This might be the worst android, yet.

Lets step back for a second. While I think the pricing is outrageous, lets not be unfair here. The device looks to be more than capable and has a very sleek and clean design. It's a great phone, just too expensive. There is no value here and I cannot recommend this phone to anyone.

I'm a sucker. I bought into the hype. I sold my HTC One today for $400 and I switched to T-Mobile and I was going to buy this phone because I thought the rumours of it being unlocked for around $300 were true. I'm an idiot. I'm out the HTC One and now I'm so pissed at Goolge for releasing this mid range phone at high end prices (on contract) that I could get an iPhone 5 for the same damn price. Stupid google!

Do they think people are so stupid that they'd rather have color options than specs?

Especially when everybody buys a damn case anyway.

Now, if this were a special rugged phone, like the Galaxy Active, where you dont need a case, thats one thing.

But this doesnt even do that!

AND your battery is locked in for life, effectively ensuring the phone CANT last more than 2 years?

Holy fuck this is Wii U level bad

It would had been nice if it costs 200€ being made in USA, but who wants to pay 500-600$ for a mid-end phone when they could buy other better, made in i-don't-know-where??

The common mortal does not care that much about specs. It's godly geeks like us who really cares about that.

The sway that geeks have though is significant, especially if you throw in geek/tech media. If everyone 'in the know' scoffs at the phone, it will have an effect.

They dont care about specs, but they DO care about having " the best"

"Excuse me, could you tell me which is the best phone you sell?"

Thats what most customers ask.

"These phones cost the same, whats the difference, which one is better?"

Every time the question is asked, the reply will be

" This one has more color options, but this one has a better screen, better hardware, more features, removable battery, and memory card slot AND wireless charging "

Hmmmmmmm

Hope reminds me that the Nexus 4 for Tmobile was like $500 unlocked if I remember correctly.

But yeah, will probably get the 5C :/

I don't even want to know how much they'll charge for the wooden accessories. I suspect they won't come cheap.
I'm curious how those parts will react to drop damage, however.

Really bad move on your part.

Best bet is to get an N4 or find someone willing to sell a One for $400.

IPhone and S4can be bought for cheaper. And there's no way in going to use a dual core 720p screen phone for two years. This is not 2011.

Yeah, that would have only been fine if the price was right.

I mean, my 2011 Galaxy Nexus has a 720p screen and dual core processor...

Top Ten Things I Like About My Moto X #MeetMotoX

Motorola introduced the Moto X today. As an advisor to the company, I’ve had one for a while. Here are the top ten things that I like about it.

1. Flick the phone twice, and it’s ready to take a picture (“Quick Capture”). This means you don't have to fumble around to launch the camera app. Just flick the phone twice, and you’re good to go.

2. Tap anywhere on the screen to take a picture. How many times have you handed your phone to someone to take a picture of you and the person quit the camera app, took a selfie, or recorded a video? Not any more.

3. Say, “OK Google Now,” to invoke Google Now (Settings--“Touchless Control”). First you train your Moto X to recognize you saying “OK Google Now.” Then you can tell your Moto X to help you do tasks such as navigate, call someone, play a song, or search for information.

4. Personalize the phone (Moto Maker). I’m not talking about a custom case on top of the phone. I’m talking about 18 rear housings, 2 front-lens assemblies, 7 anodized aluminum accents, 2 storage sizes, a personal message on the rear housing and on power up, 2 wall chargers, a wallpaper, and a pre-linked Google account.

5. Authenticate my identity by using Bluetooth devices (Settings-Security-“Trusted Devices”). If you’re in your car or near a computer these Bluetooth devices can keep your Moto X authenticated.

6. Avoid bloatware. Moto X is a clean and elegant Android experience. You can choose from hundreds of thousands of other Android apps via Google Play, but these choices are yours to make.

7. Answer text messages on my Macintosh (Settings-Active Notifications- “Motorola Connect”). When people send a text message to your Moto X, a window displays it on your computer, and you can answer it from there.

8. Migrate pictures and text messages from phone to phone (“Motorola Migrate”). Moto X helps you preserve data from your previous Android phone, so you don’t lose your pictures and text messages.

9. Receive notifications when the display is off (Settings-Active Notifications-“Active Display”). Suppose you’re at a boring dinner, and you want to subtly check the time and see if you have any text messages, emails, or calls. Active Display makes this possible--without burning up your battery.

10. Own a phone that’s assembled in the USA. The Moto X is the only smartphone that’s assembled in the USA--Ft. Worth, Texas to be precise. This is part of the reason you can get your personalized Moto X so fast.

Oh those, active display is the only one I give a rip about. What a let down.

nexus 4 is still a great phone and you can use a hybrid radio to get lte working

Just like it happened with the Wii, right. Now, I'm not saying that XFON will succeded, but I just won't predict a "failure" because of the specs alone. I can't gauge right now how important customizing the back will be so I'll just wait & see.

So, according to Robert Scoble, this very mid-range, near-stock Android phone with a couple software and hardware customizations (many would call gimmicky and unreliable, like wrist flicking for camera), and customizable colors, is what he defined as "as game-changing as the first iPhone" and "even more controversial", and "a "game-changer for the industry"?

That guy proves himself to be a bigger attention-whoring douche every day.

Don't get me wrong, if I was in the market for a new Android phone this might be near the top of the list, but what ridiculous, laughable comments.

Pissed at Google?
Stupid Google?

Dude, reflect.

Lie to me Guy. Tell me sweet little lies
