or 11 hours and 20 minutes.

If you stop at top 16, then you have only 56 matches to play to get there from 40 entrants. That will still take 9 hours and 20 minutes.

BEECH!

What's wrong with a full day of Marvel?

Yeah whatever I'm gonna watch summer games done quick
Undead

Hotsun

Every fan art I've ever seen makes her look pretty intact.

Besides, I thought she was a ghost, not a zombie. ;-)

So why is this a terrible idea when Capcom Fighters has 12 hours to spare and nothing but Marvel to stream?

It's not a vacation. :-P

I see no problem, then. SolarPowered will back me on this one. He loves undead blue girls! ;-)

This is the disconnect between catering to the people actually at your event and catering to the stream. 9 hours of marvel might be good for you, but it's not good for the people who actually paid to attend the event (or were paid for). Those people would have nothing to do for 9 hours but sit around unable to leave with the monotony occasionally broken by one of the 2-6 matches they have to play to make it to Sunday.

Personally, if I were there, I would play fighting games. If I'm desperately bored, I would read a book. Then again, I hate beaches.

20k more people would rather watch the credits to Nier than Mahvel's pause screen.
I would. Anytime of the day.
Nier and Nier music = <3

Also, tanuki is mad boss on this beach artwork!
Beach tanuki for 5th character!

So, since da beech is not showing any beach or funny settings or even interesting matches, I suppose it's time for me to unwrap Dragon's Crown, which I just fetched on my way home from work.

The next fighting games weekly needs to reference VxG's 40 Marvel entrants.
