My main's first name is arguably outside of conventions but the last name fits (moonkitties). My lala alt is gonna have a naming conventions name and last night I came up with a sea wolf name I like so if I get the altitis bug badly enough I might make one to use that name...
....or use it on my lalafell and come up with some reason why she uses it instead (the ol' easy-way-out raised-by-pirates excuse?)... that might be fun, especially because the name is partially an obscure reference joke and would fit better on a lala...

Fairy is schoolar. ACN gets carbuncle who has different set of skills and two stances (basically one DPS and one tank)
If only it could be a Lalafell with cat ears and tail!

I guess is lvl 1 so even if SCH gets level synced to lower to 30 they can use the fairy.

They're actually from the Empire and were drugged and brainwashed into believing it's their destiny to save the Eorzea when really they're to meet up with the Empire's double agents, the Scion of the Seventh Dawn, and destroy the Primals and Beastmen to rid Eorzea of their last major line of the defense against the Empire.

The naming conventions are maintained more according to race/heritage than by area, I think.
Even if that's not true, if we want to focus on the fact that the adventurers aren't really from the main cities (as shown by the intros) it would make an even stronger case for the naming conventions to apply since it's likely your PC came either from their race/tribe's homeland or some smaller community in the countryside closer to the immediate game area where the racial naming conventions would be an even bigger deal (more insular community, especially for races like miqo'te). Those conventions, if anything, apply more to where your characters are from than they do to than they would if your character actually started out as a resident of one of the cities with such a mixed population.

FFXIV 1.0 was the first MMO that made me switch from playing male characters to exclusively female characters. SWTOR made my choice even more obvious because most of the female voice actors were so much better than the male equivalents.

I've been planning on going with a Miqo'te since FFXIV 1.0 was first announced in 2009, but I spent most of the beta playing as that midlander and I really liked the way she looked.

For a PC only game dosn't look very good, both in the art department and the pure graphics department. Overall I like ARR way more, the only advantage ESO seems to have is the seamless world which for some people may be a big deal.
All this from a tech standpoint.
