Yeah, some races naming conventions are a bit, uh, unforgiving in this game. I dread to think about whats going to happen when players try communicating with eachother when there's a Roe on the team, especially if there's more than one. D:

Okay, I have a sudden urge to read a lot and learn a lot about everything Final Fantasy XIV. Where would be the best place to go? I might have a log in to Square Enix's site as I were part of Phase 3.

I just wanna read a lot about it until the release.

The helmet is level 11 indeed, but only requires YOU being lv 1 to use it.

You won't get much disagreement from me. SAO should have been a lot better than it was. The original source material isn't very good though and you see that thrown into pretty sharp relief in the anime.

From what I'm told, later on the AoT manga falls pretty hard into shounen tropes and also relying on cliffhanging and twists to keep people reading it. The promising start we've seen so far is just that, promising.

Seeing all of these people getting 10,000+ scores on the benchmark while running 1980 x 1050 resolution saddens me.

Oh well, I guess Standard at 1680 x 1050 will be good enough for me. I could probably push it up to High, but I like the 60+ FPS with Standard.

I'm tempted to upgrade my PC, but considering this is the only upcoming PC game I'm interested in, I'm a bit hesitant. Still, some impressive rigs in here.

Eh, I like both SAO and AoT for what they are. The only thing that annoys me is when people become both obsessive over them, and elevate them far above where they deserve.

I mean, heck, I liked Naruto too for the most part. Naruto FANS on the other hand, drove me nuts.

Same boat. This is the only somewhat demanding PC game I'm really interested in in the next six months, and its still giving me the upgrade itch. The only thing keeping it at bay in the 70FPS I'm getting in the latest benchmark on Max. That, and the lack of a clearcut CPU upgrade path when you're running older AMD CPU's.

I have my two Legacy characters, one will be getting a gender swap and the other will swap both race and gender. I don't remember, did SE say whether they would also allow us to change their names at the same time?

The one thing I do recall reading was in the case of a server transfer, if your name was already taken on the new server, then you would have the option or be required to change it.

If they do allow us to change the name when we recustomize the appearance, then I am strongly considering using the lore naming conventions.

Yes, you can change names. Character re-customization allowing genderswap plus the fact that they introduced the naming conventions are two of the biggest reasons.

It's a themepark MMO, yes.

There are only 2 basic types of MMOs:

Themepark - Enter zone, move from hub to hub, do quests. Repeat until level cap.
Open world (Sandbox) - Enter zone, grind mobs endlessly, get ganked. Repeat until level cap.

I'll let you decide which kind you prefer. There are only a few MMOs which try not to be one of these two things, EVE springs to mind immediately. But the vast majority of MMOs are one of these two types.

I think there should be a clause that any future popular shounen anime should be added to the list.

No one said you have to use a randomized one. Look at the naming conventions on the official forums and make one you like. That's more fun anyway.

Don't click on any of the .exe's in the launcher folder. Just use the one called "ffxiv-arr-bench-character.exe".

What I like about it is the hunting log, where you have a list of bounties for every 10 levels that give you a sizable amount of bonus experience. There's a different list for every class and I find it fun to take a break from questing, leave the starting area and just go hunting for a bit.

Bhaldfyst sounds cool. I was thinking about using Bhladent(Brave End) as a first name since it would be similar to my online name but I didn't like it in the end.
