This is great news, but I think they might be jumping the gun a bit. Theres nothing to indicate this but the writer's thoughts. And is Nikki writing this article while she's on vacation?

Yes! I will be there day 1 at midnight. Hope they release a cartoon or graphic novel, hopefully detailing the first years of the Kaiju attacks.

Just got back from We're The Millers, what's up gu-

Box Office GAF fails us yet again, just like _________ GAF

Mind you, it's still not confirmed and could easily just be a setup to crush my dreams, but who cares, WOOOOOOOO

Also thanks for nothing America

The worst part about this is that it'll probably be around a 2-3 year wait for the sequel.

And it will push back Hellboy 3 and At the mountain of madness. Del Toro can make any of these movies next and I'll be happy but I want them all within the next 3 years :(

Hellboy 3 has sadly probably passed, since Perlman is too old now. Mountains of Madness I do want, though

I find it very bizarre that Nikki has jumped on the Pacific Rim bandwagon while she was so eager to gleefully mock other similar big budget box office disasters. Sequel would be very welcome of course, but we will see if one actually pans out... I'm still skeptical.

But international was always a big part of Pacific Rim‘s strategy in a crowded summer marketplace.
First of, great. Second, fuck you.

Hopw can you be Amricocentric, you effing pricks?? You flood our cinemas, pushing out local movies through deals with chains but it's rare for a movie to cater for the international market?? Disgusting.,

God I hope so! I don't want any other sequel more than this! And I'm sure now that the movie has done alright and sorta established itself with good reviews, the sequel will probably do better.

Thank you for saving the day China!

true, she destroyed Lone Ranger and John Carter before it came out.

VERY very good to hear, one of the best films I have watched in the cinema ( or the best experience I have had)

true, she destroyed Lone Ranger and John Carter before it came out.

She's never liked Disney and has a propensity for protecting those execs she likes (including Legendary).

Even if she's jumping the gun, a sequel seems more and more likely as the international numbers have continued to perform. We'll probably be seeing more of this going forward.

I would be cautiously optimistic about a sequel at this point regardless of what Deadline is saying, but $9M opening day is a fantastic start in China. That will probably translate to at least $75M, which means $350M worldwide is locked, and $400M will probably happen.

Yeah, right alongside his other projects At the Mountains of Madness, Frankenstein, Slaughterhouse Five and Drood. Or his Haunted Mansion project. Probably somewhere in between Beauty and the Beast and Dark Universe as well. But not before his TV Shows The Strain and adaptation of Monster.
