Just played the beta. Looks awesome. Barely scratched the surface though. Will try again after work today.
 
Every new footage that i see of this game only makes the graphics look more better and impressive. Sadly, i didn't get a BETA code. Still looking/waiting for one :[
 
Anyone else kind of surprised how much press this game has been getting? Sony usually doesn't get coverage for games this regularly, even for major releases. Nice to see that they're really confident in this title and are letting people play it to see for themselves. Hopefully a price drop for the Vita and the release of this can spark some sales.

I agree completely, my jaw dropped the moment I started a match. Thanks for a GAF member who was kind to gift me a code, this game is gorgeous.
 
Anyone confirm that the cover and movement system from the SP game is now in multiplayer???!!! I was crushed when I found out they pulled that from the ps3 versions and I would adore it if they put it in the vita version to pace the game a little slower since there are fewer players or something like that....

Crossing fingers. KZ2-3 gifs make me all warm inside. I start hearing chirps at work.

I think it's there. I'm not really a series veteran but you can cover behind walls and pop up to shoot in multiplayer. That what you're talking about?

Fuckin. Stellar.

They need to drop their bs excuses and get the cover system in Shadow Fall as well. So good looking and immersive and adds so much to the tactics of a firefight. NEEDS to be in or at least an optional toggle setting for multi-matches.

Great it's here on the vita. How are the movement/controls with the vita? Anyone wanna bother with typing out the mapping for all of us lowly public beta peeps?

In the SP game of 2 and 3 you can stick to/slide into cover and hold against a wall with your gun up... then dip over the top edge and take pot shots before popping down again. Definitely not just crouching behind a wall and then standing to shoot and crouching again ... if that's what your referring to.

Yeah, the pot shots are definitely there. I haven't figured out how to run & slide yet, but there might be some work for them to do on sprinting anyway. It's currently either the circle button, which is also mapped to crouch when not running, or you have to double-tap and hold the back touch, which pretty much sucks altogether.

I feel like if a game ( like this one ) comes out and actually makes an intelligent use of the back touch panel I would finally have a reason to get used to it. I haven't played a single game so far that had anything vital mapped to that back panel and it could easily function as L2/R2 in my eyes... after a few games I feel like i would get used to holding the vita so that i wasn't constantly touching it off and screwing myself up while I game.

A lot better then taking your thumb off the right nub to run.

FIFA allows you to aim shots based on where you're touching on the back pad. Revolutionized the game for me. Unfortunately, I have no friends with Vitas to play it with and single player soccer games don't go very far with me.

Other than that, I completely agree. Haven't played anything else that made me say "I'm glad that they out in that touchpad..."
 
Anybody else in the closed beta? It is a blast. I love this game. I keep playing it despite every 3rd game it does a hard crash. Lots of latency issues of people freezing and then moving at unreal speed popping across the screen. Hoping these will be ironed out in the final version but a single player version with bots would still be worth it to me.

I have had hard crashes in every online experience on the Vita: Madden, Resistance, Call of Duty (although they all haven't as been as bad as the beta of Killzone) I kept thinking it was just the programming. If they can't get Killzone to work without crashes I am thinking it might be a hardware problem. Or maybe it is my network setup?

Most likely this. I get the occasional crash but I played a bunch with Resistance, Call of Duty, MLB 12/13, and PSASBR and rarely had any consistent issues.

I also haven't had the Killzone beta crash on me yet over the course of 15-20 matches.

Weird. I don't have anything non-standard going on with my network. Standard WPA G Wifi on at AT&T Uverse router.

I have a feeling you might have a corrupt download - possibly. Or network issues, or a bit unlucky.

That's my biggest real problem with the Vita. Sometimes the downloads go through but they are definitely not correct downloads - I had so many weird bugs in JSR, re-downloaded and it was perfect.

The only game I get crashes with often is CoD MP. Redownloaded, still the same.

I think you might do better to leave the Vita closer to the router when playing and downloading - just to see if it is the connection...could get an access point to boost the signal (careful with compatibility with your original router).

Or maybe you've just played this way more! I've played about 20 games now and had 1 crash - when I was playing in my room far away from the router and with a powerful fan on closeby.

I still hope we get bots too - even if the points don't transfer to MP like they do with the other SP stuff. I just want a backup game with easy/medium/hard bots. Please :(

Also the people flying across your map - I only saw this once or twice and it was when people spawn near that area and are moved to it. I don't get why this happens. Why can't they just be invisible until they are in the area! Loads of games still do this :/ I assume that isn't a networking thing. I didn't see it too often but even once is too much. Gives away positioning etc.

First - try to untick this option:

Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode - it's in the settings app, under power saving. It should give you a little boost.

It is now officially pre-ordered from Amazon. I was already sold, this sealed the deal and made me just go ahead and purchase it. Damn Developer Diaries.

Heck yeah. I enjoy playing Killzone "multiplayer" with all bots more than online. Killzone seems to be the only game still supporting bots. If anything needs bots it is a Vita FPS so I can play it on a train and practice for when I can get online.

I am going to experiment with my Wifi to try to reduce the crashes. At least I am sending in my error reports. I wonder if anybody really looks at those?
