19. If my day, week or year is going badly, I need not ask of each negative episode or situation whether or not it has sexist overtones.

26. My clothing is typically less expensive and better-constructed than women’s clothing for the same social status. While I have fewer options, my clothes will probably fit better than a woman’s without tailoring.

44. Complete strangers generally do not walk up to me on the street and tell me to “smile.

the strangers telling you to smile thing has happened a few time in my life, and every time I felt like punching them in the face. how fucking obnoxious is that?

This is just bullshit. Good looking clothes for guys usually costs more than for women.

It's missing the:

I don't need to buy new clothes and shoes and shit for each wedding I have to go. I always use the same a no one criticises me. Especially my own sex.

Yup.

My girlfriend does this and tends not to give a fuck. Most of the time it's women doing this to women as guys don't really care. I guess it could still be considered male privilege as guys in general won't do this to guys. You're still expected to dress well for a wedding though.

I'm not sure this list will have the intended result. There are a few on there that definitely stand out as genuine issues. Most having to do with sexual harassment/rape are important discussion topics. The blogger should have expanded on those and formulated a discussion instead of trying to come up with a large list.

As for sexism in the work place. Anywhere I've worked hasn't had this issue at all so I haven't experienced it. I imagine you get "boys clubs" the higher up you go. Where I work the second in command is a woman and sometimes favors women in certain positions. Of course, I'm not dismissing the issue exists as there is enough evidence the prove that it's going on everyday.

Uh so how about some women privilege ones?

1. Live like five years longer

2. Not have to wear trousers to work in hot weather

3. Everyone talks about the small penis, no-one ever goes on about the big vagina

Yeah totally agree, I've been to three weddings this summer, same suit with different shirts and ties and nobody cares, women simply can't do that without being criticized.

Some of her points are propagating male victimization. We don't really need more victims failing to report abuse because "it's incredibly unlikely" and it "virtually never happens". Disgusting.

I do find that women take more days off than men in the work place.

Also women can be fat and nasty and some one will still have sex with them. The same can't be said for dudes.

If you are a relatively attractive woman, you can basically use men to get what you want. Hot dudes are seen as pieces of meat and dumb.

Given the choice I'd rather be a woman.

That list is now 23-years-old and some of it seems a bit outdated. I don't think women are judged more than men for not having children. Seems pretty common and normal today for both sexes.

18. As a child, chances are I got more teacher attention than girls who raised their hands just as often.

Not when the teacher was male. From day one of high school it was obvious that girls were favored if the teacher was male.

This is just bullshit. Good looking clothes for guys usually costs more than for women.
For everyday wear? It's really not bullshit. I've had a not insignificant amount of clothing fall apart after 2-3 washes (handwashes too). I wouldn't call them super pricey, but $60-$100 an item is pretty normal. This does not happen for any men I know.

Uh so how about some women privilege ones?

That didn't take long. Again, if you have issues go and make a different thread. Why even bother making this one in the first place if that's not what you wanted to discuss.

I'm here to say thy while most men believe this, they are horribly, horribly wrong.

It's widely known teachers both male and female pay more attention to boys in class because it's harder to keep their attention and they struggle more compared to girls.

The need to wear something different every day and wear pricey brand clothing is something women do to themselves. The women I know however fully enjoy the whole shopping and picking out clothes bit. Why you do this to yourselves I will probably never understand.

meaning....?

Also women can be fat and nasty and some one will still have sex with them. The same can't be said for dudes.
Have you never watched mainstream TV? The hot wife, fat husband stereotypes exist for a reason. In general, women tend to weigh "physical attractiveness" in a partner as less important than men do.

If you are a relatively attractive woman, you can basically use men to get what you want. Hot dudes are seen as pieces of meat and dumb.

I have never, ever heard of this happening to men. In fact, I've only ever seen it applied to attractive women.

Anyways, I've got another one:

People will look me in the eye when talking to me if i'm surrounded by male colleagues (or hell, female colleagues).

My professor complained about this - she and her male colleagues were doing an interview, and the guy they were interviewing refused to look at her, looking at the other males instead.

That's not pricey brand clothing. That's everyday clothing. And like I said, we have to wear something different because clothing just falls apart so quickly. Everything is designed so that we have to keep buying more.

Uh... this is my thread?

Yeah, I missed that at first but edited it. Why did you bother making a thread about male privilege if you wanted to complain about female privilege? Did you miss the entire point of that list?

30. I can be loud with no fear of being called a shrew. I can be aggressive with no fear of being called a bitch.

I don't mean to deride the article but I wonder which gender is more often called "bitch". I think I've personally witnessed it being directed to males 90%+ of the time .

Because women are judged by their appearance more than men?

I have found walking around even places like Target, female wear nearly always looks better for price. I can get female tshirt with a tiger with nice beads on it, while in mens section its a cheap ass tshirt thats designed to be worn 1 size too large due bad shape with generic out of fashion print.

22. If I’m careless with my driving it won’t be attributed to my sex.

This is actually untrue, in Ireland, anyway. Will very much be attributed to being an 18 - 30 year old male.

There are a lot more women clothing stores as well. There's a lot more competition going on the women store front.

I do believe men have a lot of advantages, but clothing selection/price isn't one of them.

The male privilege stuff wasn't really in earnest, more highlighting the absurdity of this list. I'm not saying that on balance males aren't more privileged than females (hint: they are), but this kind of intellectually deficient armchair feminism isn't really constructive.

This could be attributed to factors other than privilege. When you're being interviewed by more than one person it is natural to lock eyes or focus your attention on just one person, and it is usually the one you are most comfortable with regardless of gender. If the male is smiling more or seems to like you it's natural to be more comfortable looking at him. Of course, the right way to go about being interviewed is to make eye contact with each interviewer to curry favor with all of them but not everyone is a seasoned speaker.

I meant that there were multiple males in the room and her. The guy looked at all of the guys, but never her.

Because women are judged by their appearance more than men?

While I can accept this to a point. I can assure you no man will look at a woman and claim she's wearing the same piece of clothing twice. They might judge the clothing and her body, because of (sexual) interest, but they won't care if it's the same pair of pants two days in a row. Perhaps this issue is more amongst women themselves, or even worse, a woman restricting herself because of how she thinks other people look at her. Mind you, still a issue society created, but strange none-the-less.

It is, by all means, unnescessary.

Definitely women. From my anecdotal experiences, anyways.
It seems like that would be the case but maybe I just haven't been noticing it. I'll pay more attention.

In my mind I think back to high school when males would use it on each other a few times a minute but saying it to a girl would get you slapped.

Quality for price though is absolutely shocking. Like I said, a lot of clothes - not inexpensive clothes either - end up falling apart after a couple of wears. And they fall apart to make women buy more.

The male privilege stuff wasn't really in earnest, more highlighting the absurdity of this list. I'm not saying that on balance males aren't more privileged than females (hint: they are), but this kind of intellectually deficient armchair feminism isn't really constructive.

I don't really see how absurd it is. All it's doing is highlighting the different treatment men and women receive to people who take it for granted. There are many who don't recognise that there are differences, or only "a pay gap", and this list points out that in many ways women aren't treated equally at all. Pointing out "stuff women can do" makes it seem like you really don't understand at all.

19. If my day, week or year is going badly, I need not ask of each negative episode or situation whether or not it has sexist overtones.

But I do have to ask if it has racist overtones. Of course me being a fucking male makes this irrelevant doesn't it? Because racism doesn't exist anymore. Obviously. I should be fucking grateful that I'm a man.

This is actually untrue, in Ireland, anyway. Will very much be attributed to being an 18 - 30 year old male.

That's everywhere. Young men tend to take a lot of dumb risks. It shows up in all sorts of statistics.

Hormones are powerful things.
