No, that's great. I had seen those stats (or the ones from 1.0) years ago but I didn't remember the differences, so it is informative.
I just don't think that races should have any impact at all on the gameplay, they should be mainly for aesthetics, specially in this game where you can be all classes in a single character.

Yoshi-P could've warned us before that the lag was due to debugging tools being enabled, though!
The thing is that they didn't know they were causing this lag, because just how many people were affected, others weren't, so it wasn't until after the start of the beta phase that they found out, and fair enough, that's what the beta is for.

Yes, only starting difference. There's no growth bonus or anything like that specific to classes.

If you are playing a tankish class you want a bigger race so players have harder time clicking on the squishy characters and are forced to waste time tab targeting

As far as the racial starting stats go, Sea Wolves make great tanks.
Hellsguard got the shaft though, which is a bit unfortunate since that's probably what I'm going to play.
Either way I'm not letting racial stats affect my decision since the differences end up being so minuscule.

Well, shouldn't make a big difference for me either way. Cause even the smallest Miqo'te aren't that small, and the biggest aren't that big. Like Hyume Midlanders, they're kinda in the middle ground in terms of size, they just, are a bit on the smaller end of the middle ground.

Ifrit looks alright, but I really don't care for Titan or Garuda egis. They don't look enough like the full summons to me. I know they are just a fraction of the power, but still - Ifrit egi looks similar to the actual primal. Titan Egi just looks like a few rocks hovering together. :/
Hard to tell its exact scale, but if I'm guessing right it's pretty decently sized. It could stand to be a little larger still, to give it more of a presence, but the design itself isn't bad at all.

I don't even mind the actual size that much (although it would be nice if they were just a little bit bigger). I just don't like the design of the Garuda or Titan egis - they don't look enough like the primals, imo. Especially Titan, though... The Titan primal looks awesome. The egi looks terrible compared to that.

Not as good as kitties, but they do look good. I think the FFXIV dev team followed the, "Females must be hawt!" rule, when designing races.

Except, very early in the game the mob difficulty is scaled such that they are easy no matter what, so it STILL doesn't make a difference
.The egis look like elemental spirits from XI rather than full summons.

What? No. Elementals spirits are in the game as enemies and they don't like Egis at all...

Yeah, I think they are still doing that. I don't know if it will be implemented at launch though.
I bothered the hell out of me to watch my elf character run. Because their necks are so long it was so horrible noticing his neck wobble back and forth. I couldn't handle it after awhile. Never again.

Summoner seems to be working out very differently than XI's. It shouldn't be too hard to accept this. Full primals will be a general thing, like they usually are in FF games, while SMN will be a job which taps into such power to be their own type of pet class. I get the feeling most of their egi actions will be accessed by casting spells and having them react to that. I much prefer that design (caster+1) than the mess that was FFXI's SMN.

Yup the main reason I'm so excited for SMN is because I played a warlock in WoW for about 6+ years. I love the whole caster with a helper thing feels well... caster like.
With the lore the way it is in ff14 having more than one ifrit out at a time would be stupid as hell as well. It makes much more sense to have a character that can tap into a primals power than someone who can just make the primal their bitch... when it's well a fucking primal.

Ah that's right. Very cool. I'm curious if that works out as the actual Primal that joins in on the fight or just one big'ol AoE/DD spell from the Primal. Exciting either way.
Oh, that's neat.
It's also one heck of an incentive to join up with a Free Company at the end game.
I want the pictures, and the escalator. I'll figure out where to put them later.
So, I take it you're already planning the great Escalator caper of 2013?

What ones? What I played in beta and only thing I noticed was that the neck wasn't as noticeable as in XI, thank goodness.
