Trials Evolution (PC) is completely broken for a number of Nvidia users

This port is a piece of shit. When a game like this runs better on console you know they fucked up bad. I am running on a 3570K and a 770. There should be no dips in fps no matter what is happening on the screen in this game. played a ton of HD on 360, fair amount of Evolution too and can say runs a lot smoother on console. If you enable vsync the input lag is unbearable. disable vsync, tearing everywhere. A little explosion in the background, drops below 60. Fuck this port. Usually when I complain about a port it's because they didn't make it as well as they could have for a PC, not because they couldn't make it run as well as the bloody console.
Similar boat. Slowdown where there shouldn't be, texture loading delays whenever starting or restarting a course, shitty artifacts that are clear hangovers from it's console port... it's honestly like they copied the 360 code to the letter, renamed the executable and injected it with an unhealthy dose of Uplay.

Expected more from RedLynx :/

After taking an entire day to get uplay working to run AssCreed II I swore to never bother with a uplay title again. GFWL and Uplay are the worst things to ever happen to pc gaming. The only issues I ever have in getting games to run revolves around those 2 piece of shit ecosystems

I recently signed up for Steam and bought a bunch of stuff during the summer sale in anticipation of getting back into PC gaming.
Then after Frankensteining a free PC together (Core i5 650/6GB/4850 1GB) for the short term, I quickly ran into a game that wouldn't run at all and remembered why I ditched PC 10+ years before. It turned out to be GFWL bullshit and was quickly solved, but still.

Valve allows it. They could tell any of these publishers "no gateways", but they don't.

It's a nice conceit but in all likelihood such a restriction would just see such publishers stop releasing their client-tethered games on Steam. There are even a few Ubi titles sitting in the registry that it hasn't bothered to release despite Valve's "lax" policy (e.g. King Kong and Tintin).

It's heartbreaking to hear this game is bad on PCs. I was waiting for a long time for it to be released, and then they botched it big-time. I don't even want to attempt to try it on my Q6600 / 4GB RAM / GTX 9800. So, so sad. Ugh. Ubisoft is letting me down lately, forcing the UPlay aspect, ruining the Assassin's Creed series, sending Prince of Persia off to die as a mobile game, and the list goes on.

I am hopelessly addicted to the game on XBLA, both evolutions and hd, but I won't touch this with a 10-foot-pole until I hear they've patched it up REALLY well.

It's a shame the port is still ridden with problems for some users, because despite the rare slowdowns I've had with my 5850 the game's really, really great. All the uPlay crap and other things Ubi Shanghai messed up with can't ruin the fantastic game RedLynx have created.

As others have stated the port is a dog, can't confirm it but i remember that people on forums were talking about all these fixes/patches the developer had in store but it's been months now and fuck all has shown up.

My issues.

1. Slowdown, not framerate lag because the game shows a steady 60 at all times but it looks exactly like that.
2. 60fps cap, what's the point of this exactly?
3. Uplay

How come Gabe allows Ubisoft to put DRM in DRM when the same games are sold on consoles without the Uplay bullshit?

... 'Gabe' doesnt have to allow anything. Ubisoft's PC versions of games have Uplay, that's how it is. Valve can decide wether to put it on Steam or not. They don't force Ubisoft to change stuff. They put it on Steam, and list the 3RD party DRM on the store page. You can either get it, or not.

I dont see the issue. They are a business. Steam doesnt need more limitations that would make more publishers neglect the service.

so about them asscreed shadows huh

well yeah, 'mostly' fine

I played this in the beta and reported several performance issues and the fact that it launched at 30hz when an hdtv(samsung only ?) is connected. There was no way to select 60hz at all, I wanted to get the game during the sale but I was afraid they hadn't fixed it and there'd still be performance issues.

I almost bought it during the Steam sale, but after my horrible experience with Fallout 3 on PC, i decided to try the demo of Trials Evolution, and it ran pretty bad despite me exceeding all the requirements they had and be able to play most games with no issues.

Really puts a dent in the whole "master race" when some developers just do not bother much

I think GTA IV also suffers the same optimization issue.

What a disaster.

You missed the point.

How come the console versions (i.e. X360 DRM, PSN DRM) do not have Uplay where as the PC version on the Steam store has Steam DRM and Uplay DRM?

That's ridiculous.

They do, it's just not a launcher/storefront/drm system. It's a rewards system for owning multiple ubisoft games on consoles. It's the little dlc like unlocks you also get on pc. It's pretty much the only thing uplay does on consoles though.

That's a bad argument. Consoles are closed ecosystems where as PCss are open. Uplay is used to some effect in Ubi's console titles as well, you can get those Ubi points to your Uplay account to "buy" extras to your games.

320.49 are not beta drivers, they are the latest stable drivers and the game crashes on launch with them.

Are there any plans to release a fix with the latest driver version?

Did you try to downgrade to 320.19 or 314.22 drivers as recommended in the earlier developer response?

After issues with this game, and with the Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon games crashing at startup if they're not installed on my C: drive which non of my other games are, I am done with Ubisoft games on the PC. They are a shit company.

Might be ridiculous, but are you running MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision? Just wondering.

Sorry for the late response, I was busy all day.

I do not have either running and the problem also persists even without Fraps running.

I did and it didn't work.

The game just started crashing for me at the start screen and I haven't downloaded any drivers or changed anything in my computer. The game has worked pretty much fine with 320.49 drivers until now. This sucks.

You buy a ubisoft port and you're gona get burned.

The past 5 + years should've taught you that OP

Someone should make one of those anti drugs posters showing broken/poor ubi ports, with the words 'ubisoft, not even once'

You didn't even see from dust, rayman origins, or driver SF,

Is that true?

They will not run unless they are installed on C?

During the summer sale on steam, I picked up far cry blood dragon, installed it, then u-play kicked in and asked me to log in for the first time in a long time, took me a few tries too log in, eventually I get in and realise all my other uplay games are missing, it seems I had logged into an old account I had set up years ago but never used and I can no longer log into my other account. Sort of my fault, I hold my hand up.

I emailed as quick as I could about the problem, which was actually about 2 days later as every time I tried to send though to their response team it kept failing. Anyway, 2 weeks later and I have heard nothing back from them, I did get an email from ubisoft informing me of new games coming out, no help though, rather frustrating, and it really has put me off uplay, I thought of it as quite innocuous originally.

i bought it during the steam sale in the (perhaps forlorn) hope it'd get better. I don't think it will.

Will quietly weep and wait for the next game on consoles.

I've bought only one Ubisoft game on PC since they started that Uplay BS, and I got that one cheap from a Steam sale too.

My experience: thanks to some Uplay key shenanigans it took me 4 hours to get the game working or rather get the game properly tied to my uplay account after I had it installed.

I guess fixing the issues might be a bit more difficult than normal, thanks to Ubisoft outsourcing the developement of the PC version to China...

I've the same issue. Bypassed it by starting the game in windowed mode and then changing into full screen. I've a GTX770 so I really can't even try some old random drivers that might fix the issues I have with the game; I have to use newer drivers with that card.

But damn, the game STILL stutters in many levels. The demo worked pretty much fine when I tested it. But the actual game is stutter hell at times. It usually helps when I drive through the level once but that's really not a good solution to an issue that shouldn't even exist.

So disappointed. Trials games are among my favourite during this (console) generation but this PC port is really depressing.

I've got Rayman Origins and Driver SF and both of those were worked great on my PC, as well as AssCreed II and probably a few other Ubi games.

Its the first one thats just been completely non-functioning for me.

While you're in the game you should try changing the resolution around.

It was an awful stuttery mess at 1080p then it ran perfectly smooth at 1440p, THEN when switching back to 1080p later it was still perfectly smooth.

Ubisoft Shanghai did a truly shitty job porting this game, and Redlynx don't seem very interested in supporting it either. Guess they're busy with next-gen Trials.

Hey, an update has been released!

But wait... what's that?

Don't even think I'll be bothering to fire it up, despite being one of the lucky few that can actually get into the game. "Performance issues" for a game that runs flawlessly on 360 is arse.
